Stakeholders should pay attention to individuals who report altered gambling habits during the pandemic.Diagenetic changes are a concern in carbonate petroleum reservoir management. One of the challenges is to determine whether the pore systems are related to diagenesis and/or depositions, and how associated mechanisms affect reservoir quality. The purpose of this study was to assess variations in porosity and permeability due to diagenetic processes in the paleokarst zone of the Middle Eocene Upper Dammam Formation in Kuwait. This zone is 14 m thick and exposed in a quarry in southern Kuwait. The exposed section is divided into three lithological units, described here from the bottom to top chalky dolostone, karst dolostone, and karst carapace. These rocks have been affected by several diagenetic processes, including dolomitisation, dissolution, cementation, replacement, recrystallisation, and fracturing. Significant variations have been observed in porosity and permeability, both vertically and horizontally. In the chalky dolostone layer, the highest porosity and permeability were measured at 53 % and 6000 mD, respectively. The maximum porosity and permeability in the karst dolostone layer were 44.23 % and 1140 mD, respectively. The karst carapace had the lowest porosity (30 %) and permeability (100 mD). Majority of the porosities were of isolated mouldic or vuggy forms. Pores formed in the rock framework were vuggy, fractured, and more connected. They were formed at later stages by meteoric water dissolution, acidic gases produced during the thermal maturation of kerogen in the petroleum source rocks, or a combination of both processes. The results of this study may be applicable to analogous subsurface carbonate reservoir rocks. The present paper is designed to shed some light on one of the main subfields of audiovisual translation, namely voice-over, and mainly attempts to capture the intricacies involved in English-Arabic translation of a BBC television documentary entitled NW Great. The sample of the study consists of 10 MA translation students at Al-Quds University, enrolled in Audiovisual Translation I for the academic year 2016/2017. The paper confirms what Orero (2004) is inclined to conclude, that besides voice-over's main defining features, namely faithfulness and synchrony, etc., student translators are commonly faced with several technical (e.g., synchrony in voice-over, observable in the same way as Orero (2004) argues, close-ups, etc.) and linguistic problems and potential semantic and stylistic loss. The study also has a pedagogical angle thought to be useful to trainers and trainees of the audiovisual translation mode of voice-over.Liver flukes Fasciola hepatica, Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis are causing agents of liver and hepatobiliary diseases. A remarkable difference between such worms is the fact that O. viverrini and C. sinensis are carcinogenic organisms whereas F. hepatica is not carcinogenic. The release of secretory factors by carcinogenic flukes seems to contribute to cancer development however if some of these target the host cell nuclei is unknown. We investigated the existence of O. viverrini and C. sinensis secretory proteins that target the nucleus of host cells and compared these with the corresponding proteins predicted in F. hepatica. Here we applied an algorithm composed by in silico approaches that screened and analyzed the potential genes predicted from genomes of liver flukes. We found 31 and 22 secretory proteins that target the nucleus of host cells in O. viverrini and C. sinensis, respectively, and that have no homologs in F. hepatica. These polypeptides have enriched the transcription initiation process and nucleic acid binding in O. viverrini and C. sinensis, respectively. In addition, other 11 secretory proteins of O. viverrini and C. sinensis, that target the nucleus of host cells, had F. hepatica homologs, have enriched RNA processing function. In conclusion, O. viverrini and C. sinensis have 31 and 22 genes, respectively, that may be involved in their carcinogenic action through a direct targeting on the host cell nuclei.Safe and effective oral formulation of a drug, that is easy to store, transport, and administer, is imperative to reach the masses including those without adequate facilities and resources, in order to combat globally transmitted coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). In this decision analytic modeling study, the safety of investigational COVID-19 drugs in clinical trials was assessed using the Abbreviated Profile of Drugs (APOD) methodology. The method was extensively tested for various unbiased datasets based on different criteria such as drugs recalled worldwide for failing to meet safety standards, organ-specific toxicities, cytochrome P450 inhibitors, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs with remarkable successes. Experimental validation of the predictions made by APOD were demonstrated by comparison with a progression of multiparametric optimization of a series of cancer drugs that led to a potent drug (GDC-0941) which went into the clinical development. The drugs were classified into three categories of safety profiles strong, moderate and weak. A total of 3556 drugs available in public databases were examined. According to the results, drugs with strong safety profiles included molnupiravir (EIDD-2801), moderate safety profiles included dexamethasone, and weak safety profiles included lopinavir. In this analysis, the physicochemical-pharmacokinetic APOD fingerprint was associated with the drug safety profile of withdrawn, approved, as well as drugs in clinical trials and the APOD method facilitated decision-making and prioritization of the investigational treatments.Cryptosporidium is an intracellular coccidian parasite causing gastrointestinal disturbances resulting in diarrhoea in humans and animals. It is more frequently detected in calves and early childhood, and one of the major causes of mortality in low-income countries. National estimates of Cryptosporidium infection rate in cattle and humans are lacking in Ethiopia. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis estimated the prevalence and assess the risk factors of Cryptosporidium infection in cattle and humans over 20 years. Article searches were made using PubMed, HINARI, Research Gates, AJOLs and Google Scholar databases. Studies that met the inclusion criteria under the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) checklist were used. Random effects models and Inverse Variance Index were used to calculate the pooled prevalence of cryptosporidiosis and heterogeneity among studies, respectively. A total of 23 eligible studies published between 2000 and 2020 were selected fumans.
