Adenovirus infection is usually mild in presentation. However during pregnancy, the course can be more severe.

A 21-year-old woman in her second pregnancy presented with abdominal pain, vomiting, and fevers at 34 weeks and 4 days of gestation. Her respiratory pathogen panel on nasopharyngeal secretions was positive for adenovirus. Electrolytes were notable for hypomagnesaemia and persistent hypokalemia (nadir of 2.6 mmol/L) despite repletion but otherwise unremarkable. During her course, she developed rhabdomyolysis. click here During routine fetal monitoring at 35 weeks and 6 days of gestation, prolonged fetal bradycardia was identified, and an emergency caesarean delivery was performed. The infant had no clinical or laboratory evidence of adenovirus infection. The patient had a protracted clinical course but recovered with supportive care.

Adenovirus can present with severe complications in a pregnant woman including hypokalemia and rhabdomyolysis. The mainstay of treatment is supportive care and monitoring of electrolyte abnormalities and renal function.

It is an occlusive vascular disorder, characterised by episodic non-atherosclerotic thrombosis of small- and medium-sized blood vessels. Thromboangiitis obliterans predominantly occurs in males aged less than 50 years and is almost exclusively diagnosed in smokers. The small number of published cases have frequently reported worsening of thrombotic symptoms, due to the hypercoagulable state of pregnancy, and potential pregnancy complications of intra-uterine growth restriction and pre-term labour. This report provides a summary of the literature and outlines the case of a pregnant 23-year-old female with thromboangiitis obliterans, who was managed with low-dose enoxaparin and aspirin. Her thrombotic symptoms were stable during pregnancy; however, her pregnancy was complicated by placental malperfusion and intra-uterine growth restriction.McArdle disease is an autosomal recessive disorder affecting skeletal muscle glycogen metabolism. Limited data are available regarding pregnancy outcomes with this genetic condition. We present a recent case of a woman with McArdle disease, along with a scoping review of all published literature regarding pregnancy and delivery outcomes for women with McArdle disease. A total of 35 cases are summarised. Overall, pregnancy does not worsen or increase the risk for disease flare. Women can successfully deliver vaginally, with consideration of an assisted second stage recommended to reduce the risk of postpartum rhabdomyolysis.
To examine whether change in neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, a marker of systemic inflammation, differs by childhood adversity and prenatal depression.

Prenatal complete blood count data were used to calculate neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in first and third trimesters. The Adverse Childhood Experiences scale measured childhood adversity, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 measured depression. This is a secondary analysis of a study of predictors of risk for sleep-disordered breathing.

Participants were 98 pregnant women, mean age 30 years (
 = 5), mean body mass index of 35 kg/m
(
= 7), 61% identified as white, and 28% identified as Hispanic. Women who reported childhood sexual abuse history displayed greater increase in neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio over pregnancy relative to women without childhood sexual abuse. Change in neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio across pregnancy did not differ by prenatal depression.

Experiences of sexual abuse in childhood may impact markers of systemic inflammation in pregnancy.

