METHODS A multicenter retrospective cohort study was designed. The duration of DKA was measured from the start of the treatment. The primary outcome was the comparison of the time needed in each group to reach HCO 3 -  ≥ 15 mmol/L. The secondary outcomes were the comparison of the time to reach pH ≥ 7.3 and length of hospital stay in each group. Data were analyzed with a bivariate analysis of the variables vs primary outcome. RNA Synthesis inhibitor Then, a regression model was analyzed. Results There were 305 episodes included (NT1D 115, PT1D 190). DKA in the NT1D group lasted longer (NT1D 20 (16-19) vs PT1D 12 (8-16), hours, P  less then  .01) with a significant difference in each level of DKA severity. This group also took longer to reach pH ≥ 7.3 (NT1D 16 (12-22) vs PT1D 9 (6-12), hours, P  less then  .01) and had a longer hospital stay (NT1D 9 (6-12) vs PT1D 7 (4-10), hours, P  less then  .01). CONCLUSION The duration of DKA is longer in patients with NT1D regardless of characteristics like DKA severity, duration of symptoms, and type of treatments received. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons A/S. However, only small studies have specifically investigated these agents in patients who are excluded or underrepresented in clinical trials, frequently referred to as "special populations" or "underrepresented populations." These include older adults, those with dysregulated immune activation, patients with a compromised immune function, and those carrying major viral infections, lymphoproliferative diseases, and major organ dysfunctions. Therefore, there remains substantial uncertainty regarding the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors in these specific settings. The Network of Italian Supportive Care in Oncology has carried out a multidisciplinary project, with the contribution of oncologists and other specialists, to retrieve the existing evidence on the use of immunotherapy in patients with solid and hematological cancers with the final aim to provide an expert guidance. The results es, are presented in this article and could be useful to guide decisions both in clinical practice and to design clinical trials. © AlphaMed Press 2020.AIMS To explore the qualitative literature on the perceived factors, positive and negative, affecting participation by children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes in physical activity, from the perspective of children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes, their family members, teachers or sports coaches, and healthcare professionals. METHODS MEDLINE, SPORTDiscus, PsycINFO, CINAHL and Scopus were systematically searched in July 2019. Eligible studies included any that reported qualitative findings on the perceived factors that affect participation in physical activity from either the perspective of children or adolescents with type 1 diabetes, their family members, teachers or coaches, and healthcare professionals. RESULTS The literature search yielded a total of 7859 studies, of which 14 (13 qualitative studies and one mixed-methods study) met the review inclusion criteria. In total there were 12 unique populations containing 270 individuals, 105 children or adolescents with type 1 diabetes,108 family members, 37 teachers and 20 healthcare professionals. The main factors thought to influence physical activity for this population were the individual characteristics of children and adolescents, the requirement for self-blood glucose regulation, support systems including friends, family, teachers and professionals, education and knowledge, and communication. CONCLUSIONS This review synthesizes views on the perceived factors from several different perspectives. The findings suggest that it is important to consider the needs of the wider support network, as well as the child's or adolescent's concerns and preferences, when developing new or existing strategies and programmes to promote physical activity in children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes. This reaction is catalyzed by a zinc-dependent alcohol dehydrogenase, 10-hydroxygeraniol dehydrogenase, belonging to the family of medium-chain dehydrogenase/reductase (MDR). Here, we report the crystal structures of a novel 10-hydroxygeraniol dehydrogenase from Catharanthus roseus in its apo and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP+ ) bound forms. Structural analysis and docking studies reveal how subtle conformational differences of loops L1, L2, L3, and helix α9' at the orifice of the catalytic site confer differential activity of the enzyme toward various substrates, by modulating the binding pocket shape and volume. The present study, first of its kind, provides insights into the structural basis of substrate specificity of MDRs specific to linear substrates. Furthermore, comparison of apo and NADP+ bound structures suggests that the enzyme adopts open and closed states to facilitate cofactor binding. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.This systematic review and network meta-analysis synthesized evidence on the effects of third-wave cognitive behaviour therapies (3wCBT) on body weight, and psychological and physical health outcomes in adults with overweight or obesity. Studies that included a 3wCBT for the purposes of weight management and measured weight or body mass index (BMI) pre-intervention and ≥ 3 months post-baseline were identified through database searches (MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane database [CENTRAL], PsycINFO, AMED, ASSIA, and Web of Science). Thirty-seven studies were eligible; 21 were randomized controlled trials (RCT) and included in the network meta-analyses. Risk of bias was assessed using RoB2, and evidence quality was assessed using GRADE. Random-effects pairwise meta-analysis found moderate- to high-quality evidence suggesting that 3wCBT had greater weight loss than standard behavioural treatment (SBT) at post-intervention (standardized mean difference [SMD] -0.09, 95% confidence interval [CI] -0.22, 0.04; N = 19; I2 = 32%), 12 months (SMD -0.
