Despite the importance of having trust in the health system, there is a paucity of research in this field in Sweden. The aim of this study was to estimate the level of trust in the health system and to assess the factors associated with it in northern Sweden.

A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2014 in the four northern regions of Sweden. A total of 24795 participants (48% response rate) aged 18 to 84years were involved in the study. A log-binomial regression was used to measure the association between sociodemographic factors and trust in the health system.

Two thirds of the participants (68.5%) reported high trust in the health system i.e. check details had very much or quite a lot confidence in the health system. Women had lower prevalence of trust compared to men (PR = 0.96; 95% CI = 0.94-0.98) while older participants had a higher trust compared to youth (PR = 1.11; 95% CI = 1.06-1.16). Participants with lower level of education, those who experienced economic stress, those who were born outside Sweden and those living in small municipalities also had lower prevalence of trust in the health system. Conversely, lower income was associated with higher trust (PR = 1.08; 95% CI = 1.04-1.12). Finally, a strong relationship between higher social capital (having emotional and instrumental support, horizontal trust, and higher social participation) and trust in the health system was also found.

Deep-learning-based methods have been used to reconstruct images behind scattering media under complex scattering conditions, but improvements in the quality of the reconstructed images are required.

Light reflected from an object passing through glass diffusers is captured by changing the image plane of an optical imaging system. Images are reconstructed by deep learning, and evaluated in terms of structural similarity index measure, classification accuracy of digital images, and training and testing error curves.

The reconstruction accuracy was improved for the case in which the diffuser was imaged, compared to the case where the object was imaged. The training and testing error curves show that the loss converged to lower values in fewer epochs when the diffuser was imaged.

The objective of the study was to assess the efficacy of autologous platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in the treatment of patellar tendinopathy.

The PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases were searched for clinical trials which compared PRP injection with other 'active treatment' interventions ('Non-PRP' injection and 'No-injection' treatments) or 'No-active treatment' interventions. Randomized and non-randomized clinical trials that had been published up to 15 November 2021, were included in the meta-analysis. The primary outcome, pain relief, was measured on a 'visual analog scale.' Secondary outcomes were knee functional activities and quality of life (QoL). The PRISMA guidelines were followed throughout the study.

Eight comparative studies were identified for inclusion in the meta-analysis. Assessment of these studies revealed that there were no significant differences in pain relief, functional outcomes, and QoL in the short, medium, and lo significantly greater clinical benefit than Non-PRP injections in the treatment of patellar tendinopathy. However, in comparison with ESWT, there was a significant benefit in favor of PRP injection.

Large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels are important in regulating neurotransmission in sensory circuits, including visual pathways. Deficits in visual function can contribute substantially to poor quality of life, while therapeutic approaches aimed at addressing such visual deficits represent opportunities to improve neurocognitive and neurobehavioral outcomes.

The data suggest that large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels play an important role in the normal functioning of the visual pathway in humans, and that their disruption may play a role in visual and other sensory system symptomatology in large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channelopathies or conditions where disruption of large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channel function is a relevant feature of the pathophysiology, such as fragile X syndrome. This work suggests that the combined use of physiological (electroretinography) and functional (contrast sensitivity) approaches may have utility as a biomarker strategy for identifying and characterizing visual processing deficits in individuals with large-conductance calcium-activated potassium channelopathy. Retinoid-related orphan receptor-α (RORα) and autophagy dysregulation are involved in the pathophysiology of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), but little is known regarding their association. We investigated the role of RORα in COPD-related autophagy.

The lung tissues and cells from a mouse model were analyzed for autophagy markers by using western blot analysis and transmission electron microscopy.

Cigarette smoke increased the LC3-II level and decreased the p62 level in whole lung homogenates of a chronic cigarette smoking mouse model. Although cigarette smoke did not affect the levels of p62 in Staggerer mutant mice (RORα
), the baseline expression levels of p62 were significantly higher than those in wild type (WT) mice. Autophagy was induced by cigarette smoke extract (CSE) in Beas-2B cells and in primary fibroblasts from WT mice. In contrast, fibroblasts from RORα
mice failed to show CSE-induced autophagy and exhibited fewer autophagosomes, lower LC3-II levels, and higher p62 levels than fibroblasts from WT mice. Damage-regulated autophagy modulator (DRAM), a p53-induced modulator of autophagy, was expressed at significantly lower levels in the fibroblasts from RORα
mice than in those from WT mice. DRAM knockdown using siRNA in Beas-2B cells inhibited CSE-induced autophagy and cell death. Furthermore, RORα co-immunoprecipitated with p53 and the interaction increased p53 reporter gene activity.

Triosephosphate isomerase 1 (TPI1), as a key glycolytic enzyme, is upregulated in multiple cancers. However, expression profile and regulatory mechanism of TPI1 in breast cancer (BRCA) remain mysterious.

Western blotting and immunohistochemistry (IHC) assays were used to investigate the expression of TPI1 in BRCA specimens and cell lines. TPI1 correlation with the clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis of 362 BRCA patients was analyzed using a tissue microarray. Overexpression and knockdown function experiments in cells and mice models were performed to elucidate the function and mechanisms of TPI1-induced BRCA progression. Related molecular mechanisms were clarified using co-IP, IF, mass spectrometric analysis, and ubiquitination assay.

We have found TPI1 is highly expressed in BRCA tissue and cell lines, acting as an independent indicator for prognosis in BRCA patients. TPI1 promotes BRCA cell glycolysis, proliferation and metastasis in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, TPI1 activates phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway to regulate epithelial-mesenchymal transformation (EMT) and aerobic glycolysis, which is positively mediated by cell division cycle associated 5 (CDCA5). Moreover, TPI1 interacts with sequestosome-1 (SQSTM1)/P62, and P62 decreases the protein expression of TPI1 by promoting its ubiquitination in MDA-MB-231 cells.

Microcystic adnexal carcinoma (MAC) is a skin cancer with challenges in diagnosis and management. This study was aimed to detect molecular alterations of MAC and guide its pathologic diagnosis and treatment.

We performed transcriptome analysis on 5 MAC and 5 normal skin tissues, identified the differentially expressed genes, and verified them by immunohistochemistry.

Three hundred four differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in MAC were identified by next-generation transcriptome sequencing, among which 225 genes were upregulated and 79 genes were downregulated. Four genes of the calcium signaling pathway, including calcium voltage-gated channel subunit alpha 1 S (CACNA1S), ATPase sarcoplasmic/endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ transporting 1 (ATP2A1), ryanodine receptor 1 (RYR1), and myosin light chain kinase 3 (MYLK3), were upregulated and then been verified by immunohistochemistry. The expression of CACNA1S, ATP2A1, RYR1, and MYLK3 was upregulated in MAC compared with normal sweat glands and syringoma tumor cells and was generally negative in trichoepithelioma and infundibulocystic type basal cell carcinoma.
