7 mg/100 g fresh matter). Because of the possible link between chocolate intake and observed signs, an immediate cessation of using the chocolate chips was recommended in addition to an optimisation of the TMR, that is an increase of the energy density. Even though the theobromine intake during the time of the incidence is unknown and information about toxicity of theobromine in ruminants is limited, we suspect that the feeding of chocolate in this case caused all signs including the sudden death of the cows. Further reasons are that no differential diagnoses were established and the problems at the farm stopped after removing the chocolate from the TMR.Xenograft bone substitutes are obtained from different species and prepared by various procedures including heat treatment, hydrazine, and chemical and hydrothermal methods. These grafts are utilized widely because of similar structure and properties to human bone, proper bone formation, and biocompatibility. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate different xenografts from structural and chemical aspects. In vitro studies published in English language, which assessed xenografts' features, met the inclusion criteria. Electronic search of four databases including PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science and a hand search until September 2020 were performed. The irrelevant studies were the ones which focused on cell adhesion and effect of growth factors. Finally, 25 studies were included in the review. Nineteen studies used bovine xenografts, and 12 studies applied heat treatment as their preparation method. Particles showed various morphologies, and their largest size was observed at 5 mm. From 18 studies, it is found that the smallest pore size was 1.3 µm and the highest pore size was 1000 µm. There is large heterogeneity of porosity, crystallinity, Ca/P ratio, and osteogenesis based on the preparation method. Proper porosity and the connection between pores affect bone regeneration. Therefore, biomaterial selection and outcomes evaluation should be interpreted separately.Accumulating evidence indicates that epigenetic control of gene expression plays a significant role during cell lineage commitment and subsequent cell fate maintenance. Here, we assess epigenetic mechanisms operating in the rat brain that mediate silencing of genes that are expressed during early and late stages of osteogenesis. We report that repression of the osteoblast master regulator Sp7 in embryonic (E18) hippocampus is mainly mediated through the Polycomb complex PRC2 and its enzymatic product H3K27me3. During early postnatal (P10), juvenile (P30), and adult (P90) hippocampal stages, the repressive H3K27me3 mark is progressively replaced by nucleosome enrichment and increased CpG DNA methylation at the Sp7 gene promoter. In contrast, silencing of the late bone phenotypic Bglap gene in the hippocampus is PRC2-independent and accompanied by strong CpG methylation from E18 through postnatal and adult stages. Forced ectopic expression of the primary master regulator of osteogenesis Runx2 in embryonic hippocampal neurons activates the expression of its downstream target Sp7 gene. Moreover, transcriptomic analyses show that several genes associated with the mesenchymal-osteogenic lineages are transcriptionally activated in these hippocampal cells that express Runx2 and Sp7. This effect is accompanied by a loss in neuronal properties, including a significant reduction in secondary processes at the dendritic arbor and reduced expression of critical postsynaptic genes like PSD95. Together, our results reveal a developmental progression in epigenetic control mechanisms that repress the expression of the osteogenic program in hippocampal neurons at embryonic, postnatal, and adult stages.
The objectives of this study are to determine the overall and racial differences in the extent of caries experience and to examine the association between child and parent/caregiver characteristics and caries among 3-6-year-old Medicaid-enrolled children.

This study reports baseline cross-sectional data from a larger pragmatic clinical trial in pediatric primary care practices. Child-level clinical dental exams included decayed and filled teeth (dft) using ICDAS criteria and parent/caregiver questionnaire collected information on socio-demographics, child oral health behaviors, oral health related quality of life (OHQoL), and food environment.

A total of 1,024 parent/caregiver-child dyads participated in the study. The overall caries experience (dft) was 49 percent and untreated decay was 42 percent. Children who were Black had 1.3 and 1.2 times significantly higher frequency of untreated primary decay and caries experience compared to non-Black children. An overall logistic regression model predicted t important role in decreasing oral health inequities.
Obsessive attention to healthy eating might paradoxically lead to physical and psychosocial impairments, a potential eating disorder termed orthorexia nervosa (ON). An ongoing debate concerns whether ON should be categorized as an eating disorder, an obsessive-compulsive disorder, or a mental disorder at all. A missing voice in this debate is ON in the elderly, which remains unknown, despite health being a more central issue in everyday life during old age. Similarly missing is ON in East Asia, which remains largely unexplored.

