7% for the stepwise method and 95.4% for all measurements taken together. The established prototypes delivered effective and consistent sex estimates with high precision rates and low prediction errors. The objective of the study was to assess the outcome of carbohydrate loading dietary strategy on resistance exercise and muscle mass. In this prospective study, conducted at Dr DY Patil Gym and Fitness Center, Navi Mumbai (India), young healthy male resistance-trained individuals (18-25 years) were recruited randomly. The duration for entire study was three months in the year 2019. Participants were divided into two groups (n=30 each) carbohydrate loading group and control group. Participants in the carbohydrate loading group consumed carbohydrate loading diet protocol and designed exercise program for seven days. The control group consumed a regular diet with an exercise program. Resistance exercise (strength) and body circumference (muscle mass) measurements were recorded after seven days of respective assigned diet and exercise program. In the carbohydrate loading group, performance in resistance exercise was not significant from baseline to day seven (63.5±6.45 vs. 64.0±6.75 kg; p>0.05). Changes in the arm girth (p=0.3256), thigh girth (p=0.3256) and calf girth (p=0.1608) were also not significant in the carbohydrate loading group when compared from baseline to seven days. Therefore, the result indicates that the carbohydrate loading regimen had no enhanced effect on resistance exercise as well as muscle girth. This study results suggest that carbohydrate loading has no additional advantage in improving resistance exercise and muscle mass in resistance-trained individuals.Keloids always remain a great challenge due to limited surgical treatment options. Most treatments e.g. surgery, drug therapy, radiotherapy, laser therapy, and cryotherapy for managing keloids have very limited effectiveness, for keloids grow slowly but progressively and the recurrence rate is inappreciably high. Skin expansion constitutes a potential treatment option in the treatment of large keloid. This study was intended to determine the clinical outcome of 'Tissue Expander beneath the Keloid Surgery' for repair of wound formed as a result of excision of relatively large keloids. This retrospective study was done in the Department of Dermatology and Venereology of Nantong University-affiliated Hospital, China. Using a quasi-experimental design, from August 2006 to August 2017, 75 keloids in 70 patients were implanted with tissue expanders, the capacity of which was 70-600ml. After 50-126 days of implantation, the intralesional excision with flap advancement surgery was carried out. During intraoperative p in the 14 sites of pubic region. The total POSAS scores before surgery were 59.3±13.6 which significantly reduced to 17.7±9.1 after 12 months of surgery (p less then 0.001). Soft tissue expanders implantation beneath the keloid is one of the ideal methods to treat relatively large keloids, formed as a result of excision of relatively large keloids, provided the patients are carefully selected based on knowledge about possible complications.Healthcare professionals are the crucial and influencing source of information for vaccines and their communication among patients and communities that can accelerate successful vaccination in a country. This cross-sectional study was one of the first and foremost ones in Bangladesh to observe the basic perception and attitudes towards vaccination against COVID-19 among the healthcare workers (HCWs) - doctors, interns, nurses, ward boys, cleaners, and medical technologists of major COVID-dedicated hospitals. The cross-sectional questionnaire-based study was conducted in February 2021 among 550 HCWs to assess the perception and attitude towards vaccination against COVID-19. The study participants were targeted as the priority group for COVID-19 vaccination, working in two major COVID-dedicated hospitals, Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital (HF-center), and Sheikh Russel National Gastro-liver Institute and Hospital (SR-center) in Dhaka, Bangladesh during the pandemic. The questionnaire was structution as safe and effective. Again 29.77% HCWs think the vaccine might not be safe or effective due to emergency authorization. Only 38.93% of respondents could respond correctly about the necessity of vaccines for children, 31.10% think the vaccination was not required instead of natural immunity. The positive perception and attitude of the frontline HCWs in COVID-dedicated hospitals in Bangladesh are crucial which will positively influence motivation and wide acceptance among the general population for the attainment of the nationwide vaccination program, and adopt effective strategic modification to minimize the gaps for a low-middle income country like Bangladesh with its resource constrain.Clinical skill lab (CSL) is a part of simulation-based medical education (SBME) which now a days becomes an integral part of modern medical education. This cross-sectional analytic study was performed at Sylhet Women's Medical College, Sylhet, Bangladesh to assess the difference between CSL and traditional multimedia (MM) presentation in case of endotracheal intubation from January 2021 to February 2021. Total 78 first year nursing students were enrolled in study. Both groups were tested by same pre-tested multiple-choice questions. These 10 questions were set according to modified bloom's taxonomy domains. There was no significant difference in the mean scores of both groups. Male of CSL group had scored significantly better than the female of the same group. The top and bottom domains of modified bloom's taxonomy were significantly better taught in CSL group, whereas the others were better in the multimedia group. This study was aimed to find