However, proton dosimetry in RGDs is scarcely used owing to a lack of clarity in their response to beam quality. In this study, we investigated RGD response to beam quality for establishing a suitable linear energy transfer (LET)-corrected dosimetry protocol in a therapeutic proton beam. The RGD response was compared with ionization chamber measurement for a 100-225 MeV passive proton beam. LET of the measurement points was calculated by the Monte Carlo method. An LET-correction factor, defined as a ratio between the non-corrected RGD dose and ionization chamber dose, of 1.226×(LET)-0.171 was derived for the RGD response. The magnitude of the LET-dependence of RGD increased with LET; for an LET of 8.2 keV/μm, the RGD under-response was up to 16%. The coefficient of determination, mean difference ± SD of non-corrected RGD dose, residual range-corrected RGD dose, and LET-corrected RGD dose to the ionization chamber are 0.923, 3.7 ± 4.2%, -2.4 ± 7.5%, and 0.04 ± 2.1%, respectively. The LET-corrected RGD dose was within 5% of the corresponding ionization chamber dose at all energies until 200 MeV, where it was 5.3% lower than the ionization chamber dose. A corrected LET-dependence of RGD using a correction factor based on a power function of LET and precise dosimetric verification close to the maximum LET were realized here. We further confirmed establishment of an accurate postal audit under various irradiation conditions.
We aim to report intra-arterial thrombectomy transfer metrics for ischemic stroke patients that were transferred to hub hospitals for possible intra-arterial thrombectomy in multiple geographic regions throughout the state of Texas and to identify potential barriers and delays in the intra-arterial thrombectomy transfer process.

We prospectively collected data from 8 participating Texas comprehensive stroke/thrombectomy capable centers from 7 major regions in the State of Texas. We collected baseline clinical and imaging data related to the pre-transfer evaluation, transfer metrics, and post-transfer clinical and imaging data.

A total of 103 acute ischemic stroke patients suspected/confirmed to have large vessel occlusions between December 2016 to May 2019 that were transferred to hubs as possible intra-arterial thrombectomy candidates were enrolled. A total of 56 (54%) patients were sent from the spoke to the hub via ground ambulance with 47 (46%) patients traveling via air ambulance. The median spoke arrival to hub arrival time was 174min, median spoke arrival to departure from spoke was 131min, and median travel time was 39min. The spoke arrival time to transfer initiation was 68min. CT-perfusion obtained at the spoke and earlier initiation of transfer were statistically associated with shorter transfer times.

The aim of this study was to assess the effects of neck radiation on the results of Doppler sonography of carotid arteries in head and neck cancer patients.

In this prospective, cross-sectional study, 25 consecutive patients with head and neck cancers were assessed for carotid artery stenosis (CAS) by carotid color Doppler sonography before external radiotherapy and six months after external radiotherapy. Main outcome measures were peak systolic velocity (PSVs), end-diastolic velocities (EDVs) of the internal carotid artery (ICA), ICA/common carotid (CCA) ratios, and degree of stenosis.

The age of the enrolled patients at the initiation of radiotherapy was 57.9±11.8 years (mean±SD; range, 43-91 years), and only 4 (16%) of the 25 patients were female. The findings showed significant changes in the plaque degree and stenosis degree, and plaque size before and after external radiotherapy (P<0.05). Changes in degree of stenosis were significantly correlated with age (p=0.021).

There has been a growing interest in whether carotid revascularization may reverse cognitive decline. In this study the aim was to assess cognitive changes after carotid artery endarterectomy and stenting, using neuropsychological assessment with MoCA and CANTAB test.

Seventy patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis, qualified for CEA (study group A) and CAS (study group B) have been prospectively assessed. 20 patients with lower extremity artery disease (control group C) and 15 patients qualified for inguinal hernia surgery (control group D) have served as a control group. Patients have been evaluated 1 day before surgery and 6 months after, using MoCA and CANTAB test. Logistic regression models were built to determine variables affecting cognitive performance.

After the procedure in the study group A the cognitive evaluation showed improvement in 5 cognitive domains tested in MoCA visuospatial/executive (p=.0496), naming (p=.0831), language (p=.0009), abstraction (p=.0126) and delayed recall (p=.0016). In CANTAB there were improvement in PAL (p=.0290) and SWM (p=.0105). In study group B positive cognitive changes were seen in visuospatial/executive (p=.0827) and delayed recall (p=.0041) tested with MoCA and in PAL (PALFAMS28 p=.0315, PALNPR28 p=.0090, PALTEA28 p=.0058) and SWM (p=.0882) tested with CANTAB. CRT-0105446 Using a regression model, the only strong predictors of cognitive improvement on the follow-up visit were younger age and lower MoCA score on the first visit.

