Unit Remedy within Long-term Cardiovascular Failing: JACC State-of-the-Art Assessment.
Radiomics has the potential to play a pivotal role in oncological translational imaging, particularly in cancer detection, prognosis prediction and response to therapy evaluation. To date, several studies established Radiomics as a useful tool in oncologic imaging, able to support clinicians in practicing evidence-based medicine, uniquely tailored to each patient and tumor. Mineable data, extracted from medical images could be combined with clinical and survival parameters to develop models useful for the clinicians in cancer patients' assessment. As such, adding Radiomics to traditional subjective imaging may provide a quantitative and extensive cancer evaluation reflecting histologic architecture. In this Part II, we present an overview of radiomic applications in thoracic, genito-urinary, breast, neurological, hematologic and musculoskeletal oncologic applications.Acute and chronic liver diseases are a major global public health problem; nevertheless, the etiology of 12-30% of cases remains obscure. The purpose of this research was to study the incidence of human herpesviruses (HHVs) cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), and HHV-6 in patients with hepatitis and to examine the effect of HHV on the disease severity. We studied the clinical materials of 259 patients with hepatitis treated in Infectious Clinic n.1 (Moscow) and the archived materials of 118 patients with hepatitis C. HHV DNA was detected in the whole blood in 13.5% of patients with hepatitis B or C and in 10.1% of patients with hepatitis of unspecified etiology. EBV demonstrated the highest incidence (58.1%). Cirrhosis was diagnosed in 50% of patients with HHV and in 15.6% of patients without HHV. In patients with hepatitis C, the frequency of HHV was higher in liver biopsy (38.7%) compared to blood. The clinical and virological indicators of hepatitis were considerably higher in patients with coinfection. Conclusion HHV detected in patients with viral hepatitis has been associated with a significant effect on the severity of the disease, and we suggest monitoring HHV DNA in patients with severe hepatitis and/or poor response to antiviral drugs. Objective To evaluate the diagnostic performance of selected baseline electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters as predictors of left ventricular remodeling (LVR) in patients with a first ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods The study was performed as a single-center cohort study, with 249 patients (74.7% males) included in the final analysis. Nine baseline ECG parameters were evaluated, with respect to occurrence of LVR 6 months after STEMI (defined as an echocardiography-assessed relative >20% increase in end-diastolic left ventricular volume compared with the value at discharge from hospital). Results The baseline ECG predictors of LVR, identified in univariate analysis, included the number of leads with ST-segment elevation (odds ratio (OR) 1.19, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.03-1.38, p = 0.0212), number of leads with Q-waves (OR 1.21, 95% CI 1.07-1.37, p = 0.0033), sum of ST-segment elevation (OR 1.04, 95% CI 1.00-1.08; p = 0.0253) and maximal ST-segment elevation (OR 1.14; 95% CI 1.00-1.29; p = 0.0446). When added to demographic, clinical and angiographic data, the number of leads with ST-segment elevation (OR 1.17, 95% CI 1.01-1.36; p = 0.0413), number of leads with Q-waves (OR 1.15, 95% CI 1.01-1.32; p = 0.0354) and the sum of ST-segment elevation (OR 1.04, 95% CI 1.00-1.08; p = 0.0331) successfully predicted development of LVR in multivariate logistic regression models. find more However, after inclusion of biochemical data in multivariate models, none of the electrocardiographic parameters, but increasing body weight, TIMI flow after PCI less then 3 and higher maximal values of myocardial necrosis biomarker, was independently associated with the occurrence of LVR 6 months after STEMI. Conclusions Our study demonstrates modest utility of pre-reperfusion ECG for the prediction of LVR occurrence after six months of STEMI.Political ideology is one of the most powerful predictors of perceptions about environmental sustainability and related behaviors. The purpose of this study was to investigate how sport fans' sustainability-specific values, perceptions, and norms related to awareness, engagement, and influence of USA collegiate sport sustainability efforts based on political affiliation, accounting for age and gender. Data were collected using an online survey distributed to season ticket holders after the 2019 college football season that featured three sponsored sustainability initiatives at each home game. Multivariate analysis of variance and chi-square difference tests found that self-identified Democrats reported significantly higher pro-environmental values and norms, but sustainability program engagement, sponsored initiatives awareness, and influence of initiatives on behavior were politically neutral. Path analysis found that ascription of responsibility was a significant predictor of sustainability-related engagement and behaviors for both Independents and Republicans. The results and discussion sections highlight how academics and practitioners can account for political affiliation when creating campaign messaging for environmental initiatives. The paper deals with numerical and experimental investigations of the channel section column subjected to heating and compression at elevated temperature. The analyzed columns were made of titanium alloy (Grade 2) and simply supported on both ends. The research procedure involved initial compression of the column (i), heating the preloaded column (ii) and compression of the column at elevated temperature to failure (iii). The tests were performed at temperatures from 23 °C to 300 °C. Numerical calculations were carried out in the Ansys® software and involved the application of bilinear and multilinear isotropic hardening. It has been revealed that the temperature increase in a statically indeterminate system causes a decrease in the load-carrying capacity of the profile. An increase in temperature by 27 °C causes a reduction of the load-carrying capacity by 10%, while compression at temperature 300 °C reduces the nominal load-carrying capacity of the profile by half. Most of the proposed numerical procedures allowed for accurate estimation of reaction forces during heating and maximum compressive forces recorded during compression at elevated temperatures. The correctness of the determined material characteristics and the suitability of shell models for estimation of the response of a thin-walled structure subjected to thermomechanical loading was confirmed.Multi-parameter water quality monitoring is crucial in resource-limited areas to provide persistent water safety. Conventional water monitoring techniques are time-consuming, require skilled personnel, are not user-friendly and are incompatible with operating on-site. Here, we develop a multi-parameter water quality monitoring system (MWQMS) that includes an array of low-cost, easy-to-use, high-sensitivity electrochemical sensors, as well as custom-designed sensor readout circuitry and smartphone application with wireless connectivity. The system overcomes the need of costly laboratory-based testing methods and the requirement of skilled workers. The proposed MWQMS system can simultaneously monitor pH, free chlorine, and temperature with sensitivities of 57.5 mV/pH, 186 nA/ppm and 16.9 mV/°C, respectively, as well as sensing of BPA with less then 10 nM limit of detection. The system also provides seamless interconnection between transduction of the sensors' signal, signal processing, wireless data transfer and smartphone app-based operation. This interconnection was accomplished by fabricating nanomaterial and carbon nanotube-based sensors on a common substrate, integrating these sensors to a readout circuit and transmitting the sensor data to an Android application. The MWQMS system provides a general platform technology where an array of other water monitoring sensors can also be easily integrated and programmed. Such a system can offer tremendous opportunity for a broad range of environmental monitoring applications. For many years, oncological clinical trials have taken advantage of dendritic cells (DC) for the design of DC-based cellular therapies. This has required the design of suitable quality control assays to evaluate the potency of these products. The purpose of our work was to develop and validate a novel bioassay that uses flow cytometry as a read-out measurement. In this method, CD3+ cells are labeled with a fluorescent dye and the DC costimulatory activity is measured by the degree of T cell proliferation caused by the DC-T cell interaction. The validation of the method was achieved by the evaluation of essential analytical parameters defined by international guidelines. Our results demonstrated that the method could be considered specific, selective, and robust. The comparison between measured values and estimated true values confirmed a high level of accuracy and a lack of systematic error. Repeated experiments have shown the reproducibility of the assay and the proportionality between the potency and the DC amount has proven its linearity. Our results suggest that the method is compliant with the guidelines and could be adopted as a quality control assay or batch-release testing within GMP facilities.
Childhood obesity is a major health challenge in modern societies; therefore, prevention and management policies are needed. This study aims to establish the level of Physical Literacy (PL) in overweight and non-overweight children in Extremadura (Spain), analysing the potential differences between them and exploring their relationships with body composition.

