Hexafluorobenzene anions (HFB-) and pentafluorophenyl radicals (PFP) were generated by the electron bombardment of a HFB/Ar sample during matrix deposition. click here Further irradiation of the matrix sample at 365 nm detached the electron from HFB- and produced its neutral counterpart HFB in solid Ar. Secondary photolysis of the matrix sample at 160 nm destroyed HFB and generated HFB- and PFP. In a separate experiment, the photolysis of the HFB/Ar matrix at 160 nm produced PFP, Dewar-C6F6, and various neutral fluorocarbon species, but without the production of HFB-. The infrared (IR) lines of HFB- and PFP were assigned on the basis of the observed photochemical behaviors, as well as by comparing the predictions of the vibrational wavenumbers with the corresponding IR intensities and the relative stabilities of the related species predicted via the B3LYP/aug-cc-pVTZ theory. The interactions of proteins with drugs are very important from a pharmacological point of view. Holo-transferrin is a blood-plasma glycoprotein whose main function is iron-binding and the transport of other ligands. Additionally, the protein is only transferrin-form recognized by TfR1 and TfR2 receptors at the surface of rapidly proliferating malignant cells. Imatinib mesylate is a tyrosine-kinase inhibitor mainly used in the treatment of blood cancers, frequently in multidrug therapy with cyclophosphamide. In this study the effect of cyclophosphamide on the interaction of imatinib mesylate with human holo-transferrin has been investigated. click here Using spectroscopic techniques such as fluorescence, circular dichroism, ultraviolet-visible and electrophoretic light scattering additive parameters, system stability and the effect of the ligands on the protein conformation at varying pH values have been defined. Calculated quenching constants are in the order of 2 × 104 M-1 and the type of interaction depends on the reaction medium. Under physiological conditions binding constant is 1.329 × 106 M-1 whereas in an environment similar to that of cancer cells the constant is significantly lower, Ka = 6.060 × 104 M-1. N values are approximate to 1 in all cases. Moreover, some changes are observed in the α-helical structure of the protein after interaction with the drugs and the presence of cyclophosphamide slightly stabilizes the protein secondary structure. All collected data proves the effect of cyclophosphamide on the interaction between imatinib mesylate and human holo-transferrin. It is of great clinical interest due to anticancer, multidrug therapies including both imatinib mesylate and cyclophosphamide.Naphthalimide-benzothiazole conjugate (NBTZ) linked by cinnamonitrile was designed, synthesized, and fully characterized by NMR (1H, 13C, DEPT, HSQC) and high-resolution mass spectrometry. NBTZ exhibited unique turn-on fluorescence in the presence of CN- with relatively high selectivity compared to other anions such as SCN-, HSO4-, ClO4-, NO3-, Cl-, Br-, I-, and PO4-3 in tetrahydrofuran (THF). The detection limit for CN- was found to be 3.35 × 10-8 M in THF. The sensing mechanism was analyzed through 1H, 13C, DEPT, and mass spectroscopy. NBTZ also showed two-mode aggregation-induced emission (AIE) in THF-H2O mixtures. In a 3070 THF-H2O (v/v) mixture, the maximum AIE was observed at 430 nm (blue) because of the rotation of the CC bond between the naphthalimide ring and the phenyl ring was restricted. In 1090 THF-H2O (v/v), a new red-shifted AIE appeared at 490 nm (cyan), due to the extended π-conjugation induced by restriction of rotation of the CC bond between the benzothiazole and naphthalimide rings. In this work, a dual-functional Cu2+-based ensemble (2S·Cu2+) was well designed and characterized. link= click here Then, the successional and discriminating sensing for CN- over other competitive species (H2PO4- and biothiols) was achieved based on the disaggregation of 2S·Cu2+ ensemble and the deprotonation of imidazole NH of regenerated sensor S in aqueous solution, respectively. The visual sensing mechanism could be clearly demonstrated by 1H NMR, HRMS and energy changes between the HOMO-LUMO band gaps. Furthermore, the reversibility and reusability of S and 2S·Cu2+ upon alternating addition of CN-/H+ and CN-/Cu2+ were studied. Interestingly, the sequential sensing for biothiols (cysteine, glutathione and homocysteine) and CN- was also realized through spectroscopic methodology and test paper strips. This work may provide a feasible strategy to discriminate CN- over H2PO4- and biothiols with high selectivity and sensitivity through Cu2+-based ensembles.Keemun black tea is classified into 7 grades according to the difference in its quality. The appearance and flavour are crucial indicators of its quality. This research demonstrates a rapid grading method of jointly using near-infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS) and computer vision systems (CVS) to evaluate the flavour and appearance quality of tea. link2 A Bruker MPA Fourier Transform near-infrared spectrometer was used to record the spectrum of samples. A computer vision system was used to capture the image of tea leaves in an unobstructed manner. 80 tea samples for each grade were analyzed. The performance of four NIRS feature extraction methods (principal component analysis, local linear embedding, isometric feature mapping, and convolutional neural network (CNN)) was compared in this study. Histograms of six geometric features (leaf width, leaf length, leaf area, leaf perimeter, aspect ratio, and rectangularity) of different tea samples were used to describe their appearance. link3 A feature-level fusion strategy was used to combine softmax and artificial neural networks (ANN) to classify NIRS and CVS features. The results indicated that for an individual NIRS signal, CNN achieved the highest classification accuracy with the softmax classification model. The histograms of the combined shape features indicated that when the softmax classification model was used, the classification accuracy was also higher than ANN. The fusion of NIRS and CVS features proved to be the optimal combination; the accuracy of calibration, validation and testing sets increased from 99.29%, 96.67% and 98.57% (when the optimal features from a single-sensor were used) to 100.00%, 99.29% and 100.00% (when features from multiple-sensors were used). This study revealed that the combination of NIRS and CVS features can be a useful strategy for classifying black tea samples of different grades.High pathologic tumor-node-metastasis (pTNM) stage grade or Fuhrman grade indicates poor oncological outcome in renal cell carcinoma (RCC). Early diagnosis and screening of these RCCs and adjust surgical planning accordingly are greatly beneficial to patients. Raman spectroscopy is a highly specific fingerprint spectrum on molecular level, pretty appropriate for label-free and noninvasive cancer diagnosis. link2 In this work we established a Raman spectrum-based supporting vector machine (SVM) model to accurately ex vivo distinguish human renal tumor from normal tissues and fat with an accuracy of 92.89%. The model can also be used to determine tumor boundary, showing consistent results to pathological staining analysis. This method can be additionally used to accomplish the classification purposes of renal tumor subtypes and grades with an accuracy of 86.79% and 89.53%, respectively. Therefore, we prove that Raman spectroscopy has great potential in the rapid and accurate clinical diagnosis of renal cancers.A thermo-responsive polymer, poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNiPAAm), was copolymerized with acrylic acid (AAc) in this study. Its phase transitions during the heating and cooling processes were investigated using IR spectroscopy, principal component analysis (PCA), and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2D-COS). During the heating process, the hydrogen bonding between side chain in P(NiPAAm-co-AAc) copolymer hydrogel and H2O was broken first, and then the formation of the intramolecular interaction in P(NiPAAm-co-AAc) copolymer hydrogel occurred. However, unlike the heating process, intensities of bands in the CH stretching region were changed before those in the CO stretching including the NH bending region during the cooling process. The results indicate that the phase transition of P(NiPAAm-co-AAc) copolymer hydrogel is an irreversible process at the molecular levels.
Relatively few studies have explored the inter-relationship between screen time (ST), sleep duration and depressive symptoms. link3 The study herein sought to determine (1) the relationships between ST, sleep duration and depressive symptoms among Chinese adolescents; (2) whether sleep duration mediates the relationships between ST and depressive symptoms.

