We aimed at investigating whether microRNA-195-5p inhibits the malignant proliferation of gallbladder cancer (GBC) via regulating Wnt3a; meanwhile, its relationship with the clinicopathological parameters and prognosis of patients with GBC was also explored.

In this study, the tumor tissues and adjacent tissues of 47 GBC patients were tested for microRNA-195-5p expression level by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR); the relationship between microRNA-195-5p expression and clinical indicators of GBC patients was further analyzed. Control group (NC mimic or NC inhibitor), microRNA-195-5p overexpression group (microRNA-195-5p mimic), and microRNA-195-5p knockdown group (microRNA-195-5p inhibitor) were set in GBC cell lines, respectively. In GBC cell lines GBC-SD and NOZ, cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), plate cloning experiments and flow cytometry were carried out to assess microRNA-195-5p's effect on proliferation and apoptosis of GBC cells. Further, the interaction between microRNA-195-5p ace of upregulation of microRNA-195-5p on proliferation and apoptosis of GBC cells and thus modulate the malignant progress of GBC cells.

In summary, the above studies suggest that low expression of microRNA-195-5p is remarkably relevant to pathological stage and tumor size of patients with GBC. In addition, microRNA-195-5p may suppress the malignant progression of GBC through down-regulating Wnt3a.

We aimed to explore the role of LINC00261 in thyroid cancer (TC) and the potential regulatory mechanism.

40 cases of tumor tissues and adjacent tissues of TC patients were collected, and the expressions of LINC00261 and EBF1 were detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), and the relationship between LINC00261 and the clinical pathological indicators and prognosis of TC patients were analyzed. Next, LINC00261 overexpression and knockdown cell models were constructed in TC cell lines BPH5-16 and K1, respectively. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and transwell migration were used to detect the impact of LINC00261 overexpression or silencing on cell proliferative and migration ability. The bioinformatics website was used to screen the possible target gene of LINC00261.

qRT-PCR analysis showed that LINC00261 level was markedly reduced in TC tumor tissues, as well as corresponding cell lines. Retrospective analysis showed that low expression of LINC00261 was in positive correlation wint metastasis, as well as the prognosis in TC patients. Moreover, LINC00261 could negatively regulate EBF1, thereby promoting the malignant progression of TC.
LINC00261 was markedly downregulated in TC tissues and cells. In addition, the level of LINC00261 was closely related to lymph node and distant metastasis, as well as the prognosis in TC patients. Moreover, LINC00261 could negatively regulate EBF1, thereby promoting the malignant progression of TC.
To evaluate 3D growth of the periapical vertebrae and discs in the 2years after anterior vertebral body tether (AVBT) placement in patients with idiopathic scoliosis (IS).

Patients with IS treated with AVBT, ≥ 2years of follow-up, and 3D spine reconstructions created from simultaneous, biplanar radiographs were studied. Patients were divided into two groups progressive scoliosis correction (PC) or no/limited correction (NPC). The average of the 3 apical vertebral and disc heights and angular measures were made. The rate of change for each measure (mm/mo, °/mo) from first erect to 2-year follow-up was compared between groups.

Fourteen (Risser 0, Sanders 2-3) patients aged 11.4 ± 1.4years with right thoracic scoliosis of 52 ± 9° were included. There were 7 patients per group (6F, 1M). Mean follow-up was 3.6 ± 1.1 (range 2-5) years. PC left-sided vertebral height increased 0.13mm/months compared to 0.05mm/mo in the NPC group (p = 0.001). Right (tethered side) vertebral growth was not different (PC 0.07mm/mo, NPC 0.05mm/mo, p = 0.2).Coronal vertebral wedging occurred at - 0.11°/mo compared to - 0.02°/mo for the PC and NPC groups, respectively (p = 0.004). Coronal disc angulation change was - 0.12°/mo in the PC group and - 0.04°/mo in the NPC group (p = 0.03), and was associated with loss of right disc height (PC - 0.06mm/mo) with little effect on the left disc height (PC -0.01mm/mo).

AVBT in immature patients with thoracic scoliosis can asymmetrically modulate growth of the periapical vertebrae and discs. Progressive reduction in scoliosis after AVBT was associated with greater concave growth rates in the vertebraeand loss of disc height on the convex side.

To assess the association between preoperative S-albumin and postoperative outcome following adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgery.

All patients undergoing ASD surgery from February 1, 2017 and January 31, 2018 at a single quaternary referral center were prospectively included. Adverse events (AE) during admission were assessed using the Spine AdVerse Events Severity (SAVES) system. Based on preoperative S-albumin, patients were categorized as "normal" or "abnormal" and compared regarding postoperative outcome, adverse events (AEs), 30- and 90-day readmission, revision surgery, and mortality.

