The present study indicates that repurposing phenothiazine derivatives for treating recalcitrant infections by A. baumannii could be promising.Cytotoxic aggregation of misfolded β-amyloid (Aβ) proteins is the main culprit suspected to be behind the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, Aβ interactions with the novel two-dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) as therapeutic options for avoiding β-amyloid aggregation have been investigated. The results from multi-scale atomistic simulations suggest that amine-functionalized COFs with a large surface area (more than 1000 m2 /gr) have the potential to prevent Aβ aggregation. Gibb's free energy analysis confirmed that COFs could prevent protofibril self-assembly in addition to inhibiting β-amyloid aggregation. Additionally, it was observed that the amine functional group and high contact area could improve the inhibitory effect of COFs on Aβ aggregation and enhance the diffusivity of COFs through the blood-brain barrier (BBB). In addition, microsecond coarse-grained (CG) simulations with three hundred amyloids reveal that the presence of COFs creates instability in the structure of amyloids and consequently prevents the fibrillation. These results suggest promising applications of engineered COFs in the treatment of AD and provide a new perspective on future experimental research.To mitigate anthropogenic impacts on plant diversity in tropical montane grasslands, one of the most threatened ecosystems in Brazil, it will be essential to develop ex situ conservation strategies to preserve wild species. The lack of basic research on the seed storage behaviour of grassland species may, however, limit their use for reintroduction and restoration projects. We investigated seed storage behaviour at the community level by comparing the effects of cold-low RH (10 °C; 10% RH) and freezing-low RH (20 °C; 10% RH) conditions on seed viability, germination and dormancy of 47 species. Cyclopamine Fresh seeds of 43% of the species showed primary dormancy. More than half of the species showed high seed survival responses (viability >60%) under both storage temperatures. Despite a variety of dormancy responses among the different species, the low RH storage conditions tested released dormancy for most species during 12- and 30-month storage times. Multivariate analysis of the best (freezing-low RH, 30 months) storage condition evidenced the formation of five distinct groups, three with species having high conservation potential in seed banks. Although further studies are needed to test dormancy-breaking treatments and improve seed conservation practices, this first approach to assessing seed banking techniques could contribute to demand for locally adapted seeds for ecological restoration projects in tropical montane grasslands.The coronavirus pandemic highlights the urgent need for increased support related to mental health concerns. This study aimed to synthesize the findings of empirical studies reporting the post-traumatic stress symptoms in the general population during the coronavirus pandemic. Whittemore and Knafl's (Journal of Advanced Nursing, 52, 546, 2005) integrative review methodology was used to analyse and synthesize the peer-reviewed studies. Five electronic databases, PubMed, CINAHL, PsychINFO, Cochrane and Google Scholar were searched using terms related to the coronavirus pandemic and post-traumatic stress symptoms. The quality of the studies was screened and evaluated using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. The sample size of the 16 studies included in this review ranged from 41 to 3480 participants, with a total of 18 039 participants. The majority of the participants' ages ranged from 30 to 39 years, and 57% of the participants were female. The following factors related to post-traumatic stress symptoms during the coronavirus pandemic were identified as follows (i) risk factors included social discrimination, fear of uncontrolled contagion and financial burden or economic instability; and, (ii) protective factors included social support and timely government action. A traumatic experience itself can trigger the onset of post-traumatic stress disorder; however, depending on the risk and protection factors, each individual can experience different post-traumatic stress symptoms. Thus, mental health nurses should comprehensively understand how to reduce the influence of risk factors and enhance protective factors when dealing with the pandemic and related trauma. This study's findings are beneficial for identifying, preventing and managing post-traumatic stress symptoms associated with the coronavirus and future pandemics.
Coronavirus 2019 disease (COVID-19) has variable clinical, sinonasal, and smell/taste outcomes.
Observational study was conducted at a tertiary hospital in Amman, Jordan. Demographic data, clinical presentation and smoking status were collected. Sinonasal symptoms, using Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22) Questionnaire, were evaluated. Smell/taste dysfunction was followed for three months.
Ninety-Seven patients had satisfactory responses. Eighty-six patients were symptomatic (41 at presentation, and 45 during admission). Among those patients, 59.3% had cough, 52.3% sore throat and 48.8% fever. The most common initial symptom was sore throat. Shortness of breath and smell/taste dysfunction were significantly higher in females. Surprisingly, shortness of breath was more common in non-smokers. Smell/taste dysfunction affected 25.6% of patients, but was the first symptom in only one patient. Fourteen of 22 symptoms in SNOT-22 had significant increase. The overall average of symptoms scores increased from 0.472 to 1.034, with smell/taste dysfunction to have the most increment. The latter symptom recovered completely in 81% and dysgeusia developed in 9.5% at three months, and it recovered completely in all patients at six months.

