To investigate the effect of the care bundle in the nursing care of the type A aortic dissection (TAAD).

A total of 161 patients with TAAD were included in the study. They were divided into control group (n=79) and care bundle group (n=82). The patients in the control group received routine nursing, while the patients in the care bundle group received routine nursing and care bundle. IL-2, IL-6 and IL-10 levels in the three periods of T0 (before anesthesia), T1 (before anesthesia to 6 h after surgery) and T2 (6-24 h after surgery), intraoperative blood loss, postoperative recovery, ICU stay time, intraoperative pressure ulcer rate, postoperative delirium rate, bloodstream infection rate and doctor satisfaction.

The postoperative T and pH levels in two groups were all in the normal range. The levels of IL-2, IL-6 and IL-10 in the care bundle group at different periods were also significantly different. The levels of IL-2 and IL-10 showed an increased trend, while that of IL-6 showed a downward trend. Thes the kind of the nursing model that can better meet the requirements of the intraoperative nursing quality. The intervention methods in this study include 5 core nursing measures. These measures are implemented together in a synergistic manner to effectively improve the quality of nursing care in operating room and the health outcomes of patients with TAAD. Care bundle is worthy of clinical application.
Post-operative delirium (POD) is a common complication after aortic surgery with poor outcomes. Blood pressure may play a role in the occurrence of POD. The study aimed to identify whether admission systolic blood pressure (SBP) level in the intensive care unit (ICU) is correlated with POD in acute Stanford type A aortic dissection (AAAD) patients undergoing aortic surgery.

We conducted a single-center retrospective cohort study enrolling consecutive 205 patients with acute type A aortic dissection undergoing aortic surgery. Nimodipine Calcium Channel inhibitor Patients were divided into 3 groups low, normal, and high SBP level group. Outcomes of interest were POD, 30-day mortality and other complications including acute kidney injury, cardiac complications, spinal cord ischemia, stroke, and pneumonia. Confusion Assessment Method for Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) method was used to assess POD. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression, Cox regression, and subgroup analysis were performed to uncover the association between SBP and POD.

The mean age of these patients was 51±16 years old. Thirty-six patients (17.6%) developed POD. Patients with high admission SBP were more likely to develop POD (P < 0.01). Univariate analysis showed that high admission SBP was associated with a higher risk of POD among AAAD patients (OR, 3.514; 95% CI, 1.478-8.537, P < 0.01). Multivariate logistic regression model confirmed that high SBP was an independent predictor of POD. Subgroup analysis indicated that patients with anemia and high admission SBP were at higher risk of POD.

High admission SBP was positively associated with the incidence of POD in AAAD patients who underwent surgical repair in ICU.

Ischemic cardiomyopathy (ICM) is considered to be the most common cause of heart failure, with high prevalence and mortality. This study aimed to investigate the different expressed genes (DEGs) and pathways in the pathogenesis of ICM using bioinformatics analysis.

The control and ICM datasets GSE116250, GSE46224 and GSE5406 were collected from the gene expression omnibus (GEO) database. DEGs were identified using limma package of R software, and co-expressed genes were identified using Venn diagrams. Then, the gene ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were performed to explore the biological functions and signaling pathways. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks were assembled with Cytoscape software to identify hub genes related to the pathogenesis of ICM. RT-PCR of Heart tissues (n=2 for non-failing controls and n=4 for ischemic cardiomyopathy patients) was used to validate the bioinformatic results.

A total of 844 DEGs were screened from Gsis.

These findings from this bioinformatics network analysis investigated key hub genes, which contributed to better understanding the mechanism and new therapeutic targets of ICM.

This study assessed the prognostic value of red blood cell distribution width (RDW) and cancer antigen 125 (CA125) in predicting the prognosis of endometrial cancer (EC) patients.

In this study, we included 525 patients with EC between January 2013 and January 2019. Demographic and clinical indicators were collected, and the receiver operating characteristics curve (ROC) and cutoff values were calculated between the early and advanced stages of EC. Independent risk factors associated with EC prognosis were assessed using Cox regression analyses and the Kaplan-Meier method.

