This study provides novel insight in the link between emotion regulation indices,that is, heart-rate variability and negative affective (NA) instability, in patients with fibromyalgia, and presents evidence for differences in both emotion regulation indices between patients with fibromyalgia and healthy people. Furthermore, results link increased NA instability with increased levels of daily disability in patients with fibromyalgia. Together, these findings offer support for a key role of emotion regulation in fibromyalgia outcomes, providing pathways for clinical practice.
This study aimed to observe changes in working posture by measuring the REBA (Rapid Entire Body Assessment) score of dental hygiene students according to digital sound feedback linked with a smartphone application.

This study was conducted on 28 fourth-year dental hygiene students who received theoretical and practical training on dental posture in the second year and then practised on mannequins and patients for about four semesters. Periodontal instrumentation was performed freely by applying digital sound notification feedback for four weeks after baseline, 30minutes per week. The acidogenic fermentation of the feedstocks, rice mill effluent (RME), and brewery effluent (BE) was studied using untreated and pretreated (cyclic heat-acid shock) brewery anaerobic sludge as inoculum. The pretreatment was successful in refining and stabilizing VFA production from the feedstocks. The fermentation of RME with pretreated sludge had an enhanced acetate yield of 0.37 ± 0.02 mgCOD/mgCOD, even to odd ratio of 20.97 ± 0.08 mg/mg and the highest butyrate yield of 0.39 ± 0.01 mgCOD/mgCOD compared to untreated system. The pretreated system had stability in COD and pH profile, while VFA content depends on the origin of inoculum. link2 Pretreatment inhibited the carbon sinks and augmented acetate-butyrate type metabolism with stable performance. The fermentation of RME by pretreated sludge produced a higher even-numbered VFAs and enhanced even to odd ratio in comparison with fermentation of BE, thereby affecting polymer composition and property. PRACTITIONER POINTS The pretreated system had stable acidification, chemical oxygen demand, and pH profile. The pretreated system had higher acetate and butyrate yield compared to the untreated system. Rice mill effluent acidified with pretreated sludge had the highest even to odd ratio, 20.97 mg/mg. The even to odd ratio for acidification of brewery effluent was insignificant. Pretreatment, the origin of sludge, and the effluent had a regulatory effect on acidification.
To determine if superior segmentectomy has equivalent overall (OS), disease-free (DFS), and locoregional-recurrence-free survival (LRFS) to lower lobectomy for early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in the superior segment.

We retrospectively reviewed all Stage 1 lower lobectomies for superior segment lesions and superior segmentectomies at our hospital from 2000 to 2018. Comparison statistics and Cox hazard modeling were performed to determine differences between groups and attempt to identify risk factors for OS, DFS, and LRFS.

Superior segmentectomy patients, compared with lower lobectomy patients, had more current smokers, worse forced expiratory volume in 1 s percentage, radiologic emphysema scores, clinically and pathologically smaller tumors, and more occurrences of 0 lymph nodes examined. Outcomes for superior segmentectomy compared with lower lobectomy were equivalent for 5-year OS (67.0% vs. 75.1%, p = 0.70), DFS (56.9% vs. 60.4%, p = 0.59), and LRFS (87.9% vs. 91.3%, p = 0.46). Multivariable Cox modeling lacked utility due to no outcome differences.

