Sediment microbial community plays a crucial role in aquaculture ecosystem. In aquaculture practice, rather than monoculture intensive shrimp (IS) or intensive fish (IF) patterns, polyculture of shrimp and fish (PolySF) pattern leads to a more reliable production. However, knowledge is still limited about the characteristics of sediment microbiota and its potential functions in the PolySF ponds compared to monoculture patterns (IS and IF). Herein, we collected sediment samples from these three patterns in seven cities to evaluate microbial variations among patterns. The highest oxidation reduction potential (ORP), total phosphate (TP) and total organic carbon (TOC) were detected in the PolySF pattern, representing a relatively less anoxic environment, while the highest iron (Fe) was detected in IS pattern. Proteobacteria was the most abundant phylum among three patterns, followed by Bacteroidetes and Chloroflexi. The microbial alpha diversity in the PolySF was higher than those in the IF, but lower than those in the IS. Microbial communities of these three patterns were significantly distinct from each other, and 23 distinguished taxa for each pattern were further characterized. In additional, the relative abundances of genes involved in nitrogen metabolism, fatty acid biosynthesis and carbon fixation pathways were markedly shifted. Moreover, ORP, TOC and Fe were the shaping factors for sediment microbiota, which significantly varied among three patterns. Collectively, these findings demonstrated that sediment microbial communities in the PolySF were distinctive from those in the IS and IF, which enlarged our understanding for the underlying mechanism of advances in the PolySF pattern from ecological perspective.The analytical framework of Social-Ecological Systems (SES) has been endorsed worldwide because of its ability to describe the complex feedback relationships between social and ecological subsystems. The framework promotes multidisciplinarity and interdisciplinarity, with the expectation that studies will be carried out through groups and collaborative networks via the application of mixed research methods. In this study, we conducted a systematic review of the scientific literature to understand whether the operationalization of the SES framework has been achieved in this way. For this, we used the Cochrane Handbook for Systematic Reviews of Interventions and the Scopus database. Based on the results, there is wide methodological plurality, although there are few studies that have opted for mixed methods that capture the complexity of an SES. In terms of scientific networks, we found that the community is composed mainly of consolidated groups of scientists from the Global North in which authors-researchers with betweenness centrality roles were identified, who connect the entire network, reaching the Global South, where peripheral groups, which are barely consolidated and develop their studies, mostly in their own regions, prevail.Wastewater based epidemiology was employed to track the spread of SARS-CoV-2 within the sewershed areas of 10 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) in Catalonia, Spain. A total of 185 WWTPs inflow samples were collected over the period consisting of both the first wave (mid-March to June) and the second wave (July to November). Concentrations of SARS-CoV-2 RNA (N1 and N2 assays) were quantified in these wastewaters as well as those of Human adenoviruses (HAdV) and JC polyomavirus (JCPyV), as indicators of human faecal contamination. SARS-CoV-2 N gene daily loads strongly correlated with the number of cases diagnosed one week after sampling i.e. wastewater levels were a good predictor of cases to be diagnosed in the immediate future. The conditions present at small WWTPs relative to larger WWTPs influence the ability to follow the pandemic. Small WWTPs ( less then 24,000 inhabitants) had lower median loads of SARS-CoV-2 despite similar incidence of infection within the municipalities served by the different WWTP (but not lower loads of HAdV and JCPyV). The lowest incidence resulting in quantifiable SARS-CoV-2 concentration in wastewater differed between WWTP sizes, being 0.11 and 0.82 cases/1000 inhabitants for the large and small sized WWTP respectively.Addition of ferric oxides into flocculent anaerobic sludge was reported to enhance methanogenesis due to accelerated direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) between syntrophic microbial communities. However, it is generally hard to incorporate Fe oxides into already matured anaerobic granular sludge (AGS) due to its special aggregated structure. In this study, a novel method was attempted to fast incorporate Fe oxides into AGS through in-situ microbial formation and immobilization of biogenic Fe oxides. Factors influencing the formation of Fe oxides were investigated and effects of Fe oxides on the acidogenic and methanogenic performance of AGS were assessed. AD80 mouse Results showed that AGS could form Fe oxides mainly in the form of magnetite and hematite through biological reduction of Fe(III) oxyhydroxide. A maximum loading amount of 83.9 mg Fe/g MLVSS was obtained at pH 7 after contacting with 60 mM Fe(III) oxyhydroxide. The efficiency of electron donors which supported Fe(III) reduction followed the order of pyruvate > propionate > glucose > acetate > lactate > formate. Addition of electron transfer mediators (ETMs) promoted the formation of Fe oxides and their performance followed the order of AQDS > AQC > humics > FMN > riboflavin. Presence of Fe oxides in AGS (134.6 Fe/g VSS) increased the production of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) and methane by 16.28% and 41.94% respectively, comparing to the control. The enhancement may be attributed to increased conductivity and stimulated growth of exoelectrogens (Clostridium and Anaerolinea) and methanogenic endoelectrogens Methanosaeta in granular sludge which may strengthen direct interspecies electron transfer between syntrophic microbial communities. Overall, this study provides an alternative strategy to improve the digestion performance of AGS through in-situ formation and immobilization of biogenic Fe oxides.