A single-measure cross-sectional study was performed with 135 children, who were taken anthropometric measurements and administered The Canadian Assessment of PL Development (CAPL-2) to assess their level of PL. The CAPL-2 covers four domains and participants to be classified into four levels beginning, progressing, achieving, and excelling. Statistical analysis included descriptive and correlations.

Significant differences between overweight and non-overweight participants were found. Non-overweight participants had higher scores in all the domains included in PL, with the PL level of overweight children mainly being in the two lowest levels. Inverse correlations between body composition variables and PL in all domains (
from -0.223 to -0.507) were found, except for the knowledge domain.

Most of the non-overweight children had higher levels of PL than their overweight counterparts. The PL of overweight children was significantly lower compared to non-overweight children. Healthier body composition values were associated with a better PL.

The produced nanocomposites, at 10% and 60% w/w of RuO2, were tested for the electrochemical oxidation of model tannery wastewaters. The effect of the electrochemical oxidation parameters, like pH, temperature, and current density, on tannic acid, intermediates, and chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal, was investigated. In particular, the electrolysis of a simulated real tannery wastewater, using PVDF HFP_RuO2 60, was optimized working at pH 10, 40 °C, and setting the current density at 600 A/m2. Operating in this way, surfactants, sulfides, and tannins oxidation was achieved in about 2.5 h, ammonium nitrogen oxidation in 3 h, and COD removal in 5 h. When chloride-containing solutions were tested, the purification was due to indirect electrolysis, related to surface redox reactions generating active chlorine. Moreover, sulfide ions were converted into sulfates and ammonium nitrogen in gaseous N2.
