This study aimed to verify the effects of a multifaceted neurological assessment educational program on neurological assessment-related knowledge, skills, communication ability and self-efficacy in nursing students.

Nurses should be equipped with optimal neurological assessment competency to ensure quality care for patients with neurological symptoms.

This study involved a waitlist control group with a randomized crossover design.

Fourth-year nursing students were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n=28) or a waitlist control group (n=27). Pre- and post-intervention differences in neurological assessment knowledge, skills, communication ability and self-efficacy between the intervention and the waitlist control group were analyzed using generalized estimated equations.

The nursing students in the intervention group showed significantly improved knowledge, skills, communication ability and self-efficacy scores compared with those in the waitlist control group. Scores related to knowledge, skills and communication ability were maintained and self-efficacy scores had further increased at 2 weeks after the educational program in the intervention group.

Our multifaceted neurological assessment educational program is useful for improving nursing students' knowledge, skills, communication ability and self-efficacy.

Healthy China 2030 has proposed to strengthen the investment in midwifery education to prepare more qualified midwives to address the shortage of midwifery workforce in China. The formation of a strong professional identity has been demonstrated to be a vital enabler for successfully transitioning from university to work. As midwifery is a practice-based profession, clinical placement is a key period for midwifery students' professional identity development, where they can be part of the profession and exposed to professional behaviour and interaction in the real world. However, it has not yet been explored in terms of the professional identity development of midwifery students in China during clinical placement.

To gain insight into the professional identity development experiences of midwifery students in China during clinical placement.

A qualitative study using a descriptive phenomenological approach.

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with fourteen final-year midwifery students who were unnal care and address the shortage of midwifery workforce in China.
Based on a critical review of published studies, we aimed to develop a good practice guide for using 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4NQO) as an inducer of oral carcinogenesis in Wistar rats.

A systematic search was performed on Medline Ovid, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Scopus databases. The SYRCLE's risk of bias tool was used to assess the quality of the studies.

Thirty-five articles met the selection criteria; 22 (62.9%) of them administered 4NQO systemically in drinking water, with a mean concentration of 30.2ppm (SD±15.9) and during a mean period of 20.8 (SD±7.8) weeks. The other 13 (37.1%) studies performed topical applications of 4NQO painting the oral mucosa of the animals three times a week (100%) with a mean period of administration of 16.8 (SD±7.0) weeks. Different 4NQO concentrations used for other periods achieved significant tumor development. Most studies didn't perform quantitative clinical analysis, and the histopathological diagnosis/grading criteria varied considerably.

While alcohol use disorder (AUD) is a well-established risk factor for intimate partner aggression (IPA), effective treatments for co-occurring AUD and IPA (AUD/IPA) are lacking. Oxytocin is one promising pharmacological candidate for AUD/IPA given its potential to modulate social behavior and attenuate alcohol use. However, emerging data suggests that oxytocin's prosocial effects are inconsistent, and a small number of studies have also found that oxytocin might have the potential to be aggressogenic. No studies have directly examined the impact of oxytocin on alcohol- or IPA-related outcomes in a dyadic context.

The goal of this double-blind, randomized, and placebo-controlled trial was to examine the effects of a single dose of intranasal oxytocin (40international units) on cue-induced alcohol craving, subjective aggression, laboratory task-based IPA, and cortisol reactivity in a sample of 100 couples (N=200 individuals) with AUD and physical IPA in their current relationship.