out the socio-demographic profiles as well as difficulties of Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing faced by Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. This cross-sectional study was conducted from 10th August to 7th September 2020. Data were collected by telephone interview using a pre-designed questionnaire after taking verbal consent from the participants. Out of 281 COVID-19 patients, 279 were diagnosed by RT-PCR; 10.3% were asymptomatic. Off them 67.6%were males, 24% were hospital staffs. Majority (66.2%) were from the non-city corporation area. History of recent contact with known COVID-19 patients was present in 56.9% cases. Fever (78.3%) and cough (58%) were the most common symptoms. One third of the patients faced difficulty to test RT-PCR for COVID-19. Sixteen percent patients complained of difficulty of getting serial for testing, the maximum waiting time was one week before giving samples. Thirty patients (10.8%) had to wait longer than usual time after reaching the center before giving sample. Hospital staffs were unable to co-operate in 2.5% of the patients while difficulty of managing transport to the hospital for suspected COVID-19 patient was an issue in 2.2% of the patients. Though testing was more difficult in city corporation areas (p=0.028), delay of getting test result was less (p less then 0.001). Maximum delay of getting test result was 10 days. Finding out the difficulties of COVID-19 testing will help to point out the issues behind these and will help to take necessary steps to tackle this matter. Testing rate can be increased to contain this highly contagious virus in this densely populated country.Curriculum is the road map of any course and an instrument for developing the competencies of the human resources. The MBBS curriculum in our country was last updated in 2012 during the period of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Since then it has been under implementation in different government, non-government and Army medical colleges in association with different universities. "Health Professional for a New Century" now asks for a transformation of the education to strengthen the health systems for meeting the challenges of the 21st century. Curriculum reform is an important issue in transformative education and need assessment is the first and essential task to review and update any curriculum. The objective of the study was to assess the need to review and update the MBBS curriculum 2012 of Bangladesh. Veliparib Review and updating of MBBS curriculum was organized by Centre for Medical Education (CME) and supported by World Health Organization (WHO). CME, DGHS, Dean offices, MOH&FW, BM&DC and all the governmend phase are Community Medicine - 69.8%, Microbiology - 62.8%. Most of the participants are in favour of the present curriculum components, grading system for assessment but not the carry-on system in Phase I. The study recommended for national level consultations involving the concerned persons for finalization of the MBBS curriculum.LASER Haemorrhoidoplasty (LH) is a novel procedure in modern medical science. It is a no cut, painless and bloodless clinical procedure with comparatively fewer complications in comparison to Stapler Haemorrhoidopexy (SH) for the treatment of grade III-IV haemorrhoids. It is very applicable surgical procedure at shrinking the terminal branches of haemorrhiodal arteries with fewer complications than Stapler Haemorrhoidopexy (SH). The aim of the study was to compare LASER Haemorrhoidoplasty (LH) with Stapler Haemorrhoidopexy (SH). The comparative study was performed in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Anower Khan Modern Medical College and Hospital and Care Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh from August 2019 to July 2020. A total of 84 patients with grade III-IV haemorrhoids were allocated into two groups LASER Haemorrhoidoplasty (LH) and Stapler Haemorrhoidopexy (SH) with 42 patients in each group prospectively. Comparative results and post-operative follow up periods were 4 mo-IV haemorrhoids. The huge numbers of non-healthcare personnel (non-HCP) who get infected by corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) not only paralyze health care systems but also put health care personnel (HCP) at potential risk globally. Objective of the study was to compare the Healthcare personnel (HCP) and non-HCP COVID-19 cases. This prospective observational study was carried out in National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute of Bangladesh from March 08, 2020 to July 20, 2020. During this study period all admitted non-HCP who subsequently was diagnosed as COVID-19 positive by rRT-PCR and HCP of this hospital, who experienced fever or respiratory symptoms or came in close contact with COVID-19 patients at home or their workplace and become COVID-19 positive, were included. Out of 320 infected patients, 181(56.6%) patients were non-HCP and 139(43.4%) were HCP. Non-HCP were older than HCP (Mean age 52.95±13.82 years vs. 34.08±11.11 years; p=0.001). Non-HCP were predominantly male and HCP were predominantly female (73.5% vs. 41% & 26.5% vs. 59%; p=0.001). Non-HCP had more risk factors and co-morbidities than HCP (p=0.001). Typical symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever and cough were prevalent in HCP. More aggressive treatment was required for non-HCP. Non-HCP had more severe disease and higher case fatality rate (9.4% vs. 0.7%; p=0.001) than HCP. Disease severity (OR 0.03, 95% CI 0.01-0.15) and DM (OR 0.09, 95% CI 0.01-0.94) were the independent predictor of mortality. Non-HCP was older in age, predominantly male and had more co-morbidities than HCP. Typical symptoms of COVID-19 were prevalent in HCP. Non-HCP had more severe disease and higher case fatality rate than HCP.
