We report a series of 11 diabetic patients with oculomotor paralysis collected in the department of endocrinology and diabetology of FarhatHached Hospital of Sousse between 1996 and 2005.

Our study was about 6 men and 5 women with an average age of 63.6 ± 13.7 years. All patients had type 2 diabetes. Eight patients presented with diplopia, three with periocular pain and 6 with headache. Spontaneous retinal reattachment is very rare in the natural evolution of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and it is often undervalued.

A retrospective study was conducted reporting five eyes of five patients who presented for acute visual loss in relation with a confirmed rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Surgical care was delayed because of bacterial or viral conjunctivitis. Following this delay, the preoperative examination rapported a spontaneous retinal reattachment. Each patient underwent Laser exclusion of the dehiscence and a regular follow up clinical examination and OCT.

The incidence of spontaneous retinal reattachment is 3.2% among examined and treated rhegmatogenous retinal detachments in our department during this period. The age of our patients ranged between 20 and 67 years. Retinal detachment was subtotal in all cases. Retinal break was unique in four cases and mostly located in the superior retina. Proliferative vitreoretinopathy was low graded in all cases (A and B).

To develop and validate a new method for PTX quantitation in plasma using HPLC with UV/visible detection.

A rapid HPLC-UV method was developed for the determination of PTX level in plasma. All solvents used were HPLC grade.

After liquid-liquid extraction, chromatographic separation was achieved using an RP 18 (250 mm) column. The mobile phase was composed of acetonitrile and 0.1 M potassium dihyrogenophosphate (49/51) (v/v). Clonazepam was used as internal standard. This technique was linear over the range 50 ng/mL to 1500 ng/mL (r= 0.998). The evaluation of precision showed that our method is repeatable with a within-day coefficient of variation (CV) ranging from 6.94 to 18.78 % and reproducible for three studied concentrations low, medium and high with day-to-day CV of 14.92, 10.46 and 11.8% respectively. Under these conditions, each analysis required no longer than 12.81 min.

This is a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted at Razi Hospital La Manouba, Tunisia in clinically stabilized patients with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia followed at our outpatient clinic. Patients gave their opinion on a total of 31 statements related to stigma relevant to the Tunisian cultural context.

The study sample consisted of 105 patients with an average age of 38.3 years and a sex ratio of 1.5. Negative perceptions or experiences prevailed in 19 out of 31 statements, mostly referring to received and endorsed stigma.Study participants expressed apprehension about disclosure of mental illness, mainly due to fears about family reputation and job opportunities, however, a large majority actually disclosed their mental illness to their surroundings. Male participants had less positive opinions than women regarding former mental patients becoming teachers and experienced more stigma than women in the professional field.

Besides actions towards public attitudes, patient-centered-approaches, both tailored to the Tunisian cultural context, are necessary to raise awareness of the public and to reduce endorsed stigma in this vulnerable group of the population.

We conducted a retrospective, descriptive study from the files of professional drivers with visual impairment who consulted the department of occupational health at Charles-Nicolle Hospital of Tunis for medical fitness decision, during the period from January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2016.

Most of them are small, asymptomatic and without risk of malignant degeneration. These benign tumors are usually discovered fortuitously on endoscopy. Sometimes, they may manifest clinically by dysphagia, hematemesis or other signs. They may mimic the esophageal cancer, which is more frequent, or some mediastinal tumors. The diagnosis can be oriented by the barium swallow esophagogram or other imaging methods, yet, only the histological examination gives the confirmation of the diagnosis. We report the case of a 50-year-old man, non-smoker, complaining of dysphagia, epigastric pain and deterioration of general condition. The clinical and radiological presentation mimicked a mediastinal tumor. Surgery was performed, and histological examination concluded to two leiomyomas of the esophagus.