Described here are three women with a variety of pathology isolated secretory paraganglioma diagnosed in pregnancy, secretory metastatic paraganglioma in pregnancy and non-secretory metastatic paraganglioma in pregnancy. Whilst paragangliomas are associated with morbidity and mortality during pregnancy, good maternal and fetal outcomes can be achieved through individualised care within the context of a multidisciplinary team. Thus, it is important to better understand the types and hours of interventions that participants typically receive as part of standard of care, as well as to understand the child, family, and geographic factors that are associated with different patterns of service utilization. In this multi-site study, we interviewed 280 caregivers of 6-to-11-year-old school-aged children on the autism spectrum about the types and amounts of interventions their children received in the prior 6 weeks. Reported interventions were coded as "evidence-based practice" or "other interventions," reflecting the level of empirical support. Results indicated that children received a variety of interventions with varying levels of empirical evidence and a wide range of hours (0 to 79.3 hours/week). Children with higher autism symptom levels, living in particular states, and who identified as non-Hispanic received more evidence-based intervention hours. Higher parental education level related to more hours of other interventions. Children who were younger, had lower cognitive ability, and with higher autism symptom levels received a greater variety of interventions overall. Thus, based on our findings, it would seem prudent when designing clinical trials to take into consideration a variety of factors including autism symptom levels, age, cognitive ability, ethnicity, parent education and geographic location. Future research should continue to investigate the ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic influences on school-aged intervention services. This research was aimed at exploring the construction and evaluation method of the comprehensive emergency response system for public health emergencies under the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) epidemic situation based on discrete stochastic mathematical model. The response of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDCP) of Taiyuan city in the COVID-19 epidemic situation was taken as an example. A new discrete stochastic COVID-19 epidemic spread mathematical model which integrated public health intervention and input cases was proposed. The model was parameterized by multisource data, and the impact of different flow patterns on the risk of secondary outbreak was analyzed. The advantages and disadvantages of its emergency system construction were analyzed. Additionally, the improvement measures and suggestions for the existing problems were proposed. Results suggested that there was only one specialized disease prevention and control institution in Taiyuan, and there were only 11 centers for disn can effectively reduce the risk of secondary outbreak. The system analysis here also provides theoretical basis for improving the construction of public health emergency response system in Taiyuan. This paper is devoted to answering some questions using a mathematical model by analyzing India's first and second phases of the COVID-19 pandemic. A new mathematical model is introduced with a nonmonotonic incidence rate to incorporate the psychological effect of COVID-19 in society. The paper also discusses the local stability and global stability of an endemic equilibrium and a disease-free equilibrium. The basic reproduction number is evaluated using the proposed COVID-19 model for disease spread in India based on the actual data sets. The study of nonperiodic solutions at a positive equilibrium point is also analyzed. The model is rigorously studied using MATLAB to alert the decision-making bodies to hinder the emergence of any other pandemic outbreaks or the arrival of subsequent pandemic waves. This paper shows the excellent prediction of the first wave and very commanding for the second wave. The exciting results of the paper are as follows (i) psychological effect on the human population has an impact on propagation; (ii) lockdown is a suitable technique mathematically to control the COVID spread; (iii) different variants produce different waves; (iv) the peak value always crosses its past value.
Depression is a common psychiatric problem in the elderly and oncology patients. In elderly people with cancer, depression has a peculiar phenomenology. It has a significant impact on the quality of life. Moreover, it is associated with poor adherence to treatments, increased risk of suicide, and mortality. Nevertheless, the topic of depression in elderly people with cancer remains unexplored.

The main goal of this article is to review the literature from the past 20 years on the relationships between depression, cancer, and aging.

The methods followed the Prisma model for eligibility of studies. The articles in which the keywords "depression", "cancer", " elderly, aging, or geriatric" were present, either in the text or in the abstract, were selected. 8.056 articles, by matching the keywords "depression and elderly and cancer," were identified. Only 532 papers met the eligibility criteria of search limits and selection process. Out of 532 papers, 467 were considered irrelevant, leaving 65 relevant studacological treatment and/or a combination of both can be used to treat elderly patients with cancer, but a detailed analysis of comorbidities and the assessment of polypharmacy is mandatory in order to avoid potential side-effects and interactions between antidepressants and the other drugs taken by the patients.

Future research should be conducted with the aim of developing a modified and adapted assessment method for the diagnosis and treatment of depression in elderly people with cancer in order to improve their clinical outcomes and quality of life.

Cancer is one of the most important leading causes of death worldwide. Early detection, screening and diagnosis have been demonstrated to significantly improve patients' survival rates and increase awareness of the benefit of prompt therapies and healthy lifestyles. In this context, Health-related Quality of Life (HRQoL) and several psychosocial difficulties are of relevance as prognostic factors for the trajectory of the diseases of people living with cancer.

This Special Issue aims to present a set of systematic reviews and research studies focusing on several psychosocial aspects in people suffering from hematologic and solid cancer.

Three systematic reviews regard HRQoL, the quality of patient-physician communication, depression and other stress-related difficulties, respectively. One review pointed out the difficulties in diagnosing depression in the elderly with solid cancer; another one regards the risk of cancer in severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, and severe depressive disorders.