The aim was to reach consensus in The Netherlands on which parameters should be used to evaluate breast cancer radiotherapy (RT) plans.
A Benchmark Case with delineated planning target volumes (PTVs) and Organs At Risk (OARs) was sent to all Dutch radiotherapy centres in combination with a questionnaire, with the request to generate RT plans prescribing 15 times 2.67Gy for four different treatment indications according to the institutional irradiation technique. The plans and accompanying questionnaire answers were analysed using descriptive statistics. These results, together with a harmonisation proposal, were sent to all centres. The proposal was discussed at a meeting of the Dutch Society of Radiation Oncology breast cancer platform. Distinct parameters were accepted if consensus on them was reached.
19 out of 20 Dutch departments participated in this study. PTV coverage varied considerably, with D98% between 63% and 99% for the breast and between 37% and 97% for the internal mammary nodes (IMN). Also substantial OAR dose differences were observed, with e.g. mean heart doses ranging between 1.85Gy and 5.42Gy in case the IMN were included in the PTV. For evaluation of the PTVs D98%, D2% and Dmean were chosen to report on, with target values of≥95% (90% for the PTV_IMN), ≤ 107%, and 99-101%, respectively. For OARs, consensus was reached on the parameters to be evaluated, without target values Dmean of the heart, Dmean and V5% of the lungs, and in case of periclavicular radiotherapy V30Gy of the thyroid gland. For patients younger than 40years a contralateral mean breast dose of≤1Gy was agreed upon.
A new Dutch consensus guideline for evaluation of breast cancer RT plans has been established.
A new Dutch consensus guideline for evaluation of breast cancer RT plans has been established.
The induction, progression and resolution of liver fibrosis are influenced by multiple chemokines. The inhibition of CCR1 signalling by a specific non-peptide inhibitor (BX471) reduces kidney fibrosis after unilateral ureteral obstruction via suppression of leukocyte recruitment in mice. However, it remains unclear whether selective CCR1 inhibition also affects hepatic fibrogenesis. Therefore we aimed to study the effect of this intervention on liver fibrosis in prevention (CCl
administration) and rescue (ABCB4-deficient mice) mouse models.
In the prevention model, hepatic fibrosis was induced by repeated injections of CCl
. Additionally, the verum group was treated with subcutaneous injections of BX471, while controls received vehicle only. ABCB4 deficient mice (on the BALB/c-background) with sclerosing cholangitis and biliary fibrosis received BX471 or vehicle, respectively (rescue model). Liver histopathology was assessed after Sirius red staining of collagen, and hepatic collagen contents were measither affect serum and tissue markers of liver injury and fibrosis in the CCl4 model and only moderately in the Abcb4 -/- model of biliary fibrosis. The animal models indicate that treatment with BX471 alone is unlikely to exert major beneficial effects in chronic liver disease. The dynamics of a mitotic spindle is very important to understand if the functioning of mitosis has to be understood and defined very accurately. There are a number of forces involved in such a process. Despite of the fact that there have been numerous studies done on the functioning of a mitotic spindle, there is still not a very precise understanding of this system and how it behaves. This study aims at understanding and expressing all the possible potentials which might be responsible in a mitotic spindle and its mechanism. We investigated the cytoprotective effect of desipramine (DMI) during in vitro simulated ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) of rat hepatocytes. Primary hepatocytes isolated from male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to 4 h of anoxia at pH 6.2 followed by normoxia at pH 7.4 for 2 h to simulate ischemia and reperfusion, respectively. find more During simulated reperfusion, some hepatocytes were reoxygenated using media containing 5 μM DMI. Necrotic cell death and the onset of mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) were assessed using fluorometry and confocal microscopy. Changes in autophagic flux and autophagy-related proteins (ATGs) were analyzed by immunoblotting. DMI was shown to substantially delay MPT onset and suppress I/R related cell damage. Mechanistically, DMI treatment during reperfusion increased the expression level of the microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3 (LC3) processing enzymes, ATG4B and ATG7. Genetic knockdown of ATG4B abolished the cytoprotective effect of DMI. Together, these results indicate that DMI is a unique agent which enhances LC3 processing in an ATG4B-dependent way.
