Tobacco exposure is the major risk factor for lung cancer. Previous studies have shown that there is a correlation between tobacco consumption and lung cancer mortality, but they do not show a specific trend. This study established the polynomial distributed lags (PDLs) model to explore the distributional lag effect between tobacco consumption and lung cancer mortality by using the lung cancer mortality rate of residents in Henan Province and the annual per capita tobacco consumption data from 1992 to 2016 and adopted dynamic simulation prediction method to predict lung cancer mortality for the next 20 years. We found that per capita tobacco consumption had a 10-year lag effect on lung cancer mortality. The harm of tobacco consumption did not show in the first 4 years, but after a lag of 4 years or more, the lung cancer mortality in men was higher than that in women, with a peak effect occurring 10 years later. The prediction showed that if per capita tobacco consumption was controlled, lung cancer mortality would show a steady decline trend after 10 years. These results suggested that tobacco consumption and lung cancer mortality were asynchronous, with a lag effect of tobacco use on the occurrence of lung cancer.The green credit is one of the effective tools to save energy and reduce pollution, which mainly applies in industry. Thus, this paper explores the impact of green credit on the upgrading of China's industrial structure from the perspective of industrial sectors, by means of a dynamic panel model with the dada from 2005 to 2016. The upgrading of industrial structure is divided into three dimensions to be analyzed-rationalization of industrial structure (RIS), advancement of industrial structure (AIS), and greenization of industrial structure (GIS). The empirical results are also explained by four influence mechanisms-resource allocation, technological innovation, credit catalysis, and policy guidance mechanism. This paper finds that on the national level, green credit has a positive impact on the upgrading of China's industrial structure and plays a significant role in promoting the greenization and advancement of industrial structure. However, on the regional level, the effect of green credit is more complex. First, green credit has a significant positive effect on the GIS in the eastern, central, and western regions of China, which suggests that green credit is conductive to the cleaner production of industry across the country. Second, green credit also has a positive impact on the AIS in these three regions, but the effect is only significant in the eastern region. Third, in terms of the RIS, the effect of green credit is positive but not significant in the eastern and central regions. However, it is negative, not significant as well, in the western region, which can be explained from the perspective of the resource allocation and technological innovation mechanism. In addition, there is a significant positive correlation between the previous period and the current value of RIS, AIS, and GIS, which indicates that there is a significant positive inertia dynamic feature in the upgrading of China's industrial structure.This study explored the epidemiology and health literacy of people affected by viral hepatitis (VH) from migrant culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds attending a community-based general practitioner and specialty hepatology shared-care (HEPREACH) clinic in Brisbane, Australia. Patient-reported data on health literacy and clinical information from adult patients (n = 66) of CALD background recruited from the liver clinic were analyzed. Health literacy was assessed using a 5-question, 12-point scale. Variance weighted multiple linear regression was used to identify factors associated with knowledge about VH. About three-quarters of patients (74.2%) were diagnosed with hepatitis B. The median knowledge score was 7.8 (interquartile range [IQR] 6‒9). One in five patients did not understand the infective nature of VH, 30.3% did not understand mother-to-child transmission risk, and 30-40% of patients thought activities such as kissing, sharing food or mosquito bites could spread VH. Only 6% of patients understood the risk of liver cancer and the need for regular screening. Higher educational level (secondary, β = 4.8, p  less then  0.0001 or tertiary, β = 8.1, p  less then  0.0001 vs. primary) was associated with better knowledge, and transition through a refugee camp (vs. not, β = - 1.2, p = 0.028) and country of diagnosis (overseas vs. Australia, β = - 1.9, p = 0.016) were associated with poorer knowledge. Country of origin, refugee status and opportunities for tertiary education impact patients' understanding of VH. Ensuring delivery of culturally appropriate care and education is critical to improve knowledge, reduce misconceptions to improve care and outcomes for VH in CALD migrant communities.Drawing on the social-ecological systems perspective of health, this study explores whether the deteriorating trend of immigrant health over time differs depending on immigrants' pre-migration macro-level factors in their birth country. Using the Household, Income, and Labor Dynamics in Australia survey (N = 1,847), we conducted an HLM analysis to examine the association among