Substitution of low molecular weight reagents with redox active functional materials may increase the utility of photocatalysis beyond organic synthesis and environmental applications. Guided by the general principles of photocatalysis, we design hybrid nanocomposites composed of n-type semiconducting potassium poly(heptazine imide) (K-PHI), and p-type conducting poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOTPSS) as the redox active substrate. Electrical conductivity of the hybrid nanocomposite, possessing optimal K-PHI content, is reversibly modulated combining a series of external stimuli ranging from visible light under inert conditions and to dark conditions under an O2 atmosphere. Using a conductive polymer as the redox active substrate allows study of the photocatalytic processes mediated by semiconducting photocatalysts through electrical conductivity measurements.Recurrent attacks of acute intermittent porphyria (AIP) result in poor quality of life and significant risks of morbidity and mortality. Liver transplantation (LT) offers a cure, but published data on outcomes after LT are limited. We assessed the pretransplant characteristics, complications, and outcomes for patients with AIP who received a transplant. Data were collected retrospectively from the European Liver Transplant Registry and from questionnaires sent to identified transplant and porphyria centers. We studied 38 patients who received transplants in 12 countries from 2002 to 2019. Median age at LT was 37 years (range, 18-58), and 34 (89%) of the patients were women. A total of 9 patients died during follow-up, and 2 patients were retransplanted. The 1-year and 5-year overall survival rates were 92% and 82%, which are comparable with other metabolic diseases transplanted during the same period. Advanced pretransplant neurological impairment was associated with increased mortality. The 5-year survival rate was 94% among 19 patients with moderate or no neuropathy at LT and 83% among 10 patients with severe neuropathy (P = 0.04). Pretransplant renal impairment was common. A total of 19 (51%) patients had a GFR less then 60 mL/minute. Although few patients improved their renal function after LT, neurological impairments improved, and no worsening of neurological symptoms was recorded. No patient had AIP attacks after LT, except for a patient who received an auxiliary graft. link3 LT is a curative treatment option for patients with recurrent attacks of AIP. Severe neuropathy and impaired renal function are common and increase the risk for poor outcomes. If other treatment options fail, an evaluation for LT should be performed early.Clinicians caring for patients with sarcoma founded the field of cancer immunotherapy. Here, we review immunotherapy for sarcoma including Coley's toxins, interleukin-2, adoptive cell transfer, and checkpoint blockade. We detail recent and ongoing efforts to combine checkpoint blockade with other immune modulators, surgery, or radiation. These results, along with ongoing investigations, have identified immunotherapeutic approaches as a promising avenue for progress in advanced sarcomas.
To assess clinical presentations, pregnancy complications, and maternal and neonatal outcomes among women with multiple gestation pregnancy (MGP) and confirmed SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection and to compare the data with a pre-pandemic period.

A retrospective study at a dedicated COVID-19 Hospital in Mumbai, India. Data were obtained from the PregCovid Registry of pregnant and postpartum women with PCR-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection from April to September, 2020. Data were also compared with a cohort of women with MGP attending the hospital pre-pandemic (n=63).

Data from 879 women (singleton pregnancy, n=859; MGP, n=20) with COVID-19 were assessed. The twinning rate was 34.2 per 1000 births. As compared with singleton pregnancies, a higher proportion of women with MGP and Covid-19 delivered preterm (P=0.001). Spontaneous abortions were also higher in the MGP group than in the singleton group (P=0.055). The incidence of pre-eclampsia/eclampsia was higher in the COVID-19 MGP group than in both the COVID-19 singleton (41.6% vs. 7.9%) and pre-pandemic MGP (50.0% vs. 12.7%) groups.

There was a higher risk of pre-eclampsia among women with MGP and COVID-19. Women with MGP and COVID-19 infection should receive special attention with a multidisciplinary approach to both maternal and neonatal care during the pandemic.

To explore the status quo and the influencing factors of residents' knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) in the prevention and control of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and the difficulties or challenges perceived by residents in their preventive practice.

An online questionnaire survey.

The self-designed questionnaire was distributed among residents online in February 2020. Descriptive statistics, two independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation analysis, multivariate linear regression and content analysis were performed.

A total of 919 valid questionnaires were collected. The scoring rates of residents' KAP were 85.2%, 92.9% and 84.4% respectively. Main factors influencing residents' knowledge included gender and occupation; while those influencing attitude were occupation, family economic level and knowledge; and those influencing practice included place of residence, occupation, with or without chronic disease, knowledge and attitude. Mass media was the edge about residents' understanding, attitude, practice and the influencing factors on COVID-19 prevention and control, which serves as a scientific foundation for optimizing the pandemic public education and decision-making.