The current study investigated ON in 313 Chinese elderly (M = 67.90, SD = 7.94) using the Chinese version of the Düsseldorf Orthorexia Scale (C-DOS). Questionnaires were used to measure traditional eating disorder symptomatology, body image (body dissatisfaction, body appreciation, and functionality appreciation), lifestyle behaviors (fruit and vegetable consumption and time spent on physical activity), and indexes of well-being (psychological distress, food-related quality of life, and life satisfaction).

ON symptoms were positively related to physical activity, fruit and vegetable (F&V) consumption, body appreciation, functionality appreciation, and life satisfaction, but negatively related to body dissatisfaction. Compared with those without ON, the elderly with ON scored higher on positive psychological/lifestyle measures but lower on negative psychological measures.

Contrary to the dominant characterization of ON as a variant of disordered eating, in Chinese elderly ON was associated with several positive lifestyle and psychological measures. Thus, ON in the elderly might not be viewed as a form of disordered eating but can be protective and beneficial.

Despite the association between intravenous contrast and kidney injury, few studies exist in oncology. Our objective was to estimate kidney outcomes following iodinated contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CECT) in cancer patients, and to evaluate whether self-assessment questionnaires can identify kidney injury risk factors.

This prospective observational study included 289 patients who underwent a CECT scan between March and May 2017 in a hospital setting. All patients completed the modified European Society of Urogenital Radiology (ESUR) questionnaire and had an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) >30ml/min/1.73m
on the day of the examination. Outcomes were followed for 4months. Univariate and logistic regression analyses were carried out.

In the logistic regression analysis, the only variables statistically associated with deterioration in the eGFR were age, (odds ratio (OR)=1.091, p=0.003), female sex, (OR 0.22, p=0.020) and arterial hypertension (AH), (OR=3.57, p=0.019). Regarding exitus, only the group with a worse eGFR was close to predictive statistical significance (OR=2.48, p=0.09).

The administration of iodinated contrast in cancer patients was not associated with an increase in kidney outcomes. Risk factors in these patients were age, sex and AH.

A poor doping efficiency is obtained when doping directly using NOBF4 forming a large energy offset with the CP, while the devised doping strategy is found to significantly improve the doping efficiency (electrical conductivity) by sequentially treating the NOBF4 to the pre-doped CP with 2,3,5,6-tetrafluoro-7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquino-dimethane (F4TCNQ), establishing a relatively small energy level offset. It is verified that the cascade doping strategy requires receptive sites for each dopant to further improve the doping efficiency, and provides fast reaction kinetics energetically. An outstanding electrical conductivity (>610 S cm-1 ) is achieved through the optimization of the devised doping strategy, and spectroscopy analysis, including Hall effect measurement, supports more efficient charge carrier generation via the devised cascade doping.A goal of the comparative approach is to test a variety of species on the same task. Here, we examined whether the factors that helped capuchin monkeys improve their performance in a dichotomous choice task would generalize to three other primate species orangutans, gorillas, and drill monkeys. In this task, subjects have access to two options, each resulting in an identical food, but one (the ephemeral option) is only available if it is chosen first, whereas the other one (the permanent option) is always available. Therefore, the food-maximizing solution is to choose the ephemeral option first, followed by the permanent option for an additional reward. On the original version (plate task), the options were discriminated by the color and pattern of the plates holding the food, while on two subsequent versions we used altered cues that we predicted would improve performance (1) the color of the foods themselves (color task), which we hypothesized was relevant to primates, who choose foods rather than substrates on which foods are found when foraging, and (2) patterned cups covering the foods (cup task), which we hypothesized would help primates avoid the prepotent response associated with visible food. Like capuchins, all three species initially failed to solve the plate task. However, while orangutans improved their performance from the plate to the color task, they did not for the cup task, and only a few gorillas and no drills succeeded in either task. click here Unfortunately, our ability to interpret these data was obscured by differences in the subjects' level of experience with cognitive testing and practical constraints that precluded the use of completely identical procedures across species. Nonetheless, we consider what these results can tell us, and discuss the value of conducting studies across multiple sites despite unavoidable differences.