Hybrid and endovascular procedures maybe effective and less invasive alternatives to open surgery for treatment of extracranial carotid artery aneurysm (ECAA), but the optimal management of juxta-skullbase ECAA is controversial.

This study evaluated the long-term effects of hybrid and endovascular procedures in treating juxta-skullbase ECAA.

The records of 9 consecutive patients who underwent hybrid or endovascular interventions for juxta-skullbase ECAA in a single center from April 2014 to May 2020 were retrospectively reviewed.

Four patients presented with a pulsating mass, 1 with dysphagia, 1 with pain in the left temporal region, 1 with dizziness and headache, 1 with cerebral infarction, and 1 with dizziness and cerebral infarction. Seven true aneurysms, 1 false aneurysm, and 1 dissecting aneurysm were diagnosed with CTA in the 9 patients (mean age, 50.8±20.3 years; 1 male). The aneurysms were divided into two subgroups 4 type I, and 5 type IIb according to a recent classification. Per schedule, 7 extracranial juxta-skullbase carotid aneurysm.
Cannabis use is highly prevalent among people with a psychotic disorder. They often report sociality, coping with unpleasant affect and having positive experiences as important reasons for cannabis use, suggesting that cannabis improves their quality of life (QoL) and psychosocial functioning. However, based on previous studies we hypothesize that cannabis use is negatively associated with long-term subjective QoL and psychosocial functioning in people with a psychotic disorder.

We included 2994 people with a psychotic disorder (36.4% female), mean age 44.4 (SD 11.9), mean illness duration 17.2years (SD 11.1), who participated in two yearly routine outcome assessments between 2014 and 2018 (interval 9-15months) from the naturalistic PHAMOUS cohort study. Linear regression analyses were used to examine whether first assessment cannabis use was associated with QoL (ManSA) and psychosocial functioning (HoNOS). Changes in outcomes between assessments were analyzed with AN(C)OVA, to examine differences betweenarting or discontinuing cannabis did not lead to changes in QoL and psychosocial functioning within one year.The new water soluble silver(I) complex of glycine (GlyH) with formula [Ag3(Gly)2NO3]n (AGGLY) was synthesized. The compound was characterized by melting point (m.p.), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR), Ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-,13C NMR) spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystallography. The in vitro cytotoxic activity of AGGLY against human breast adenocarcinoma cell lines MCF-7 (hormone depended (HD)) and MDA-MB-231 (hormone independent (HI)) was determined. For comparison other adenocarcinoma cells such as human cervical adenocarcinoma (HeLa) cells and lung adenocarcinoma cells (A549) were also screened. AGGLY inhibits both breast cancer cell lines stronger than cisplatin. On the contrary, AGGLY, exhibits lower toxicity against fetal lung fibroblast (MRC-5) cells than cisplatin. Its genotoxicity against MRC-5 cells was detected from the presence or absence of micronucleus using fluorescence microscopy, while the in vivo genotoxicity was evaluated using Allium cepa model. The MCF-7 cells morphology suggests apoptotic pathway for their death. The apoptotic pathway was confirmed by cell cycle arrest, Acridine Orange/Ethidium Bromide (AO/EB) Staining, and permeabilization of the mitochondrial membrane tests. The molecular mechanism of action was further studied by the binding affinity of AGGLY towards the calf thymus (CT) DNA.A whole-cell biohybrid catalyst where a (pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)rhodium(III) (Cp*Rh(III)) complex was covalently incorporated into the cavity of nitrobindin (NB), a β-barrel protein, was prepared on an E. coli cell surface to produce isoquinolines via C(sp2)-H bond activation. In this whole-cell biohybrid system, the Cp*Rh(III)-dithiophosphate complex with latent catalytic activity was utilized as a precursor of the metal cofactor. Strong chelation of the dithiophosphate ligands protects the rhodium complex from being deactivated by abundant nucleophiles in cellular environments during conjugation of the cofactor with the protein scaffold. The whole-cell biohybrid catalyst was then activated upon addition of Ag+ ion to dissociate the dithiophosphate ligands and promoted cycloaddition of acetophenone oxime with diphenylacetylene. Furthermore, the activity of the Cp*Rh(III)-linked whole-cell biohybrid catalyst was enhanced 2.1-fold by introducing glutamate residues at positions adjacent to the Cp*Rh(III) cofactor.
