Despite its many advanced features, the ET-16600 is relatively compact and light, thanks to a smart design that minimizes the number of internal components. It measures 13.8 by 20.3 by 19.7 inches (with the trays closed) and weighs 46.1 pounds. That makes it a good choice for a small or home office, especially if you need to share the printer with other people in the same space.

Its weight and small footprint are also a big plus if you plan to transport the printer from place to place. It's not a particularly rugged unit, however, so be careful when lifting it. It has a handle at the back to help you carry it, but that only adds a few pounds of extra weight to an already heavy machine.

In terms of running costs, the ET-16600 is a bit pricey for monochrome documents and expensive for color pages. But it's significantly cheaper than most entry-level and midrange color lasers, so its lower per-page cost should entice you to use it for more jobs.

The printer's other advantage over most of its competitors is that it comes with two years of unlimited ink. As long as you print the manufacturer's suggested volume of 3,300 pages a month, Epson will reimburse you for all of your ink purchases during that time. That amounts to a total of about $780 in free ink, which is more than enough for most businesses to pay for the cost of the printer. That's a very generous offer, and I hope that Epson continues it for a long time to come. It's a great way to keep the per-page cost down for users of large-format Epson printers. This is the only large-format printer I've ever seen with this kind of deal.