Compared to women in the early stage of EC, women with advanced stage had significantly elevated RDW coefficient of variation (RDW-CV) and CA125 levels and lower mean corpuscular volume (MCV) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) (both P < 0.05). Consequently, RDW-CV and CA125 were found to be independent risk factors for EC by using ROC curve and multivariate logistic regression analysis. The survival analysis curve was used to assess the diagnostic value of RDW-CV, CA125, and their combination in the prognosis of EC. The results showed that patients with high expression of RDW-CV and CA125 had worse overall survival than those with low expression. Moreover, multivariate Cox regression analysis indicated that RDW-CV+CA125=2 was an independent prognostic factor.

These findings suggest that CA125 combined with RDW-CV has a good prognostic value for EC. Thus, the RDW-CV+CA125 score is a promising prognostic marker for the clinical decision-making process regarding EC outcomes.

Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) ranks the sixth most common cancer worldwide. This study aims to evaluate the associations of GWAS-identified HNSCC risk loci with progression, efficacy and toxicity of radiotherapy of HNSCC treated with radiotherapy.

Six GWAS-identified risk loci were genotyped and evaluated. Multivariate logistic regression was used to determine the associations of these SNPs with progression, efficacy and toxicity of radiotherapy of HNSCC treated with radiotherapy.

We found that rs259919 was significantly associated with higher TNM stage (allele A vs G OR=1.49; 95% CI 1.09-2.03; P=0.012), while rs3135001 was significantly associated with better efficacy of radiotherapy (allele T vs C OR=1.80, 95% CIs=1.19-2.73, P=0.005). Both SNP rs1265081 (allele A vs C OR=1.41, 95% CIs=1.08-1.86, P=0.012) and rs3135001 (allele T vs allele C OR=0.53, 95% CIs=0.35-0.79, P=0.002) were significantly associated with the occurrence of grade 3-4 oral mucositis.

We identified that three GWAS-identified HNSCC risk loci were significantly associated with progression, efficacy and toxicity of radiotherapy of HNSCC. Our findings strengthen the understanding of the essential role of genetic background in the progression and therapeutic effects of HNSCC.

The condition occurs predominantly in critically ill patients with hypoalbuminemia, those with increased body mass index, and those with evidence of fluid overload. AIE was introduced in 2019; however, its histopathological picture has never been elucidated in the literature. We report a case of AIE in a 64-year-old Thai woman with several comorbidities and illustrate its histopathological and immunohistochemical features for the first time. Treatment with diuretics, fluid restriction, and adjuvant hemodialysis revealed marked improvement after ten days. Our report emphasizes that AIE is a distinct dermatosis with specific characteristics that help differentiate AIE from cellulitis and other pseudocellulitic conditions. Furthermore, our observations support the role of lymphatic alterations in the pathogenesis of the disease.
Glaucoma is a group of retinal neurodegenerative diseases causing irreversible visual impairment. The pathogenesis of this disease is complicated. Studies have shown that the immune system is involved in the neurodegenerative process of glaucoma. There are continuous evidences that autoantibodies play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of glaucoma. However, focuses on B cells, the antibody-producing cells in glaucoma are surprisingly limited.

Fresh peripheral blood samples were collected from 44 glaucoma patients (38 with primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) and 6 with (primary open-angle glaucoma POAG)) and 36 age-matched healthy donors (HD). Density gradient centrifugation was performed to obtain peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC). Flow cytometry was performed to determine B cell phenotypes. The severity of glaucoma was determined based on the mean deviation (MD) of visual field.

In this study, we demonstrated that total B cells was significantly increased in glaucoma patients compared to HD. bsets could serve as potential biomarkers to monitor the disease progression of glaucoma patients.
Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (II/R) injury is a common clinical complication associated with high mortality, for which microRNA (miRNA) drives potentially its pathophysiological progression. MiRNAs regulate different messenger RNAs (mRNAs). However, the regulatory network between miRNAs and mRNAs in intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury is elusive.

We analyzed the different expression of mRNAs and miRNAs in intestinal tissues from patients from three groups (arterial group (group A), venous group (group V), control group (group C)). Common differentially expressed (Co-DE) miRNAs and differentially expressed mRNAs were acquired via concerned analyses among the three groups. Co-DE mRNAs were shared parts of target mRNAs and differentially expression mRNAs. Cytoscape was employed to construct the regulatory network between miRNAs and mRNAs. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis and the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway depicted the functions and potential pathway associated with Co-DE mRNAs. Using the STRING and Cytoscape, we found critical mRNAs in the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network.
