Lycopene, a safe and effective phytochemical, has been documented to have anticancer activity in a variety of tumors, especially for prostate cancer (PCa). The aim of this study was to provide data support for the combination of lycopene and enzalutamide in the treatment of CRPC. To this end, tissues from patients with primary prostate cancer (PPC) and CRPC were examined by immunohistochemical analysis and found that p-AKT and p-EZH2 were overexpressed in CRPC. Furthermore, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the high expression of p-AKT and p-EZH2 may be related to the poor prognosis of patients. In addition, the expression of p-AKT, p-EZH2 and androgen receptor (AR) were significantly down-regulated in 22RV1 and C4-2B cells and the proliferation and invasion of CRPC cells were inhibited after treatment with lycopene, while SC79 (an AKT agonist) markedly rescue this effect. Of note, a combination of lycopene and enzalutamide significantly inhibited the proliferation and invasion of CRPC cells in vitro, as well as tumor growth and bone metastasis in vivo. These results suggest that the enhanced antitumor effects of enzalutamide by lycopene may be related to the reduction of AR protein levels through lycopene-mediated inhibition of AKT/EZH2 pathway, which may provide a new approach to improve the efficacy of enzalutamide in CRPC.
Health-related quality of life is expressed in utilities, also referred to as utility estimates or parameters. Considerations about the source and type of utility values are especially important in a modeling context, where the lack of transparency, including the lack of a hierarchy for utility data sources, is a major issue to any estimation and can potentially compromise model reliability.

This document aims to present the first version of the Brazilian guidelines for utility measurement to support economic analysis.

A virtual workshop and a modified Delphi panel with 10 health technology specialists followed a rapid evaluation of 110 technical documents and indexed publications. The recommendations are based on the proposition that has received the most votes, although contentious issues are addressed in the suggestion or discussion. The rationale for the final decision is included in the text.

The consensus includes 50 recommendations with the following topics Transparency and Reliability, Model Design, Conditions Under Which Generic Questionnaires Are Not Sensible or Valid, Utility Evidence Hierarchy, Utility Data Searching, Modeling Utility Values, Extrapolating Quality Adjusted Life-Years for Models With Lifetime Horizons, Caregiver Utility, Utility Data Synthesis, Quality/Certainty of the Evidence, and Utility Estimates in End-of-Life Conditions.

The goal of this project is to create unified national standards for using utility metrics in economic analysis in Brazil. This set of recommendations is not obligatory, but it is meant to serve as a guide and lead to the development of better and more transparent economic models in the country.

The International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF) provides a coherent biopsychosocial view of health states. The ICF Core Sets were developed to facilitate and encourage the use of the ICF in clinical practice and research.

To examine the level of knowledge and use of the ICF and ICF Core Sets for musculoskeletal conditions among Saudi physical therapists.

Cross-sectional study.

We approached Saudi physical therapists (PTs) involved in managing patients with musculoskeletal conditions. Data were collected through an electronic survey consisting of multiple-choice questions related to the knowledge of the ICF, general ICF Core Sets and ICF Core Sets for musculoskeletal conditions.

A total of 203PTs participated in this study. Seventy percent of PTs knew about the meaning of ICF, but only 33% recognized aspects of the ICF. For the osteoarthritis (OA) ICF Core Set, 71.9% had poor knowledge, and for the low back pain (LBP) ICF Core Set, 61.8% had poor knowledge.

The Saudi PTs surveyed in this study had a good level of knowledge about the meaning of the ICF; however, this knowledge appeared to be limited when they were asked about aspects of the ICF. They had poor knowledge of musculoskeletal ICF Core Sets but seemed to be more familiar with the LBP ICF Core Set compared to the OA ICF Core Set.

A cross-sectional inter-examiner agreement and reliability study on fresh frozen cadaver shoulders.

Musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSU) is frequently used by physical therapists and radiologists to improve specific diagnosis in rotator cuff related pathology. The evaluation of the rotator cable seems to be important as stabilizing structure when cuff tears occur.

To evaluate the inter-examiner agreement and reliability of MSU of the shoulder to detect rotator cuff-pathology and the involvement of the rotator cable in comparison to "dissection".

Physical therapists, a radiologist and an orthopedic surgeon (dissection) investigated 40 fresh frozen cadaver shoulders in order to detect shoulder pathology including rotator cable involvement. Examiners were blinded to each other's findings.