There were no statisticrapeutic effects of more intensive oxytocin dosing or administration strategies on alcohol craving and aggression is warranted. This review provides an update on recent developments of RNA- and DNA-based methodologies and their intracellular targets in the context of cystic fibrosis (CF) lung disease. Ultimately, clinical success will require a suitable delivery system, but since the cargo for all these strategies is nucleic acid, it should hopefully be possible to exploit delivery breakthroughs from one study and apply these innovations to other experiments in order to identify the best strategy for everyone with CF. Ultimately, it may be the same approach for everyone, or possibly a number of different strategies tailored to particular mutations or classes/groups of mutations. And whilst the current focus is on CF lung disease, in the longer term the goal is to treat all affected organs in people with CF such as the pancreas, gut, and liver.A nine-year-old male, castrated Pembroke Welsh Corgi presented with a two-month history of lethargy, hyporexia, and occasional vomiting. There was also a two-week history of exercise intolerance; no syncopal episodes were reported. Auscultation revealed bradycardia with an irregular rhythm and otherwise normal heart and lung sounds. Third-degree atrioventricular block was diagnosed. Two-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography revealed a soft tissue structure arising from the atrioventricular junction and interatrial septum. find more There was scant abdominal effusion. Pacemaker implantation was offered, but the owner elected humane euthanasia due to the unknown prognosis. Necropsy was consistent with cardiac hemangiosarcoma infiltrating the interatrial and interventricular septum. In mono- and few-layer 2D materials, the exact number of layers is a critical parameter, determining the materials' properties and thus their performance in future nano-devices. Here, we evaluate in a systematic manner the signature of exfoliated free-standing mono- and few-layer MoS2 and MoTe2 in TEM experiments such as high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron energy-loss spectroscopy, and 3D electron diffraction. A reference for the number of layers has been determined by optical contrast and AFM measurements on a substrate. Comparing the results, we discuss strengths and limitations, benchmarking the three TEM methods with respect to their ability to identify the exact number of layers. With the aim of evaluating the antigerminative activity of plant extracts, a miniaturized assay using 96-well plates (WP assay) was developed and compared to the long-established assay using Petri dishes (PD assay). The WP assay yielded results comparable to those of the PD assay using an ethanolic extract of the Himalayan balsam and lawsone as a standard. It also allowed the needed volume of the test solution to be cut by half and the number of required cress seeds to be cut by more than 1.5. The WP assay was then successfully applied to various extracts of Himalayan balsam, molecules (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D), glyphosate, and 2-methoxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (2-MNQ)) and target seeds (radish, lettuce, and wheat). By being adapted to a 96-well plate format, the antigerminative WP assay is a promising alternative to the PD assay. Besides, its convenience and low resource consumption make it ready for accelerated and high-throughput screening, as well as automation.
There is a widespread international agreement that healthcare should be based on high-quality evidence; however, bridging the gap from evidence to practice is still problematic. Although barriers to the implementation of evidence-based nursing practice have been identified, most studies have focused on clinical nurses' perceptions of the barriers to evidence-based nursing practice, with a lack of investigation into barriers from the hospitals' viewpoint.

To identify existing barriers to implementing evidence-based nursing practice from the hospitals' viewpoint.

A descriptive study employing a regional cross-sectional survey.

A convenience sample of 91 hospitals in Guangdong Province, China.

The survey used an online questionnaire containing basic hospital information and an open-ended question. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse basic hospital data. Responses to the open-ended question were analysed with thematic analysis.

The sample consisted of 89 valid responses to the open-ended questsing practice beliefs, knowledge, and skills. The nitrate and peptide transporter family (NPF) is one of the largest transporter families in the plant kingdom. The name of the family reflects the substrates (nitrate and peptides) identified for the two founding members CHL1 and PTR2 from Arabidopsis thaliana almost 30 years ago. However, since then, the NPF has emerged as a hotspot for transporters with a wide range of crucial roles in plant specialized metabolism. Recent prominent examples include 1) controlling accumulation of antinutritional glucosinolates in Brassica seeds, 2) deposition of heat-stress tolerance flavonol diglucosides to pollen coats 3) production of anti-cancerous monoterpene indole alkaloid precursors in Catharanthus roseus and 4) detoxification of steroid glycoalkaloids in ripening tomatoes. In this review, we turn the spotlight on the emerging role of the NPF in plant specialized metabolism and its potential for improving crop traits through transport engineering.Current methods for embryo selection are limited. This study assessed a novel method for the prediction of embryo developmental potential based on the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by embryo samples. The study included mice embryos monitored during the pre-implantation period. Four developmental stages of the embryos were tested, covering the period from 1 to 4 days after fecundation. In each stage, the VOCs released by the embryos were collected and examined by employing two different volatolomic techniques, gas-chromatography coupled to mass-spectrometry (GC-MS) and a nanoarray of chemical gas sensors. The GC-MS study revealed that the VOC patterns emanating from embryo samples had statistically different values at different stages of embryo development. The sensor nanoarray was capable of classifying the developmental stages of the embryos. The proposed volatolomics analysis approach for embryos presents a promising potential for predicting their developmental stage. In combination with conventional morphokinetic parameters, it could be effective as a predictive model for detecting metabolic shifts that affect embryo quality before preimplantation.