Assess the feasibility of using light from artificial sun lamps to decontaminate N95 filtering facepiece respirators (FFRs) contaminated with SARS-CoV-2.

(target concentration) SARS-CoV-2 in culture media, simulated saliva, or simulated lung fluid were dried for 1-2h, then exposed to light from tanning and horticulture lamps to assess decontamination. Exposed coupons and whole FFRs showed SARS-CoV-2 inactivation for all matrices tested. Furthermore, FFRs still met performance specifications after five decontamination cycles.
It is feasible that artificial sunlight from these sun lamps can be used to decontaminate FFRs provided the UV dose is sufficient and the light is unobstructed. Furthermore, decontamination can be performed up to five times without degrading FFR performance.

However, concentrated electrolytes with aggregative configurations were achieved at the expense of using extra dose of costly and environmental-unfriendly salts/additives, which casts a shadow over the development of a sustainable world. Herein, without using any expensive salts/additives, we employed commercially-available low-cost and environmental-friendly molecular sieves (zeolite) to sieve the solvation sheath of lithium ions of classic commercialized electrolyte (LiPF6 -EC/DMC), and resulting in a unique zeolite sieved electrolyte which was more aggregative than conventional concentrated electrolytes. Inspiringly, the new-designed electrolyte exhibited largely enhanced anti-oxidation stability under high-voltage (4.6 volts) and elevated temperature (55 °C). NCM-811//Li cells assembled with this electrolyte delivered ultra-stable rechargeabilities (over 1000 cycles for half-cell; 300 cycles for pouch-cell). More importantly, sustainable NCM-811//Li pouch-cell with negligible capacity decay can also be obtained through using recyclable zeolite sieved electrolyte. This conceptually-new way in preparing safe and highly-efficient electrolyte by using low-price molecular sieve would accelerate the development of high-energy-density lithium-ion/lithium-metal batteries.
This study aimed to describe the real-world therapeutic management of patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) (LUTS/BPH) attending primary care and urology clinics in Spain.
This observational, retrospective, multicentre study included men ≥50years of age diagnosed with LUTS/BPH (≤8years prior to study visit) (N=670). Therapeutic management according to healthcare service (primary care vs. urology clinics) or progression criteria, proportion of patients with treatment change, patient profile according to therapy and evolution of LUTS severity were assessed.
Overall differences were noticed in the management of patients between healthcare service (P<.001) and with or without progression criteria (P<.05). Most patients received pharmacological treatment at diagnosis (70.7%; 474/670), which increased at study visit (81.6%; 547/670) with overall similar profiles between primary care and urology clinics for each therapy. α1-Blockers were the most usedboth primary care and urologists existing clinical guideline recommendations for the appropriate medical management of patients with LUTS/BPH.
Novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) poses a huge threat to the global public health. This study aimed to identify predictive indicators of severe COVID-19.
We retrospectively collected clinical data on hospital admission of all patients with severe COVID-19 and a control cohort (11) of gender- and hospital-matched patients with mild disease from 13 designated hospitals in the Hebei Province between 22 January and 15 April 2020.
