Replacement UPVC Door Handles
Find the perfect handle for your door, whether you are replacing your existing handles or adding additional security. Upvc handles are simple to fit and comply with the required 92mm centres of multipoint locks.
The backplate's fixing centre as well as the keyhole/lever dimensions are the most important measurements. Compare these measurements carefully with your current measurements prior to ordering.
Lever/Pad
Lever pad door handles consist of an elongated lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. These are designed for use with key wind locks. However they can be affixed to multipoint split spindle door locks.
Once you have selected the correct handle for the doors the finishes will be displayed in the drop-down menu. Not all styles of handles are available in every finish though and you should always check the technical drawings and sizes sections for the particular product you are looking to ensure that you are getting the right size and fit.
It is crucial to ensure that when you choose the new set of upvc lever pad handles, they match the PZ (distance from the handle spindle to the middle of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles need to be aligned in order to ensure that doors stay locked, no matter if you're looking at them from the inside or from the outside. Our handles are designed to fit most conventional cylinders, but it is always worth double-checking before purchasing.
If you want to upgrade to dual spindle levers, you'll need to take out the handles you have already installed and disassemble the lock case. This will require an additional split inline cylinder. They can be purchased separately and we offer the complete technical diagram to look at in the images for each product.
Once you have removed the screws holding the door handle you have, it is a good idea to loosen them and inspect the mechanism to see how it's performing. It is possible that you will need to loosen the screws a bit more if they are not tight. After that, you can take off the spindle and handle and install your new upvc door handle. It is crucial to make sure that the handle is in the right position before screwing it into place. You can do this by placing your finger between the frame, and the handle to make sure that it's in the right position.
Lever/Lever
The lever door handles are used to operate a multi-point lock with an Euro cylinder. They can be located on many double upvc doors as well as some wooden and aluminum doors. They are available in two forms, having a lever on the interior and a paddle on the outside. Sprung - These come with a spring cassette within the backplate that helps bring the handle lever into a horizontal position. Non-sprung - These do not have a spring mechanism, and will require manual pulled to raise the handle lever back to its horizontal position.
To fix a door handle that is sagging it is necessary to find the hole for access to the detent or pin, which is usually a small rectangle or round shape hole or protruding pin that is located on the opposite side of the handle base plate. Once you have located the detent access hole or pin, you are able to take it out using a screwdriver.
Once the handle has been placed horizontally, you can put back the screws. Make sure to tighten them so that the handle is securely attached to the base plate. You may want to apply a threadlocking solution to the screw threads in order to improve grip and prevent them from loosening over time.
Drooping lever door handles could be the result of various causes. The most common reason is that the fixings aren't tight, causing the lever bearing to pull against the door. It could also be that the levers have not been operated at a right angle, which compresses the latch mechanism, preventing it from fully springing into action.
A common cause of a sprung lever not working properly is that the spring is not being in the right position on the backplate. To determine if the handle returns to its horizontal position, simply turn it.
It is important to fix any door handles that are loose as soon as you can. This can cause excessive wear on the screws, and the handle may even be able to fall off the base plate. It is recommended to tighten all loose screws on a regular basis, as this will help to prevent them from loosening.
Lever/Snib
These upvc door handles are also known as handle sets with a 'Snib' and feature a snib button on the top of the lever that you can push down to lock your door if you don't have a fake lock. These handles are fitted with the Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between spindle and the centre of the lock). We also carry a selection of other 68PZ door handles from manufacturers such as Ferco and Fab & Fix.
You can make your home more modern by changing the handles on your doors regardless of whether you're replacing the handles on your existing ones or installing new ones on doors that you have constructed. There are many styles of door handles made of upvc, including traditional lever on backplates, straight or curved short latches, and knob handles with dummy handles for multi point locks, which are ideal for French doors.
Lever on backplate handles are often rectangular in shape, however there are also circular or oval shaped models that are referred to as rose door handles. These handles for doors are identified by a lever or a knob that is attached to the backplate. The backplate can be removed for hidden fixing.
There are a wide range of chrome and colored finishes available for these handles to complement your door and other hardware, like hinges, knobs and bolts. Some handles come with grub screw to attach the lever or knob firmly to the spindle. Other handles come with bathroom spindles that can be used to operate bathroom locks and include a thumbturn turn and release mechanism, perfect for bathroom doors.
Mortise
If your front door's uPVC handle is stuck in the open position, the reason is most likely to be related to the tubular latch. There could be a variety of reasons for this, the first being the simple lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be fixed quite easily by simply opening the door and spraying lubricant on the handle and lock. It could also be that the latch has come loose from the backplate. door handle repairs could be more of a problem and will require a specialist to fix.
A multipoint handle system is the ideal solution for stuck door handles. The handles are positioned through the faceplate and operated with the use of a key or thumb turn knob which activates the cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles come in a variety of sizes to fit different kinds of uPVC door and in a variety of attractive finishes that match existing hardware. The handles are available on the internet or through the local locksmith. They are simple to install and come with clear instructions.
If you want to replace the handle set, you'll need to determine the PZ dimension of the cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the inner frame of the door to the central point of the hole for the handle in millimetres. You will also need the type of lock that is installed on your door, whether it is a mortise or hook lock. Once you know these measurements, the most efficient method to locate the correct handles is to search by brand on the website. This will narrow down your choices and allow you to choose the appropriate size from the list.
A typical handle set comes with the handle with a pair of various length screws drilling guides, as well as installation instructions. Smart versions, like the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+ come with a mortice lock with keypad. These are more complicated units and are best suited to professional installers or competent DIYers. Some handle sets include an array of other accessories, such as weather strips, which can be used to improve the appearance of the door.