We found a strong and significant agreement between the raters PTs, the radiologist and the dissector in this cadaver study for all rotator cuff, the long head of the biceps pathologies and in detecting abnormalities of the rotator cable. The kappa value was substantial to (almost) perfect agreement for all diagnostic outcome categories.

This study shows that among a limited group of physical therapists, one radiologist and a dissector a strong level of agreement with kappa values from substantial to (almost) perfect in finding subacromial pathology.

In this article, by taking Chinese total volume control of SO2 emissions in Eleventh Five-Year Plan as a quasi-natural experiment, we are able to identify the influence of environmental regulation on the labor demand of manufacturing enterprises. The findings show that the labor demand of pollution-intensive enterprises has fallen significantly as a result of environmental regulation, which means that the higher the intensity of environmental control, the less the labor demand. This indicates that China has a long way to go to achieve a win-win of emission reduction and full employment through the total volume control of pollutants. Interestingly, environmental regulation plays a significant negative role in corporate salaries, but a significant positive impact on per capita salaries. This may imply that although environmental regulation crowds out the labor demand to a certain degree, those affected are mainly low-skilled workers. Mechanism analysis reveals that the total volume control of pollutant has both job creation and job destruction effects on enterprises. Job creation is caused by technological innovation. As for job destruction, it comes from the reduction of production scale and the substitution of capital for manpower.Biochar and plant cooperation in remediation of heavy metal contaminated soil is effective and important, but there still have knowledge gaps of synergistic effect between the two and the synergistic pathway has not been clarified. We prepared the Enteromorpha prolifera biochar at 400 °C and 600 °C (denoted as BC400 and BC600). The Pb fractions changes in soil and Pb toxicity in Brassica juncea were investigated by adding 30 g kg-1 biochar to soil containing 1200 mg kg-1 Pb in a pot experiment. There was a significant synergistic effect between biochar and plants on Pb immobilization in soil, according to the "E > 0" of Pb fractions in the interaction equation. Pb immobilization rates of biochar-plant treatments (BJBC4 and BJBC6) were 12.47% and 11.38% higher than biochar treatment (BC4, BC6), and 17.66% and 16.28% plant treatment (BJ). BJBC4 had a better immobilization effect than BJBC6. Biochar alleviated the phytotoxicity of Pb by increasing the antioxidant enzymes activities of plants. read more These results indicated two synergistic pathways (1) The high pH and oxygen-containing functional groups of biochar could immobilize Pb through ion exchange, precipitation, or complexation. (2) Biochar enhanced the activity of the antioxidant enzyme system in plants thus improving the Pb tolerance of plants. Statistical analysis methods such as the partial least squares path modeling (PLS-PM) also confirmed the pathways. In a word, clear synergistic effects and pathways could guide the application of biochar and plants in Pb-contaminated soil.In this editorial piece, the Editors of the Virtual Special Issue (VSI) "New Trends on Green Energy and Environmental Technologies, with Special Focus on Biomass Valorization, Water and Waste Recycling", present summarized data corresponding to the accepted submissions, as well as additional comments regarding the thematic of the VSI. Overall, 83 manuscripts were received, with final publication of those having the highest quality, accepted after peer-reviewing. The Editors think that the result is a set of very interesting papers that increase the knowledge on the matter, and which would be useful for researchers and the whole society.Although cultural ecosystem services (CES) are greatly valued by diverse stakeholders, the full range of CES provided by a landscape is notoriously difficult to estimate. The resulting lack of objective norms for CES may lead to the loss of the multiple non-material factors that contribute to how a landscape is valued and experienced. This is especially true under ecological restoration, which could sharply change how people experience landscapes. Therefore, our aim in this study was to identify and analyze the CES that arise from people's interaction with their landscape, focusing specifically on the influences of different ecological restoration strategies. We carried out semi-structured interviews with the residents of villages in the Xilin Gol League, Inner Mongolia, China. Regarding the implementation of ecological restoration measures, the people living in typical pastoral zones would be most affected by these measures because their main livelihood (animal husbandry) depends strongly on grasslands. Our results demonstrated that human perception of the CES provided by landscapes is affected not only by the factors related to an individual's cultural worldview (e.