1
grade students (n=1,976) from ten high schools in Guangzhou, China were invited through cluster sampling between January and April 2019. Self-reported ST with electronic devices and Internet, sleep duration, and The Center for Epidemiology Scale for Depression (CES-D) score were collected. Generalized mixed linear models and mediation analyses were conducted.

There were 1,956 self-reported questionnaires received (response rate 98.99%). Approximately 25% (471/1,929 for Internet use, 399/1,928 for electronic device) of the total sample reported ST >2 hours/day. Approximately 8.9% (169/1,894) reported a CES-D score >28. Longer ST with electronic devetween ST and depressive symptoms. Future interventions to manage depressive symptoms should target sleep time and decrease ST among adolescents.
Relative activity deficits found in people with (verses without) depression symptoms/disorders may accumulate uniformly throughout the day, or they may tend to be expressed at specific times. Evidence for the latter would suggest times when behavioral approaches are most needed to reduce depression and its health consequences.

We performed a secondary-data analysis of participants who contributed valid accelerometer data at the 2005-2006 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (n=4390). Participants were categorized according to the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 standard cut-point of ≥10 (i.e., people with versus without clinically significant depression symptoms). Average levels of accelerometer-measured activity in two-hour bins were the dependent variable in mixed models testing if the relationship between depression status and activity level differed by time of day; and if any such relations varied by age group (18-29 years, 30-44 years, 45-59 years, and 60+ years).

In adults over the age of 30, people with depression symptoms had generally lower levels of activity across the day, but these effects were most markedly pronounced in the morning hours. We found no differences in activity levels associated with prevalent depression symptoms among people 18-30 years of age.

Core aspects of depression pathophysiology that produce these different activity patterns and confer their effects on mood were not measured.

In adults 30 years and older, efforts to ameliorate relative activity deficits associated with depression may benefit from considering the apparently outsized role of inactivity that occurs in the morning.
