The most frequent fault was a delay in diagnosis (10 cases), followed by inadequate surgical management (6 cases), inadequate antibiotic therapy (5 cases), and inadequate follow-up (1 case). Among the 67 cases (68.4%) proved not to be at fault, 10 were covered. The analysis of expert reports and the resulting court decisions imply prevention, anticipation, and collaboration of all health care providers and open an opportunity to improve their practices to limit these crucial followings.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has negatively affected the outcomes of surgical neuro-oncology patients worldwide. We aimed to review the practice patterns in surgical neuro-oncology in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We also present a situational report from our own country.

A scoping review was performed following the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews) guidelines.

Twelve studies were included in the review. Most of the studies were from Asia (India, China, Iran, and Turkey), and 1 was from Brazil. Quantitative reports showed a decrease in the number of surgical neuro-oncology operations between pre-COVID-19 and post-COVID-19 time frames, but similar proportions of neuro-oncology procedures. Qualitative review showed similar practice patterns between LMICs and high-income countries, except for limitations in resources such as negative-pressure operating rooms and intensive care units, and maintenance of face-to-face consults despite the adoption of telemedicine. Limited data on adjuvant therapy were available in LMICs.

Patients with chronic psychotic disorders are typically referred to specialty care. However, owing to a lack of psychiatric services or patient preference, these patients commonly receive care in primary care settings. Although there is interest in applying the collaborative care model to patients with chronic psychotic disorders, evidence for this approach is lacking.

We aim to explore clinician- and systems-level factors affecting collaborative care implementation for patients with psychosis.

In this case conference, we introduce a patient with schizoaffective disorder who presented to a rural primary care clinic with persistent psychotic, hypomanic, and depressive symptoms. We discuss the barriers and facilitators to the success of the collaborative care model for this patient.

The collaborative care model initially functioned poorly owing to lapses in communication between the care manager, consulting psychiatrist, and primary care provider; insufficient time allocated to collaborative care; and sg well, the collaborative care model can benefit patients with chronic psychotic disorders. Consulting psychiatrists should engage in quality improvement efforts to address barriers to quality collaborative care. When patients are not improving, consulting psychiatrists should diagnose and manage both clinical and systems-level etiologies for the lack of improvement.
Approximately 80% of lung cancer cases in Germany are attributable to smoking. Patients with a lung cancer diagnosis may remain at increased risk of developing smoking-related second primary cancers (SPCs).

Anonymous data from 11 population-based cancer registries covering approximately 50% of the German population were pooled for the analysis. Included patients were diagnosed with having an index lung cancer between 2002 and 2013, aged 30 to 99 years old at diagnosis, and survived for at least 6 months. We calculated standardized incidence ratios (SIRs)-stratified by age, sex, region, and period-comparing the incidence of smoking-related and other SPCs to the general population.

Of the 135,589 lung cancer survivors (68.2% male; mean follow-up 30.8 mo) analyzed, 5298 developed an SPC. In males, the risk was particularly high for SPCs of the larynx (SIR= 3.70, 95% confidence interval [CI] 3.14-4.34), pharynx (3.17, 2.61-3.81), and oral cavity (2.86, 2.38-3.41). For females, SIRs were notably elevated for the esophagus (4.66, 3.15-6.66), oral cavity (3.14, 2.03-4.63), and urinary tract (2.68, 2.04-3.45). When combining all smoking-related cancer sites, SIR was 1.41 in males (95% CI 1.36-1.47) and 1.81 in females (95% CI 1.68-1.94). We observed that males had a 1.46-fold (95% CI 1.37-1.56) and females a 1.33-fold (95% CI 1.20-1.47) increased risk for smoking-related compared with other cancers.

Both the number of frozen-thawed embryo transfers and the incidence of obesity have increased sharply in recent years in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) centers. The objective of our study is therefore to evaluate the impact of female obesity on pregnancy outcomes for frozen-thawed embryo transfer at blastocyst stage.

This is a single-center retrospective study conducted between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2019, in our Assisted Reproduction Center in Calais. All consecutive cycles of frozen embryo transfers at blastocyst stage with artificial cycle were included. A total of 296cycles could be included corresponding to 220cycles realized in normal Body Mass Index (BMI) patients (18.5-24.9kg/m
) and 76in obese patients (BMI≥30kg/m

A total of 126 patients (172 eyes) with LSCD and 67 normal subjects (99 eyes) were included in this observational cross-sectional comparative study. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy, in vivo laser scanning confocal microscopy (IVCM), and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) were performed to obtain the following clinical score, cell morphology score, basal cell density (BCD), central corneal epithelial thickness (CET), limbal epithelial thickness (LET), total corneal nerve fiber length (CNFL), corneal nerve fiber density (CNFD), corneal nerve branch density (CNBD), and tortuosity coefficient. Their potential correlations with the severity of LSCD were investigated, and cutoff values were determined.

An increase clinical score correlated with a decrease in central cornea BCD, limbal BCD, CET, mean LET, maximum LET, CNFL, CNFD, CNBD, and tortuosity coefficient. Regression analyses showed that central cornea BCD, CET and CNFL were the best parameters to differentiate LSCD from normal eyes (Coef=3.123, 3.379, and 2.223; all p<0.05). The rank correlation analysis showed a similar outcome between the clinical scores and the central cornea BCD (ρ=0.79), CET (ρ=0.82), and CNFL (ρ=0.71). A comprehensive LSCD grading formula based on a combination of these parameters was established.

Previous estimates of life-threatening event (LTE) risk in Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome are limited by selection bias inherent to tertiary care referral-based cohorts.

This analysis sought to measure LTE incidence in children with WPW syndrome in a large contemporary representative population.

A retrospective cohort study was conducted using claims data from the IBM MarketScan Research Databases, evaluating subjects with WPW syndrome (age 1-18 years) from any encounter between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2018. Subjects with congenital heart disease and cardiomyopathy were excluded. The primary outcome was diagnosis of ventricular fibrillation (VF); a composite outcome, LTE, was defined as occurrence of VF and/or cardiac arrest. VF and LTE rates were compared to matched representative controls without WPW syndrome (31 ratio).

The prevalence of WPW syndrome was 0.03% (8733/26,684,581) over a median follow-up of 1.6 years (interquartile range 0.7-2.9 years). Excluding congenital heart disease/cardiomyopathy, 6946 subjects were analyzed.
