Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) includes numerous domains to assess functioning among the pediatric population. These domains, however, have not been evaluated for use in children with type 1 diabetes (T1D). The objective of this study was to determine the measurement properties of PROMIS domains (pain behavior, pain quality, physical stress experience, physical activity, strength impact, and profile-25) in children with T1D.

This is a cross-sectional study of children with T1Drecruited from tertiary care facilities. To determine construct validity, we compared PROMIS T-scores between known-groups based on (a) glycemic control, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c%) and (b) self-reported general health, using t test or analysis of variance. Reliability was determined using Cronbach's alpha and item response theory reliability. We also determined agreement between parent-proxy and child self-report PROMIS scores.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is an integrated, team-based approach to optimizing patient outcomes during acute cardiovascular events. Due to the fast-paced, high-stress environment, inherent strengths may impact performance and confidence with ACLS skills. The objective of this study was to assess pharmacist perceptions regarding strengths deemed important during emergency cardiovascular response.

An electronic survey was administered to members of the American College of Clinical Pharmacists Critical Care, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics Practice and Research Network listservs. The survey assessed the top 5 strengths deemed important for being part of an emergency response team, a pharmacist's role in ACLS and a team leader's role in ACLS. The primary outcome was top strengths required for pharmacist involvement in ACLS. Descriptive statistics were used to present survey results.

The hospitality industry employs millions of workers and is a key contributor to the US economy. Despite being essential drivers in the industry's success, hotel workers, particularly hotel housekeepers, are exposed to occupational hazards and experience disproportionate rates of injuries and chronic health conditions. Thus there is a significant need for health promotion efforts directed toward these workers. However, little is known about existing interventions targeting their health.

We conducted a scoping review to identify and appraise workplace health promotion interventions targeting hotel employees. We performed a scoping review following the framework outlined by Arksey and O'Malley (2005). Our literature search process was recorded using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Basic study information was compiled into a matrix table. Study quality was assessed using the template for intervention description and replication.

To describe the pharmacological management of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) by psychiatrists, with a focus on their use of clinical guidelines and the role of prazosin for nightmares.

An online survey of Australian and New Zealand psychiatrists was conducted. Aspects included respondent demographics, familiarity and usage of guidelines for PTSD, and opinions on the safety and efficacy of prazosin for PTSD-associated nightmares.

A total of 157 responses were recorded, 106 of which were complete. The most frequently used guideline for PTSD management was over 10years old and used by only 48% of respondents. Peer-reviewed scientific journals were the most common additional source used by psychiatrists to inform their practice. For the targeted treatment of nightmares, 35 different medications had been trialled by respondents. Prazosin had been prescribed by 86% of psychiatrists for PTSD-associated nightmares, with only 2% reporting it to be ineffective in reducing nightmare frequency and/or intensity. Psychiatrists who were familiar with prazosin-mentioning guidelines (P<.05) and those who more frequently treat patients with PTSD (P<.01) were most likely to have prescribed prazosin.

This study aimed to quantify the health and productivity burden of migraines in Australia, measured by quality-adjusted life years (QALYs), productivity-adjusted life years (PALYs, a novel measure of productivity), and associated health-care and broader economic costs.

A Markov state-transition model was constructed to simulate follow-up of Australians aged 20-64years over the next 10years. The model was first run using current prevalence estimates of migraine. It was then rerun assuming that people with migraine hypothetically did not have the condition. Differences in outcomes between the 2 model simulations represented the health and productivity burden attributable to migraine. All data inputs were obtained from published sources. Gross domestic product (GDP) per equivalent full-time worker in Australia was used to reflect the cost of each PALY (AU$177,092). Future costs and outcomes were discounted by 5% annually.

Currently, 1,274,319million (8.5%) Australians aged 20-64years have migraine. Over the next 10years, migraine was predicted to lead to a loss of 2,577,783 (95% confidence interval [CI] 2,054,980 to 3,000,784) QALYs among this cohort (2.02 per person and 2.43% of total QALYs), and AU$1.67 (95% CI $1.16 to $2.37) billion in health-care costs (AU$1313 per person, 95% CI $914 to $1862). There would also be 384,740 (95% CI 299,102 to 479,803) PALYs lost (0.30 per person and 0.53% of total PALYs), resulting in AU$68.13 (95% CI $44.42 to $98.25) billion of lost GDP (AU$53,467 per person, 95% CI $34,855 to $77,102).

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) increases the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) due to obesity, hypotonia, and abnormal ventilatory responses. We evaluated post-adenotonsillectomy complications, polysomnography changes, and quality of life in children with OSA and PWS.

Systematic review and meta-analysis.

We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis by searching PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Web of Science, and Scopus. Two researchers independently reviewed studies about adenotonsillectomy for OSA in patients <21 years with PWS. We extracted study design, patient numbers, age, complications, polysomnography, and quality of life. We pooled postoperative changes in apnea hypopnea index (AHI) for meta-analysis. We applied Methodological Index for Nonrandomized Studies (MINORS) criteria to assess study quality.

The initial search yielded 169 studies. We included 68 patients from eight studies with moderate to high risk of bias. Six studies reported on complications and 12 of 51 patients (24%) had at velopharyngeal insufficiency. Despite improvements in polysomnography and quality of life, many patients had residual OSA. A H2 evolution rate of ca. 3.12 mmol g-1 ⋅h-1 and an apparent quantum efficiency (AQE) of ca. 1.63 % at 400 nm were achieved over the BENI-COO- -NH3+ -Ni MIS photosystem prepared by electrostatic self-assembly of BENI-COO- with the opposite-charged DuBois-Ni catalysts. The hot electrons of photoexcited BENI-COO- nanofibers were tunneled to the molecular Ni collectors across a salt bridge and an alkyl region of 2.2-2.5 nm length at a rate of 6.10×108  s-1 , which is five times larger than the BENI-NH3+ nanoribbons (1.17×108  s-1 ). The electric field benefited significantly the electron tunneling dynamics and compensated the charge-separated states insufficient in the BENI-COO- nanofibers.
The age-adjusted incidence of cutaneous melanoma (CM) in the Nordic countries has increased during the last 60years. Few prospective population-based studies have estimated the occupational variation in CM risk over time.

A historical prospective cohort study with a 45-year follow-up from 1961 to 2005 (Nordic Occupational Cancer Study, NOCCA) based on record linkages between census and cancer registry data for Nordic residents aged 30-64years in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. National occupational codes were converted to 53 occupational categories, and stratified into indoor, outdoor and mixed work, and into socioeconomic status. The standardized incidence ratios (SIRs) were estimated as observed number of CM cases divided by the expected number calculated from stratum-specific person-years and national CM incidence rates.

During a follow-up of 385 million person-years, 83898 incident cases of CM were identified. In all countries combined, men with outdoor work had a low SIR of 0·79 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0·77-0·81] and men with indoor work had a high SIR of 1·09 (95% CI 1·07-1·11).
