However, the reasons for success or failure of the methods applied often remains obscure. Normalization process theory, recently developed in sociology, provides a flexible framework upon which to construct quality improvement. We sought to determine if examination of a successful quality improvement project, using normalization process theory and social marketing, provided insight into implementation. We performed a retrospective analysis of the steps taken to implement a pain management program in an electrophysiology clinic. We mapped these steps, and the corresponding social marketing tools used, to elements of normalization process theory. The combination of mapping implementation steps and marketing approaches to the theory provided insight into the quality-improvement process. Specifically, examination of the steps in the context of normalization process theory highlighted barriers to implementation at individual, group, and organizational levels. Importantly, the mapping also highlighted how facilitators were able to overcome the barriers with marketing techniques. Furthermore, integration with social marketing revealed how promotion of tangibility of benefits aided communication and how process co-creation between stakeholders enhanced value. Our implementation of a pain-management program was successful in a challenging environment composed of several stakeholder groups with entrenched initial positions. Intergenerational physical activity programs are used as an effective tool to make a positive connection between generations and provide additional health benefits for both generations. This review study aimed to examine the theories of intergenerational physical activity programs and propose the Intergenerational Taekwondo Program (ITP). Various theories such as the transtheoretical model, contact theory, social capital theory, situated learning theory, human development theory, personality theory, and whole-person wellness model have been adopted in intergenerational physical activity programs. In this paper, we used a novel Bayesian index model with spatially varying effects to explore spatial nonstationarity in NDI effects for TROs, AROs, and TAROs across census tracts in North Carolina. The results revealed substantial variation in NDI effects that varied by outlet type. However, all outlet types had strong positive effects in one coastal area. The most important variables in the NDI were percent renters, Black racial segregation, and the percentage of homes built before 1940. Overall, more disadvantaged areas experienced a greater neighborhood burden of outlets selling one or both of alcohol and tobacco.The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of the "live high, train low" method (LH-TL) and intermittent hypoxic training (IHT) on testosterone (T) and cortisol (C) levels in cyclists. Thirty cyclists participated in the experiment. The LH-TL group (n = 10) was exposed to normobaric hypoxia (FiO2 = 16.3%) for 11-12 h a day and trained in normoxia for 3 weeks. In the IHT group (n = 10), participants followed the IHT routine three times a week for 3 weeks in normobaric hypoxia (FiO2 = 16.3%). The control group (N; n = 10) followed the same training protocol in normoxia. The LH-TL training was found to significantly increase (p < 0.05) T levels and the testosterone/cortisol (T/C) ratio during the experiment. The area under the curve (AUC) calculated for T levels over 4 weeks was significantly (p < 0.05) higher in the LH-TL group, by 25.6%, compared to the N group. The results also indicated a significant correlation (r = 0.53; p < 0.05) between AUC for T levels over 4 weeks and ∆ values of hemoglobin (HGB) in the LH-TL group. This study investigated the behavioral intention to receive a booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine among factory workers who had completed their primary vaccination series. Participants were full-time factory employees at least 18 years of age in Shenzhen, China. In Shenzhen, factory workers need to receive a physical examination every year. The study sites covered all six organizations providing physical examinations for factory workers. All eligible workers attending these sites between 26 and 31 October 2021 were invited to complete an online survey. This study was based on 2329 participants who had completed the primary COVID-19 vaccination series. Two-level logistic regression models were fitted. Among the participants, 84% intended to receive a free booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine within the next six months. After controlling for significant background characteristics, we found that perceptions related to a booster dose as well as interpersonal level factors such as information exposure on social media, thoughtful consideration of the veracity of the information, and satisfaction with vaccine-related promotional materials were determinants of behavioral intention. However, the potential to reduce chemical fertilizer use in tea plantations is unclear. In this study, Zhejiang Province was selected as the research object to systematically analyze the potential for tea plantation chemical-fertilizer reduction at different spatial scales. The geographic information system-based analytic hierarchy process method and Soil and Water Assessment Tool model were used to determine the chemical fertilizer reduction potential at the province scale and watershed scale, respectively. At the field scale, two consecutive years of field experiments were conducted on a tea plantation. Province-level analysis showed that 51.7% of the area had an average total fertilization intensity greater than 350 kg/hm2 and a high reduction potential. Watershed analysis revealed that chemical fertilizer reduction had better potential in reducing total nitrogen and total phosphorus inputs to runoff in the short term, whereas 50% organic fertilizer substitution was the best strategy to achieve long-term effects. The field experiments further proved that organic fertilizer substitution balanced tea growth and environmental protection. This study provides a useful method to investigate strategies to reduce chemical fertilizer use in tea-growing areas.We aimed to understand adults' self-weighing behaviors and explore significant predictors of body mass index (BMI) accuracy based on self-reported height and weight in a diverse sample of community-dwelling adults. Methods In this cross-sectional study, 531 adults participating in a physical activity program or a weight loss program were analyzed. Participants' self-reported and objectively measured weight, height, weight scale ownership, self-weighing behaviors, and medical history were collected. Results The mean age (standard deviation) was 50.0 (12.0) years with a range of 24 to 78 years. Out of 531 participants, 455 (85.7%) were women. The study population was diverse (58.9% non-White). In total, 409 (77.0%) participants had a weight scale at home, but only 222 (41.8%) weighed themselves at least once a week. The weight and BMI underestimation became much more significant as the participant's weight increased (p ≤ 0.001). Employment status, high cholesterol, and low objectively measured weight were significant predictors of self-reported BMI accuracy after controlling for potential confounding factors (p < 0.
