A Look Into The Future What's In The Pipeline? Double Pushchair Industry Look Like In 10 Years?
Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

It's easy to move around in the lightweight double pushchair especially if you have kids with different age groups. They are generally easy to steer, fold and transport up and down the stairs.

This City Mini GT2 features side-by-side seating with plenty of legroom. It also has adjustable reclining, UPF 50+ canopy and windows that peek out. It also has an expanding frame the width to accommodate the second car seat or an additional passenger.

Side-by-Side

The majority of the lightweight double pushchairs that we tested were side-by-side models. These are best for children who can stand up without assistance, as they lack compatibility with car seats. However they do have a few advantages. Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both excellent options that offer adjustable recline in both seats, a wide canopy and padded 5-point harnesses. They are also easy to maneuver despite their bigger footprint. They are ideal for parents who fret about getting through doors.

The Cybex Duet is a little different because its clever frame extends its width to create another seat, which makes it lighter than most other side-by-side pushchairs on the market. It is able to fit through doors that are standard and is easy to maneuver on public transport. It is also a jogger which is great when you are planning to use it with an infant car seat or a baby carrier.

The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another excellent lightweight side-by-side double. It offers even more customization thanks to the modular frame. It's a clever design that allows you to convert it into a single stroller or a double by incorporating 2 carrycots or car seats (it can even take twins). It's an outstandingly practical choice for families that are growing and the UPPAbaby is one of the lightest and most stylish umbrella strollers on the market.

If you prefer a more compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 that folds down to the size of a small suitcase. It can be used as a single or a double with the addition of two carrycots or infant car seats, and our home testers loved how sleek and simple it was to use, even when fully loaded with kids.

Side-by-side pushchairs that are lightweight aren't 100% foolproof, however- if your children are the same age or at the same stage, they might be fighting over who rides in which seat. And if they're taller than each other, a tandem style might be more suitable for them since it will allow them to look at each other.

Tandem

While side-byside models are more for children with similar age, tandem lightweight double stroller s come with their own charms. Some can fit a larger car seat and some have reversible seats. Others even have an additional carrycot or convertible seat in the middle. They tend to be more spacious and easy to access and exit from the baskets, though they are usually smaller than those of single buggies. They often have larger canopy as well as peekaboo windows, and even cushioned leg cushions.

The iCandy Peach tandem is another great example of a lightweight tandem that provides an excellent value. The fabric is a little less luxurious than our other top-rated doubles however, it still looks and feels great and is easy to use. One of the most impressive things about it is its one-handed fold - although it will require some practice, Kirstie in our Lab has said it's "genius". The carrycot can't be folded when it is attached. However, the process to attach and remove the carrycot is simple and quick.

Tandem double pushchairs are light and lightweight. They generally have tighter turns than side-by-side models however, they can be more difficult to drive on uneven surfaces and curbs. They may also be slow to pick up speed and may be heavier to move, which can put stress on your back.

A convertible double buggy is another alternative. It starts out as an individual, but you can add adapters to make it double. They can include an additional seat, a carrycot, or both in front. Children can share a seat. Some of them also offer the option of adding buggy boards that can aid an older child keep up with younger siblings.

The Uppababy Vista V2 can be converted into a twin-sized pram by purchasing additional cocoons for PS59 each. These cocoons create an open space for infants. These can be placed on top of each other or positioned to face each other and you can also use them in conjunction with the infant car seat that comes with the pushchair (as as long as you select the right one). These buggies with dual-use capabilities are made of quality materials and can be used for a long time without showing any wear. This means they come with an excellent resale value.

Single-to-Double

This light double buggy is made for families who love to go on outdoor adventures and would like to upgrade from an individual-stroller. It can be transformed into a jogger with kits that include air-filled tires as well as all-wheel suspension. It can also handle rough terrain well and it's a tandem triple that is suitable for twins or children of various age groups. It's a great option for parents who want a stylish style that's as simple as a single. It comes in different fabric colours.

This iCandy model is very easy to fold using a one-handed system. It's also heavier than the other pushchairs that are single-to-double in this review, home tester Karolina said that it still is very maneuverable, even when she had two toddlers and a carrycot in it.

The seat can be used parent-facing, and you can also purchase accessories for this stroller, such as the Roma Gemini carrycots (PS100 each), which are ideal for infants. Our test panel found the seats were comfortable for toddlers, with excellent headrests and lumbar support. There are a variety of options for reclined seats with the front seat adjustable in different positions and the back seat offering a reclining option.

The biggest drawback with this type of buggy is that it is generally wider overall than side-by-side doubles and makes it difficult to navigate through doorways and can be tricky to maneuver up and down kerbs. However, the wheels and suspension are generally able to perform well in handling paved surfaces, and the fact that they're usually much lighter than some of the side-by-sides, means you still find plenty of storage space. It's important to keep in mind that these strollers aren't as good at navigating narrow aisles in supermarkets and aren't able to handle a large amount of shopping. Even though it's easier to turn the stroller on a small curved path, this can still be a challenge. Some are also easier to turn than others, such as the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double, for example.

Convertible

The benefit of convertible double pushchairs is that they are able to adapt to a family's changing requirements. Often, they start as single buggies, and have adapters that allow you to include a second child's seat or carrycot, or (in certain instances) an automobile seat to the frame. Some can even convert back to a single buggie when your child grows older and begins to walk more or prefers to ride on buggy boards.

One of the lightest double strollers we have on our list, this sleek tri-fold model is able to hold children up to 40 lbs each. It comes with an easy-to-use basket between the seats for storage. The spacious canopy with peekaboo window, multi-position reclining seats as well as front and back suspensions for smoother and more comfortable riding on rough terrain were appreciated by the home testers. It also has a convenient cup holder for parents and a large, easy-to access basket. The backs of the bags have small pockets that are just large enough to hold a phone and a set of keys.

This premium, lightweight side-by-side can be used in more than 20 different configurations and includes an additional seat and carrycot. It has a distinctive steering handlebar, rear and front suspensions to smooth rough terrain and an ultra-compact fold that can be folded up with straps to make it easy to transportation, and seven-inch front wheel with swivel locks, and ten-inch back wheels with suspensions for more comfortable riding. The only drawback is that you'll need purchase a separate baby carrier or car seat.

This versatile tandem is a top pick among our home testers for its easy-to-maneuver size and impressively large shopping basket, which is accessible with both seats in the parent-facing position. Its light weight (about the same as a few single pushchairs) makes it easy to maneuver. Many people praise the clever way it attaches the second seat or riding board to the back. Parents also appreciated the fact that it could accommodate infant car seats and carriers from a variety of brands, including those that don't normally fit in other double buggies.
