); P=0.001]. Conclusion Although the virulence of the Delta is stronger than Alpha strain, most patients infected with Delta strain vaccinated against COVID-19 in Zhejiang province had milder clinical symptoms and a lower incidence and degree of liver injury. Notably, the infection risk even remains after vaccination; however, symptoms and the incidence of severe and critical illness can be significantly reduced. Objective To investigate the clinical features and influencing factors of liver function injury in patients with 2019-nCoV/SARS-CoV-2 Omicron mutant strains. Methods 1 183 confirmed imported cases of SARS-CoV-2 who were admitted at Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center (affiliated to Fudan University) from July 1, 2021 to January 15, 2022 were collected. Clinical data, viral genotyping and laboratory test results were collected to retrospectively analyze the basic condition and clinical characteristics of liver function injury. Statistical analysis was performed using t-test or Wilcoxon rank-sum test, χ2 test or Fisher's exact test, Pearson correlation test and logistic regression analysis. Results 125 (10.6%) cases had raised baseline ALT level and 60 (5.1%) cases had abnormal baseline AST level. Among them, 33 cases (2.8%) had received hepatoprotective drugs. Liver function injury was generally mild in SARS-CoV-2 infection and minimal in Omicron mutant strains. Leukocyte count was increased in patients witr ulinastatin after hospital admission (OR=6.89, P=0.034) had a higher risk of worsening liver function. Conclusions Liver dysfunction could be observed among COVID-19 patients. Patients infected with omicron variant generally showed mild liver injury. Dynamic monitoring of liver function is necessary, especially among those with baseline elevated IL-6, D-Dimer level and use of antiinflammation medication during treatment.Since the discovery of circulating hepatitis B virus (HBV) RNA in the peripheral blood of patients with chronic hepatitis B in 1996, a growing number of studies have focused on clarifying the biological characteristics and clinical application value of serum HBV RNA. This consensus mainly summarizes the research progress of serum HBV RNA existing profiles, quantitative detection methods, and current clinical applications. In order to better apply this indicator for the clinical management of patients with chronic HBV infection, recommendations on quantitative detection target regions, detection results, and clinical applications are put forward.Since the discovery of circulating hepatitis B virus (HBV) RNA in the peripheral blood of patients with chronic hepatitis B in 1996, a growing number of studies have focused on clarifying the biological characteristics and clinical application value of serum HBV RNA. It will be most helpful in improving survival and life quality, if patients are diagnosed in the early stage and treated appropriately, which also helps relieve social medical burdens. C-176 Chinese consensus on the diagnosis and management of autoimmune hepatitis (2015) has contributed to standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of AIH.On the basis of the first consensus, at the end of 2021, under the organization of Chinese Society of Hepatology, experts devise this guide with latest advances aiming to further improve the level of diagnosis and management of autoimmune hepatitis.Over the past two years, the COVID-19 disease caused by 2019-nCoV infection has continued to affect human health, posing a great threat to global public health. Several studies have shown that different degrees of liver injury can occur in patients with COVID-19, which is closely related with severe forms of the disease. Therefore, it is necessary for clinicians to further understand the characteristics, diagnosis and treatment methods of COVID-19-associated liver injury.Patients infected with 2019-nCoV/SARS-CoV-2 are usually accompanied with liver injury, which may correlates with the severe forms of the disease. The pathogenesis of COVID-19-associated liver injury is not only related to the underlying liver diseases, viral cholangitis, systemic inflammatory response, and hypoxic liver injury, but also to multiple factors that lead to liver injury in patients. Therefore, during the course of treatment, the patient's liver function should be closely monitored, and attention should be paid to the occurrence of drug-induced liver injury.Adenovirus infection can occur in all regions or countries of the world, with no obvious seasonality, but pandemics mostly occur in winter or early spring. Adenovirus infection is self-limited among immunocompetent host with supportive care, however fatal infection can occur among immunocompromised patients, mainly affecting respiratory, gastrointestinal tract and adjunctiva and very rarely causing hepatitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, hemorrhagic cystitis, myocarditis, meningitis or encephalitis. Adenovirus hepatitis mainly occur in malignant tumors or organ transplantation patients, but acute severe hepatitis can occur even in immunocompetent children or adults. On 5 April 2022, WHO was notified of 10 cases of severe acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in children. As of 21 April 2022, at least 169 cases of acute hepatitis of unknown origin have been reported from 12 countries (including 11 WHO European Region countries and the United States). Adenovirus has been detected in at least 74 cases; SARS-CoV-2 was identified in 20 cases of those that were