To describe pregnant women's experiences and perceived facilitators/barriers of a prenatal yoga intervention to prevent excessive gestational weight gain (EGWG).
Pregnant women (N=13) were interviewed after participation in a 12-week prenatal yoga intervention to prevent EGWG. Interviews were summarized using thematic analysis.
Twelve themes were identified and organized into four categories 1) experiences of prenatal yoga (positive experience/enjoyment, pain relief, connecting to body), 2) prenatal yoga and weight (increased mindfulness/self-awareness, increased physical activity, weight management), 3) barriers to prenatal yoga (physical body, commute/traffic, schedule), and 4) facilitators of prenatal yoga (healthy pregnancy, support from other pregnant women, the feeling from prenatal yoga).
Prenatal yoga may relieve pain and help women be more connected to their bodies. Prenatal yoga may also help women become more aware of their health behaviors and increases their physical activity which may have important implications for reducing EGWG.

and purpose. COVID-19 is a novel viral disease causing worldwide pandemia. The aim of this study was to describe the effect of adjunctive individualized homeopathic treatment delivered to hospitalized patients with confirmed symptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Thirteen patients with COVID-19 were admitted. Mean age was 73.4±15.0 (SD) years. Twelve (92.3%) were speedily discharged without relevant sequelae after 14.4±8.9 days. A single patient admitted in an advanced stage of septic disease died in hospital. A time-dependent improvement of relevant clinical symptoms was observed in the 12 surviving patients. Six (46.2%) were critically ill and treated in the intensive care unit (ICU). Mean stay at the ICU of the 5 surviving patients was 18.8±6.8 days. In six patients (46.2%) gastrointestinal disorders accompanied COVID-19.
The observations suggest that adjunctive homeopathic treatment may be helpful to treat patients with confirmed COVID-19 even in high - risk patients especially since there is no conventional treatment of COVID-19 available at present.

The aim of the research was to develop a practical test for measuring lateral contaminant transport to aid in the design of landfill flushing. Borehole dilution tests using dyes were undertaken prior to each SWIW test to determine background flow velocities. SWIW tests were performed at different scales by varying the volume of tracer injected (1 to 5,800 m3) and the test duration (2 to 266 days). Tracers were used individually, simultaneously or sequentially to examine repeatability and scaling. Mobile porosities, estimated from first arrival times in observation wells and from model fitting ranged from 0.02 to 0.14. The low mobile porosities measured rule out a purely advective-dispersive system and support a conceptual model of a highly preferential dual-porosity flow system with localised heterogeneity. A dual-porosity model was used to interpret the results. The model gave a good fit to the test data in 7 out of 11 tests (where R2 ≥ 0.98), and the parameters derived are compatible with previous experiments in MSW. Block diffusion times were estimated to range from 12 to 6,630 h, with a scaling relationship apparent between the size of the test (volume of tracer used and/or the duration) and the observed block diffusion time. This scaling relationship means affordable small-scale tests can inform larger-scale flushing operations.This paper analyzes the effects of weight-based pricing on municipal waste generation in Flanders (Belgium) by applying the bias-corrected least squares dummy variables estimation model to account for the dynamic relationship. The study also considers yearly weight-based pricing dummy variables to clarify the annual effects after its introducing and price elasticities of weight-based pricing systems from the both viewpoints of short and long terms. The results by the dynamic panel estimations showed that the continuous participation of weight-based pricing decreases the amount of residual waste significantly by approximately 10.4%. However, the remarkable decrease (approximately 21.4%) was observed only in the first year after the introduction and the reduction effect gradually decreases following its introduction and it disappears in five years. The study also showed that price elasticities of weight-based pricing were smaller than that of volume-based pricing for five years after its introduction and consequently the difference between them disappeared in five years.
