Patients undergoing cancer treatment experience global stress and cancer-specific stress. Both types of stress are associated with a higher symptom burden.

In this cross-sectional study, we used a comprehensive set of demographic, clinical, and symptom characteristics to evaluate their relative contribution to the severity of global and cancer-specific stress.

Consistent with our a priori hypothesis, we found both common and distinct characteristics associated with higher levels of global stress and cancer-specific stress. A significant proportion of our patients had scores on the Impact of Event Scale-Revised suggestive of subsyndromal (29.4%) or probable (13.9%) posttraumatic stress disorder. Four of the 5 stepwise linear regression analyses for the various stress scales explained between 41.6% and 54.5% of the total variance. Compared with various demographic and clinical characteristics, many of the common symptoms associated with cancer and its treatments uniquely explained a higher percentage of the variance in the various stress scales. Symptoms of depression made the largest unique contribution to the percentage of total explained variance across all 5 scales.

Clinicians need to assess for global stress, cancer-specific stress, and depression in patients receiving chemotherapy.

Patients may benefit from integrative interventions (eg, mindfulness-based stress reduction, cognitive behavioral therapy, acupuncture) that simultaneously address stress and symptoms commonly associated with cancer and its treatments.

During global health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, rapid spread of misinformation on social media has occurred. The misinformation associated with COVID-19 has been analyzed, but little attention has been paid to developing a comprehensive analytical framework to study its spread on social media.

We propose an elaboration likelihood model-based theoretical model to understand the persuasion process of COVID-19-related misinformation on social media.

The proposed model incorporates the central route feature (content feature) and peripheral features (including creator authority, social proof, and emotion). The central-level COVID-19-related misinformation feature includes five topics medical information, social issues and people's livelihoods, government response, epidemic spread, and international issues. First, we created a data set of COVID-19 pandemic-related misinformation based on fact-checking sources and a data set of posts that contained this misinformation on real-world social media. Based on the collected posts, we analyzed the dissemination patterns.

Our data set included 11,450 misinformation posts, with medical misinformation as the largest category (n=5359, 46.80%). Moreover, the results suggest that both the least (4660/11,301, 41.24%) and most (2320/11,301, 20.53%) active users are prone to sharing misinformation. Further, posts related to international topics that have the greatest chance of producing a profound and lasting impact on social media exhibited the highest distribution depth (maximum depth=14) and width (maximum width=2355). Additionally, 97.00% (2364/2437) of the spread was characterized by radiation dissemination.

Notably, the severe Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has exacerbated the shortage of medical oxygen in the world. Hence, a safe, economical, and portable oxygen supply device is urgently needed. Here, we have successfully prepared a device with air-breathing electrochemical extraction of pure oxygen (ABEEPO) with light weight and high energy efficiency. By renovating the structure of the electrolytic cell, the components bipolar plate and end plate are replaced with a plastic membrane, and the component current collector is replaced with a highly conductive graphene composite membrane electrode. Due to the use of the plastic membrane and graphene composite membrane electrode, the weight of the electrolytic cell is reduced from 1319.4 to 1.6 g, and the flexibility of the electrolytic cell is successfully realized. Through optimizing anode catalysts, working area, and operating voltage, a high flow rate per mass (234 mL h-1 g-1) was achieved at a voltage of 1.2 V. The device exhibits high stability in 2 h. The new portable oxygen production device would be effective for hypoxia treatment.
Effective interventions aimed at correcting COVID-19 vaccine misinformation, known as fact-checking messages, are needed to combat the mounting antivaccine infodemic and alleviate vaccine hesitancy.

This work investigates (1) the changes in the public's attitude toward COVID-19 vaccines over time, (2) the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccine fact-checking information on social media engagement and attitude change, and (3) the emotional and linguistic features of the COVID-19 vaccine fact-checking information ecosystem.

We collected a data set of 12,553 COVID-19 vaccine fact-checking Facebook posts and their associated comments (N=122,362) from January 2020 to March 2022 and conducted a series of natural language processing and statistical analyses to investigate trends in public attitude toward the vaccine in COVID-19 vaccine fact-checking posts and comments, and emotional and linguistic features of the COVID-19 fact-checking information ecosystem.

The percentage of fact-checking posts relative to all COmic progressed, third-party fact checkers played a larger role in posting fact-checking COVID-19 vaccine posts. COVID-19 vaccine fact-checking posts continued to be more analytical and more confident over time, reflecting increased confidence in posts. Similarly, tentativeness in comments decreased; this likewise suggests that public uncertainty diminished over time. COVID-19 fact-checking vaccine posts from hospitals yielded more positive attitudes toward vaccination than other information sources. At the same time, hospitals received less engagement than other information sources. This suggests that hospitals should invest more in generating engaging public health campaigns on social media.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals with a positive viral test were enrolled in a study, within 48 hours, to remotely monitor their vital signs to characterize disease progression and recovery. A virtual trial design was adopted to reduce risks to participants and the research community in a study titled Risk Stratification and Early Alerting Regarding COVID-19 Hospitalization (RiskSEARCH). In this article, the authors provide an overview of the development and implementation of the approach to programmatic assessment in postgraduate family medicine training programs in Canada, called Continuous Reflective Assessment for Training (CRAFT). CRAFT is a principles-guided, high-level approach to work-place based assessment that was intentionally designed to be adaptable to local contexts, including size of program, resources available, and structural enablers and barriers. check details CRAFT has been implemented in all 17 Canadian family medicine residency programs, with each program taking advantage of the high-level nature of the CRAFT guidelines to create bespoke assessment processes and tools appropriate for their local contexts. The impact of surface polarity on molecular assembly is discussed in detail. To the best of our knowledge, this work represents the first of its kind. Our results reveal that solvent evaporation gives rise to the formation of well-defined stacks of lipid bilayers in a smectic alignment. These smectic mesophases form on both polar and nonpolar surfaces but with a notable distinction. On polar surfaces, the director of the stack is oriented perpendicular to the support surface. By contrast, the stacks orient at an angle on the nonpolar surfaces. The packing of head groups on surfaces and lipid molecular mobility exhibits significant differences as surface polarity changes. The role of glycerol in the assembly and stability is also revealed. The insights revealed from the simulation have a significant impact on additive manufacturing, biomaterials, model membranes, and engineering protocells. For example, POPC assemblies via evaporation of ultrasmall droplets were produced and characterized. The trends compare well with the bilayer stack models. The surface polarity influences the local morphology and structures at the interfaces, which could be rationalized via the molecule-surface interactions observed from simulations.