tested. Furthermore, 19 were detected with a SARS-CoV-2 and adenovirus co-infection. At present, the etiology has not been fully elucidated. The leading hypotheses center around adenovirus, and the relationship with SARS-CoV-2 needs to be further ruled out.In April 2022, the United Kingdom was the first to report 74 cases of severe acute hepatitis in children monitored across different parts of the country. Hepatitis A to E viruses were not the common infectious etiological agents. As a result, the World Health Organization is closely monitoring reports of its unknown etiology and high severity incidence, and has warned that more cases are likely to come. As of May 1, 2022, 20 countries in the world have reported 228 cases. This paper briefly introduces the general situation of this outbreak.Imparting chirality affords additive values, functions and responsiveness in molecular systems including nanoscale materials. Here, we report pathway-dependent chirality control in silver nanoclusters (NCs). The use of enantiomeric ligand, α-dihydrolipoic acid (DHLA), for the synthesis of Ag NCs leads to the preferential formation of one-handed chiral Ag29 (DHLA)12 NCs with intrinsic chirality in the exterior shell composed of a silver-dithiolate framework. Small Lewis base molecules such as pyridine bind to silver atoms in the shell of NC as a guest. The guest binding reverses the relative stability between the right- and left-handed NCs upon a steric interaction with the chiral ligand DHLA in the exterior shell in a kinetic manner, leading to unprecedented chirality inversion in the synthesis of NCs. This mechanism is further extended to the self-regulation or self-replication of chirality through interNC interactions dependent on the concentration in the synthesis of NCs.Compared with heteroarenes, homogeneous asymmetric hydrogenation of all-carbon aromatic rings is a longstanding challenge in organic synthesis due to the strong aromaticity and difficult enantioselective control. Herein, we report the rhodium/diphosphine-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of all-carbon aromatic rings, affording a series of axially chiral cyclic compounds with high enantioselectivity through desymmetrization or kinetic resolution. In addition, the central-chiral cyclic compounds were also obtained by asymmetric hydrogenation of phenanthrenes bearing a directing group. The key to success is the introduction of chiral diphosphine ligands with steric hindrance and strong electron-donating properties. The axially chiral monophosphine ligands could be obtained by simple conversion of the hydrogenation products bearing the phosphine atom.Herein, we present the divergent syntheses of α-arylacylamides and oxindoles via mechanoredox chemistry by using easily accessible α-bromo N-sulfonyl amides as starting materials. Our system consists of a catalytic amount of CuII precatalyst and piezoelectric materials. The highly polarized BaTiO3 or PbTiO3 under mechanical agitation can act as an electron donor to realize the recycling of CuII and CuI . Control experiments and density functional theory calculations have been performed to support the proposed mechanistic rationale for the cascade reactions. The oxidation products of dimethyl sulfide (DMS) contribute to the production and growth of cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) in the marine boundary layer. Recent work demonstrates that DMS is oxidized by OH radicals to the stable intermediate hydroperoxymethyl thioformate (HPMTF), which is both globally ubiquitous and efficiently lost to multiphase processes in the marine atmosphere. At present, there are no experimental measurements of the reactive uptake of HPMTF to aerosol particles, limiting model implementation of multiphase HPMTF chemistry. Using an entrained aerosol flow reactor combined with chemical ionization mass spectrometry (CIMS), we measured the reactive uptake coefficient (γ) of HPMTF to dry sodium chloride (NaCl), wet NaCl, and wet sodium iodide (NaI) particles to be (1.9 ± 1.3) × 10-4, (1.6 ± 0.6) × 10-3, and (9.2 ± 2.3) × 10-1, respectively. While we did not directly measure the condensed-phase products of HPMTF reactive uptake in this experiment, the ionization products observed in the CIMS instrument provide mechanistic insight on the reaction mechanism of HPMTF with halides.
Alcohol consumption and smoking have been reported to be associated with psoriasis risk. However, a conclusion with high-quality evidence of causality could not be easily drawn from regular observational studies.
This study aims to assess the causal associations of alcohol consumption and smoking with psoriasis.
Genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary-level data for alcohol consumption (N = 941 280), smoking initiation (N = 1 232 091), cigarettes per day (N = 337 334) and smoking cessation (N = 547 219) was obtained from the GSCAN consortium (Sequencing Consortium of Alcohol and Nicotine use). The GWAS results for lifetime smoking (N = 462 690) were obtained from the UK Biobank samples. Summary statistics for psoriasis were obtained from a recent GWAS meta-analysis of eight cohorts comprising 19 032 cases and 286 769 controls and the FinnGen consortium, comprising 4510 cases and 212 242 controls. Linkage disequilibrium score regression was applied to compute the genetic correlation. Bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses were conducted to determine casual direction using independent genetic variants that reached genome-wide significance (P < 5 × 10
