This retrospective study was designed to evaluate risk factors of the occurrence and severity of chylous ascites after complete mesocolic excision (CME) and D3lymphadenectomy in patients with right-sided colon cancer.

Consecutive patients receiving CME and D3lymphadenectomy for right-sided colon cancer were included. Risk factors of the occurrence and severity of chylous ascites by using logistic analysis were assessed. A nomogram predicting chylous ascites was constructed.

Among 661 patients included in the study, postoperative chylous ascites occurred in 48 (7.3%) patients. Logistic regression analysis demonstrated that prognostic nutritional index (PNI≤47, OR=2.172, p=0.016), laparoscopic surgery (OR=2.798, p=0.034), operating time (>225min, OR=2.645, p=0.002), and apical lymph node (APN) metastasis (OR=3.698, p=0.034) were correlated with the occurrence of postoperative chylous ascites. A nomogram predicting postoperative chylous ascites was constructed (C-index 0.701). 31.2% (15/48) of patients with chylous ascites were resolved in more than 7days. The number of retrieved lymph nodes (OR=1.074, 95% CI 1.002-1.152, p=0.044) and PNI≤47 (OR=7.890, 95% CI 1.224-50.869, p=0.030) were independently predictive of prolonged chylous ascites resolution (≥7days).

To outline our step-by-step surgical technique using a subcoronal buccal mucosal graft (BMG) resurfacing technique for the treatment of recurrent penile adhesions.

To perform the 'buccal belt' procedure a subcoronal circumferential segment of diseased skin was excised. An appropriately sized BMG was circumferentially secured subcoronally with a proximal and distal anastomosis to the edges of the wound. Quilting stitches were also placed to allow proper graft fixation. A petroleum jelly bolster was secured as a tie-over dressing. Patients were discharged with a Foley catheter and the bolster dressing in place. The bolster and Foley catheter were removed 7 days postoperatively. The patients were then seen for follow-up at 4- to 6-month intervals. Panobinostat A retrospective, international multi-institutional review was conducted to include all patients who underwent this procedure. Surgical complications, evidence of recurrence, and patient-reported outcome measures including visual analogue scale (VAS) and global response assessment (GRA) questionnaires were reviewed.

Thirty-one men underwent the procedure across six institutions between March 2014 and September 2020. The mean (range) surgical time was 59 (25-95) min. At the mean (range) follow-up of 27 (4-79) months all patients reported resolution of presenting symptoms and no recurrence of adhesions. Pain is a major characteristic in haemophilic arthropathy. Identifying the psychosocial variables affected by pain can help when addressing these patients.

To assess the relationship between perceived intensity of chronic pain and joint damage, kinesiophobia, catastrophism, anxiety and perceived quality of life in adult patients with haemophilic arthropathy.

Multicentre cross-sectional descriptive study. Seventy-seven adult patients with haemophilic arthropathy were recruited. The usual and maximum pain intensity (Visual Analog Scale), joint status (Haemophilia Joint Health Score), Kinesiophobia (Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia), catastrophism (Pain catastrophizing scale), anxiety (State-Trait Anxiety inventory) and perceived quality of life (36-Item Short Form Health Survey) were evaluated. The correlation between usual and maximum pain intensity with quantitative variables was obtained with Spearman`s correlation test. Kruskal-Wallis one-way ANOVA analysed differences in perceived pain according to the severity and type of treatment, and development of inhibitors.

The usual intensity of perceived pain correlated positively with catastrophism, kinesiophobia, and state and trait anxiety. The same results were obtained when analysing the maximum perception of pain. We found an inverse correlation between the physical component of perceived quality of life and usual and maximum pain intensity perceived by patients.

BP-C60 consists of a BOPHY fluorophore covalently attached to a C60 moiety through a pyrrolidine ring. The BOPHY core works as a visible-light-harvesting antenna, while the fullerene C60 subunit elicits the photodynamic action. This fluorophore-fullerene cycloadduct, obtained by a straightforward synthetic route, was fully characterized and compared with its individual counterparts. The restricted rotation around the single bond connecting the BOPHY and pyrrolidine moieties led to the formation of two atropisomers. Spectroscopic, electrochemical, and computational studies disclose an efficient photoinduced energy/electron transfer process from BOPHY to fullerene C60 . Photodynamic studies indicate that BP-C60 produces ROS by both photomechanisms (type I and type II). Moreover, the dyad exhibits higher ROS production efficiency than its individual constitutional components.
