These included the number of angles (0-4 points), distance/intersection between the two drawn figures (0-4 points), closure/opening of the drawn figure contours (0-2 points), and tremors detected (0-1 points). It showed strong antagonism against a battery of plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria, and controlled wheat sharp eyespot and tobacco wildfire diseases efficiently. Further tests showed that strain S58 solubilized organic phosphate and produced siderophore, protease, ammonia, and indole-3-acetic acid. In Arabidopsis thaliana, it promoted plant growth and changed root system architecture by restricting the growth of primary roots and increasing lateral root numbers. We relied on morphological, biochemical, physiological characteristics, and molecular phylogenic analysis to identify strain S58 as Pseudomonas mediterranea. The complete genome of strain S58 has a single circular chromosome of 6,150,838 bp with a 61.06% G+C content. The bacterial genome contained 5,312 predicted genes with an average length of 992.90 bp. A genome analysis suggested that P. mediterranea S58 was a rich cyclic lipopeptide (CLP)-producing strain that possessed seven non-ribosomal peptide gene clusters for CLP synthesis. Leaf inoculation of the bacterial culture and supernatants triggered cell death-like immunity in tobacco. Quantitative real-time PCR assays showed that the strain S58 induced the expression of pattern-triggered immunity and cell death marker genes, but not jasmonic acid marker genes. The results suggested that P. mediterranea S58 is a novel, versatile plant growth-promoting agent with multiple beneficial traits for plants.The aim of this study is to track the dynamic alterations in nutrient intake and digestion, rumen fermentation and plasma metabolic characteristics, and rumen bacterial community of Holstein finishing steers in response to three nutrient density diets as fattening phases advanced. A total of eighteen Holstein steers were randomly allocated into three nutrient density groups and steers in each group were fed under a three-phase fattening strategy, with nutrient density increased in each group when fattening phase advanced. Results showed that both fattening phase and dietary nutrient density significantly influenced the nutrient digestion, most of the rumen fermentation parameters, and part of bacteria at phylum and genus levels. Individually, dietary nutrient density affected the concentrations of plasma alanine aminotransferase and urea N, bacterial richness and evenness. All determined nutrient intake and plasma biochemical parameters, except for alanine aminotransferase and triglyceride, differed among fattening phases. Spearman correlation analysis revealed strong correlations between fiber intake and bacterial richness and evenness, rumen fermentation characteristics and certain bacteria. Moreover, Patescibacteria abundance was positively correlated with ambient temperature and plasma total protein. These results indicate that rumen fermentation and nutrient digestion were influenced by both dietary nutrient density and fattening phase, and these influences were regulated by certain rumen bacterial community and ruminal bacteria may be affected simultaneously by ambient temperature. This study may provide insights into diet optimization and potentially adaptive mechanism of rumen bacterial community in response to fattening phases and gradually climatic change.Tuberculosis (TB) has a very high mortality rate worldwide. However, only a few studies have examined the associations between short-term exposure to air pollution and TB incidence. Our objectives were to estimate associations between short-term exposure to air pollutants and TB incidence in Wuhan city, China, during the 2015-2016 period. We applied a generalized additive model to access the short-term association of air pollution with TB. Daily exposure to each air pollutant in Wuhan was determined using ordinary kriging. The air pollutants included in the analysis were particulate matter (PM) with an aerodynamic diameter less than or equal to 2.5 micrometers (PM2.5), PM with an aerodynamic diameter less than or equal to 10 micrometers (PM10), sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), carbon monoxide (CO), and ground-level ozone (O3). Daily incident cases of TB were obtained from the Hubei Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Hubei CDC). Both single- and multiple-pollutant models were used to examine the associations between air pollution and TB. Seasonal variation was assessed by splitting the all-year data into warm (May-October) and cold (November-April) seasons. In the single-pollutant model, for a 10 μg/m3 increase in PM2.5, PM10, and O3 at lag 7, the associated TB risk increased by 17.03% (95% CI 6.39, 28.74), 11.08% (95% CI 6.39, 28.74), and 16.15% (95% CI 1.88, 32.42), respectively. In the multi-pollutant model, the effect of PM2.5 on TB remained statistically significant, while the effects of other pollutants were attenuated. The seasonal analysis showed that there was not much difference regarding the impact of air pollution on TB between the warm season and the cold season. Our study reveals that the mechanism linking air pollution and TB is still complex. Further research is warranted to explore the interaction of air pollution and TB.Introduction Intestinal colonization with multi-drug resistant (MDR) microorganisms is a consequence of antimicrobial-induced gut dysbiosis. Given the effect of probiotics in modulating gut microbiota, the aim of the study was to investigate whether the ingestion of high concentration multi-strain probiotic formulation would change the antibacterial activity of the feces against clinical strains of MDR microorganisms. The corresponding in vitro antibacterial activity was also investigated. Materials/methods The feces of healthy donors (n = 6) were analyzed before and after a 7-day dietary supplementation with a multi-strain probiotic formulation and tested against MDR microorganisms of clinical concern (carbapenem-resistant (CR), Klebsiella pneumoniae (CR-Kp), CR-Acinetobacter baumannii (CR-Ab), CR-Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CR-Pa), and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)). The tested MDR pathogens were cultured with decreasing concentrations of fecal water obtained before and after the treatment period. Furthermore, to corroborate the results obtained from the feces of healthy donors, the in vitro antibacterial activity of probiotic formulation (both whole probiotic (WP) and probiotic surnatant (PS)) against the same collection of MDR microorganisms was evaluated at different incubation times throughout the minimum bactericidal dilution and the corresponding serial silution number. Results While before probiotic administration, the fecal water samples did not inhibit MDR microorganism growth, after supplementation, a reduced bacterial growth was shown. Accordingly, a noticeable in vitro activity of WP and PS was observed. Conclusions Although preliminary, these experiments demonstrated that a specific multi-strain probiotic formulation exhibits in vitro antibacterial activity against MDR microorganisms of clinical concern. If confirmed, these results may justify the administration of probiotics as a decolonization strategy against MDR microorganisms.With the increasing number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, a huge amount of latency-sensitive and computation-intensive IoT applications have been injected into the network. Deploying mobile edge computing (MEC) servers in cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is a promising candidate, which brings a number of critical IoT applications to the edge network, to reduce the heavy traffic load and the end-to-end latency. The MEC server's deployment mechanism is highly related to the user allocation. Therefore, in this paper, we study hierarchical deployment of MEC servers and user allocation problem. We first formulate the problem as a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model to minimize the deployment cost and average latency. In terms of the MINLP model, we then propose an enumeration algorithm and approximate algorithm based on the improved entropy weight and TOPSIS methods. Drop for ammonium, sufficient for most ambient air monitoring applications.The study aims to explore the personality patterns of a group of transgender individuals who accessed an Italian gender clinic to undergo gender affirming treatments, by evaluating both dimensional personality domains proposed by the Alternative Model of Personality Disorders and categorical DSM-IV personality disorder (PD) diagnoses. Eighty-seven participants (40 transgender women and 47 transgender men) completed the Personality Inventory for DSM-5 and the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV Axis II personality disorders. Scores obtained were compared to those of the normative samples of cisgender women and men. Results indicated that transgender women scored lower than cisgender women on two main domains (Negative Affectivity and Psychoticism) and on seven facets. As for transgender men, lower scores than cisgender men were found on Antagonism and on five facets. Transgender men scored higher than cisgender men on Depressivity. Nearly 50% of participants showed at least one PD diagnosis, with no gender differences in prevalence.
