In the past seven years, more in-depth investigations were devoted to the intrinsic structure, magnetic properties, and biological effects of IONPs, expanding the range of their therapeutic application scenes.

This review focuses on the development of IONPs for biomedical applications from the angle of the patent literature reported during the period 2015-2021.

Based on these theories, we predicted that individuals' positive and negative affect levels should particularly influence their behaviour when innate Pavlovian approach/avoidance tendencies conflict with learned instrumental behaviours. Contrary to our hypotheses, we found no evidence for a main effect of positive/negative affect on either approach/avoidance behaviour or Pavlovian-instrumental interactions. However, we did find evidence that the effects of induced affect on behaviour were moderated by individual differences in self-reported behavioural inhibition and gender. Exploratory computational modelling analyses explained these demographic moderating effects as arising from positive correlations between demographic factors and individual differences in the strength of Pavlovian-instrumental interactions. Anticipating the total laser energy (TLE) of Holmium YAG laser required for ureteroscopic (URS) lithotripsy is essential to guide urologists in selecting the optimal fiber size. This study aimed at evaluating the relationship between stone size and stone attenuation measured by HU as predictors for the TLE during the procedure.

We conducted an observational prospective cohort study of patients undergoing URS lithotripsy at the Urology department of Ain Shams University Hospitals from September 2018 to September 2019 with the use of a holmium YAG laser as the lithotripsy method. Patients' demographic and clinical characteristics, stone location, stone size, stone attenuation measured by HU from the non-contrast CT, TLE, and procedure time were recorded. Data were analyzed using Jamovi software (version 2.0 for macOS).

Forty patients were included in the study (22 males and 18 females) with a mean age of 57.8 years. The mean stone size was 9.8 mm
, the mean HU was 858.8 units, and the mean TLE was 3.5 KJ. Both stone size and stone attenuation measured by HU were positively correlated with TLE (
 = 0.81 and 0.84, respectively;
 < 0.001 for both). Further, regression analysis showed that both variables could significantly predict the TLE (
 = 0.001 and 0.71, respectively).

Both stone attenuation, as measured by HU, and stone size positively correlate with TLE required for URS lithotripsy. Therefore, both HU and stone size can predict the TLE, which will be helpful to guide the urologist in selecting the optimal fiber size for the procedure.

Kidd used the posted speed limit as a proxy for the striking vehicle's travel speed prior to the crash. The current study used velocity data from event data recorders (EDRs) in rear-end crashes to evaluate this assumption. These same data were used to replicate another study (Farmer 2003) that showed the speed limit was a poor surrogate for delta-V in rear-end crashes.Method A total of 11,199 crash records during 2017-2020 were extracted from the Crash Investigation Sampling System database. The analysis was restricted to 436 of these records that involved two vehicles with a front-to-rear manner of collision or rear-end crash configuration with EDR data from the striking vehicle.ehicle's travel speed prior to police-reported rear-end crashes on roads with a speed limit above 25 mph. It was not a reasonable surrogate for delta-V. Travel speeds on roads with speed limits of 25 mph or less were much higher than the speed limit, which suggests that existing scenarios used to evaluate FCP system performance represent travel speeds in fewer police-reported rear-end crashes than previously thought. Increasing speed differentials in existing FCP test scenarios to 45 mph would reflect the striking vehicle's travel speed in three quarters of rear-end crashes on roads with a speed limit of 45 mph or less.Emissions from volatile chemical products (VCPs) are emerging as a major source of anthropogenic secondary organic aerosol (SOA) precursors. Paints and coatings are an important class of VCPs that emit both volatile and intermediate volatility organic compounds (VOCs and IVOCs). In this study, we directly measured I/VOC emissions from representative water- (latex) and oil-based paints used in the U.S. Paint I/VOC emissions vary by several orders of magnitude by both the solvent and gloss level. Oil-based paints had the highest emissions (>105 μg/g-paint), whereas low-gloss interior paints (Flat, Satin, and Semigloss) all emitted ∼102 μg/g-paint. Emissions from interior paints are dominated by VOCs, whereas exterior-use paints emitted a larger fraction of IVOCs. Extended emission tests showed that most I/VOC emissions occur within 12-24 h after paint application, though some paints continue to emit IVOCs for 48 h or more. We used our data to estimate paint I/VOC emissions and the subsequent SOA production in the U.S. Total annual paint I/VOC emissions are 48-155 Gg (0.15-0.48 kg/person). These emissions contribute to the formation of 2.2-7.5 Gg of SOA annually. Oil-based paints contribute 70-98% of I/VOC emissions and 61-99% of SOA formation, even though they only account for a minority of paint usage.Objectives. To assess the relationship between the six-minute walk test (6MWT) and health-related quality of life (HRQL) in patients with chronic heart failure. Methods. Forty-six patients (37 men and 9 women) with chronic heart failure, mean age 68 (SD 9), NYHA II-III and EF 29 (9) % were included. They performed 6MWT and assessed HRQL using two tools, a Swedish version of the 36-item Short Form (SF-36) and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ). This was performed repeatedly during a study period of one year. Results. Patients with a walking distance lower than median experienced a lower HRQL than the higher performing half of the cohort, in four dimensions of the SF-36 and the summary of physical and mental components, but not in the dimensions of MLHFQ. Conclusion. Patients with heart failure with a short walking distance assessed their quality of life as inferior in half of the dimensions in the SF-36 but not in the dimensions measured with the MLHFQ. Thus, different aspects of the symptomatology are uncovered using the 6MWT and the different HRQL tools.There is a national debate regarding the existence of a relationship between contact sport participation and future risk of neurodegenerative disease. We employed bibliometrics and altmetrics to quantify the academic, popular, and social media impact of published scientific articles that report an association between contact sports or military service with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE+), and compare with those scientific articles that report null or no association of contact sports or military service with CTE (CTE-). In this cross-sectional study, we extracted number of citations, total link strength, altmetric score, number of news stories, media outlets, and Twitter interaction from published CTE articles. The top 10 most cited articles were statistically compared on these outcomes using Mann-Whitney U tests. CTE+ publications had an average of 101 citations per article, Altmetric score of 272, 36 news stories in 26 media outlets, and upper-bound of Twitter users of 402,159. CTE- publications had an average of 29 citations per article, Altmetric score of 39, two news stories and media outlets, and upper-bound of Twitter users of 91,070. Top 10 CTE+ publications had, on average, 94% more citations (p  less then  0.001), 95% higher altmetric scores (p = 0.01), 99% higher number of news stories (p = 0.01), 98% higher number of media outlets (p = 0.01), and reached 95% more Twitter users than top 10 CTE- publications (p = 0.11). The bibliometric analysis indicates a significant inequality in media dissemination and popular consumption of scientific findings that do not support a relationship between contact sports or military service and future neurodegeneration.