A total of 128 patients aged ≥ 18years were included, and S-albumin was available in 88%. find more Of these, 73% (n = 93) were classified as "normal", 16% (n = 20) as "abnormal", and 12% (n = 15) as "missing". The "normal" albumin group had less comorbidity burden [ASA score 2 (2, 3) vs 3 (2, 3), p = 0.011], higher hemoglobin levels (8.4 (± 0.9) mmol/L vs 7.4 (± 1.1) mmol/L, p < 0.001), and higher S-albumin (38.9 (± 2.7) gated. We conclude that nutritional status prior to ASD surgery could be important to consider and suggest validation in larger prospective cohorts.

Ectopic kidney is a rare anatomic variant with an incidence of about 1 in 900. Renal stones can pose a challenge when a standard approach is not possible. Laparoscopic-assisted endourologic procedure can be a feasible and safe choice.

We present a case of 32years old man with spastic quadriplegia, megacolon and pelvic kidney undergoing intervention of laparoscopic-assisted Mini ECIRS for staghorn stone of the left pelvic kidney. To the best of our knowledge, only 59 cases are reported in the literature concerning laparoscopically assisted encdourologic treatment which seems a feasible, safe and adaptable technique in selected complex cases.

Laparoscopic-assisted mini ECIRS is a viable option for the treatment of ectopic kidney stones. This technique should be considered when anatomical anomalies are encountered, to avoid puncture-related complications.

This technique should be considered when anatomical anomalies are encountered, to avoid puncture-related complications. We describe the case of a 42-year-old female with COVID-19 and acute psychomotor agitation and without comorbidities. Brain MRI showed injury to the olfactory system associated with diffusion weighted imaging restriction in the ependymal surface of the lateral ventriculus suggesting ventriculoencephalitis. This study aimed to select beneficial strains from the oral cavity of healthy volunteers and to evaluate these as potential oral probiotic candidates. The selection process was based on the isolation, differentiation, identification, and safety assessment of LAB strains, followed by a series of experiments for the selection of appropriate candidates with beneficial properties. In the screening procedure, 8 isolates from the oral cavity of a Caucasian volunteers were identified as Streptococcus (Str.) salivarius ST48HK, ST59HK, ST61HK, and ST62HK; Lactiplantibacillus plantarum (Lb.) (Lactobacillus plantarum) ST63HK and ST66HK; Latilactobacillus sakei (Lb.) (Lactobacillus sakei) ST69HK; and Lactobacillus (Lb.) gasseri ST16HK based on 16S rRNA sequencing. Physiological and phenotypic tests did not show hemolytic, proteinase, or gelatinase activities, as well as production of biogenic amines. In addition, screening for the presence of efaA, cyt, IS16, esp, asa1, and hyl virulence genes and vancomycin-resistant geand ST62HK; Lb. plantarum ST63HK and ST66HK; Lb. sakei ST69HK; and Lb. gasseri ST16HK as promising oral cavity probiotic candidates.
Compilation of different morphological lesion signatures is characteristic of renal pathology. Previous studies have documented the potential value of artificial intelligence (AI) in recognizing relatively clear-cut glomerular structures and patterns, such as segmental or global sclerosis or mesangial hypercellularity. This study aimed to test the capacity of deep learning algorithms to recognize complex glomerular structural changes that reflect common diagnostic dilemmas in nephropathology.

For this purpose, we defined nine classes of glomerular morphological patterns and trained twelve convolutional neuronal network (CNN) models on these. The two-step training process was done on a first dataset defined by an expert nephropathologist (12,253 images) and a second consensus dataset (11,142 images) defined by three experts in the field.

The efficacy of CNN training was evaluated using another set with 180 consensus images, showing convincingly good classification results (kappa-values 0.838-0.938). Furterlapping morphological changes. Our results provide a stimulus for ongoing projects that integrate further input levels next to morphology (such as immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, and clinical information) to develop a novel tool applicable for routine diagnostic nephropathology.
Patients with multiple myeloma often have kidney involvement with acute kidney injury which is frequently due to cast nephropathy. Hemodiafiltration with endogenous reinfusion (HFR) allows removal from the circulation of significant amounts of free light chains (FLCs) responsible for tubular damage.

Between 2014 and 2018, 13 patients affected bymultiple myeloma (64% λ chain and 36% k), including 10 caseswith biopsy-proven cast nephropathy, were treated with this technique. Each patient had high free light chains levelsat diagnosis median 8586mg/l for λ and 4200mg/l for k, and stage III acute kidney injury (median serum creatinine 7.5mg/dl). We initially performed daily HFR-Supra sessions and then modulated them based on renal response (mean 10 sessions/patient). At the same time, the patients also received various chemotherapy regimens, depending on their hematological criteria.

Forty-six percentof patients showed at least partialrenal functionrecovery within the third month, thus allowing dialysis discontinuation; 38% remained on dialysis.