GDP per capita in the birth country, length of stay, and immigrants' health status post-migration. Support was found for both the negative association between the length of stay and health and the positive association between the GDP of the birth country and health. The negative association between length of stay and health was stronger among immigrants from low GDP countries compared to those from high GDP countries. Our findings suggest the importance of the population-level characteristics of the birth country in understanding healthy immigrant effect post-migration.BREST and PREDICA scores have recently emerged for the diagnosis of acute heart failure (AHF) in the emergency department (ED). This study aimed to perform a head-to-head comparison in a large contemporary cohort. BREST and PREDICA scores were calculated from, respectively, 11 and 8 routine clinical variables recorded in the ED in 1386 patients from the PArADIsE cohort. The diagnostic performance of the scores for adjudicated AHF diagnosis was assessed by the area under the ROC curve (AUC). Doxorubicin Antineoplastic and I inhibitor Acute HF diagnosis was adjudicated according to the European Society of Cardiology criteria and BNP levels. A BREST score ≤ 3 or PREDICA score ≤ 1 was associated with low probabilities of AHF (5.7% and 2.6%, respectively). Conversely, a BREST score ≥ 9 or PREDICA score ≥ 5 was associated with a high risk of AHF diagnosis (77.3% and 66.9%, respectively) although more than half of the population was within the "gray zone" (4-8 and 2-4 for the BREST and PREDICA scores, respectively). Diagnostic performances of both scores were good (AUC 79.1%, [66.1-82.1] for the BREST score and 82.4%, [79.8-85.0] for the PREDICA score). PREDICA score had significantly higher diagnostic performance than BREST score (increase in AUC 3.3 [0.8-5.8], p = 0.009). Our study emphasizes the good diagnostic performance of both BREST and PREDICA scores, albeit with a significantly higher diagnostic performance of the PREDICA score. Yet, more than half of the population was classified within the "gray zone" by these scores; additional diagnostic tools are needed to ascertain AHF diagnosis in the ED in a majority of patients. Clinical trial registration NCT02800122.Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a specific form of chronic, progressive, fibrosing interstitial pneumonia of unknown cause that leads to respiratory failure and death within few years of diagnosis. Pulmonary hypertension (PH) is a common complication in IPF, where it is strongly associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Patients with IPF and PH have particularly poor prognosis, despite current best medical therapies and the anti-fibrotic therapy with pirfenidone or nintedanib. The aim of our study was to assess the clinical and prognostic impact of PH in patients affected by IPF, already treated with pirfenidone or nintedanib. Seventy-four consecutive outpatients with a diagnosis of IPF, in therapy with pirfenidone or nintedanib, were prospectively enrolled in the study. All patients underwent pulmonary and cardiology assessment by clinical exam, spirometry, DLCO test, chest CT, 6MWT and echocardiography performed by a cardiologist experienced in PH in an ambulatory setting under resting condiGAP index. The development and progression of PH in patients affected by IPF reduce the survival and the severity of PH is associated with a reduction of DLCO value and an increase of the GAP index. Echocardiographic stratification based on PAsP values may be useful in stratifying prognosis in IPF patients and deciding specific PAH drugs.Emodin, the effective component of the traditional Chinese medicine Dahuang, has anti-inflammatory effects. However, the protective effects and potential mechanisms of emodin are not clear. This study investigated the protective effects and potential mechanisms of emodin on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) in vitro and in vivo. In vivo, we designed an LPS-induced ALI rat model. In vitro, we chose the J774A.1 cell line to establish an inflammatory cellular model, and knocked down NOD-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) using small interfering RNA. The mRNA and protein expression of NLRP3, a C-terminal caspase recruitment domain (ASC), caspase 1 (CASP1), and gasdermin D (GSDMD) in cells and lung tissues were detected by western blot and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The expression levels of interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β) and IL-18 in the serum and supernatant were determined by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The degree of pathological injury in lung tissue was evaluated by hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. In vitro, we demonstrated that emodin could inhibit NLRP3 and then inhibit the expression of ASC, CASP1, GSDMD, IL-1β, and IL-18. In vivo, we confirmed that emodin had protective effects on LPS-induced ALI and inhibitory effects on NLRP3 inflammasome -dependent pyroptosis. It is critical to comprehend the connection between oxidative stress and inflammation generation, mediated by glycated protein, which may bind to the receptor RAGE, activate downstream pathways, and impart immunogenicity in RA.
