This study aimed to systematically review the literature about the association between clinical measures of gingival inflammation and obesity in adults.

Searches for studies were performed in five databases (Medline-PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase) to compile studies of any design that evaluated the association between clinical measures of gingival inflammation and obesity in adults. Selection of studies, data extraction and risk of bias analysis were performed independently by two reviewers, and a third researcher was involved to resolve disagreements. Meta-analyses were performed for measures of gingival inflammation as compared to body mass index (BMI). Independent analyses were performed for studies involving periodontitis, gingivitis, and population-based/studies that did not provide a periodontal diagnosis. Standard mean deviation (SMD) and its 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were estimated.

Ninety studies were included (cross-sectional/clinical trials [n=82], case-conival inflammation.
Clinicians must be aware that higher measures of gingival inflammation may be expected for individuals with higher BMI. However, there is a necessity for further longitudinal studies regarding the association between obesity and gingival inflammation. The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic has significantly affected health care systems throughout the world. A Qualtrics survey was targeted for radiologists around the world to study its effect on the operations of prostate MRI studies and biopsies. Descriptive statistics were reported. A total of 60 complete responses from five continents were included in the analysis. 70% of the responses were from academic institutions. Among all participants, the median (range) number of prostate MRI was 20 (0, 135) per week before the COVID-19 pandemic versus 10 (0, 30) during the lockdown period; the median (range) number of prostate biopsies was 4.5 (0, 60) per week before the COVID-19 versus 0 (0, 12) during the lockdown period. Among the 30% who used bowel preparation for their patients prior to MRI routinely, 11% stopped the bowel preparation due to the pandemic. 47% reported that their radiology departments faced staff disruptions, while 68% reported changes in clinic schedules in other clinical departments, particularly urology, genitourinary medical oncology, and radiation oncology. Finally, COVID-19 pandemic was found to disrupt not only the clinical prostate MRI operations but also impacted prostate MRI/biopsy research in up to 50% of institutions. The impact of this collateral damage in delaying diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer is yet to be explored.
To evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of imaging features to predict lymph node status of colon cancer using CT.

This was a retrospective study from 2 tertiary hospitals in South Korea and Netherlands. 317 Colon cancer patients who underwent primary surgical treatment were included. Number of lymph nodes according to the anatomical location, size, cluster, degree of attenuation, shape, presence of internal heterogeneity and ill-defined margin of the lymph node were assessed and compared according to histological lymph node status.

The largest short diameter of lymph node and presence of internal heterogeneity of lymph node showed significant association with malignant lymph node status (P < 0.001 and P = 0.041, respectively). The ROC curve analysis revealed AUC of 0.703 for the largest short diameter of lymph node (P < 0.001), and AUC of the presence of internal heterogeneity was 0.630 (P < 0.001). In addition, our study showed that a total number of lymph nodes, regardless of size, (P = 0.022) acolon cancer lymph node involvement on CT.Multidisciplinary conferences (MDCs) play a major role in management and care of oncology patients. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a complex disease benefiting from multidisciplinary discussions to determine optimal patient management. A multitude of liver-directed locoregional therapies have emerged allowing for more options for treatment of HCC. A radiologist dedicated to HCC-MDC is an important member of the team contributing to patient care in multiple ways. The radiologist plays a key role in image interpretation guiding initial therapy discussions as well as interpreting post-treatment imaging following liver-directed therapy. Standardization of image interpretation can lead to more consistent treatment received by the patient as well as accurate assessment of transplant eligibility. The radiologist can facilitate this process using structured reporting that is also supported by stakeholders involved in interdisciplinary management of liver diseases. The Liver Imaging Reporting and Data System (LI-RADS), is a living document which offers a standardized reporting algorithm for consistent communication of radiologic findings for HCC screening and characterization of liver observations in patients at risk for HCC. The LI-RADS post-treatment algorithm (LR-TR algorithm) has been developed to standardize liver observations following liver-directed locoregional therapy. This review article focuses on the role of the radiologist at HCC-MDC and implementation of the LR-TR algorithm for improving workflow.
We demonstrate the first self-learning, context-sensitive, autonomous camera-guiding robot applicable to minimally invasive surgery. The majority of surgical robots nowadays are telemanipulators without autonomous capabilities. Autonomous systems have been developed for laparoscopic camera guidance, however following simple rules and not adapting their behavior to specific tasks, procedures, or surgeons.

The herein presented methodology allows different robot kinematics to perceive their environment, interpret it according to a knowledge base and perform context-aware actions. For training, twenty operations were conducted with human camera guidance by a single surgeon. Subsequently, we experimentally evaluated the cognitive robotic camera control. A VIKYEP system and a KUKA LWR 4 robot were trained on data from manual camera guidance after completion of the surgeon's learning curve. check details Second, only data from VIKY EP were used to train the LWR and finally data from training with the LWR were used to re-train the LWR.

The duration of each operation decreased with the robot's increasing experience from 1704s ± 244s to 1406s ± 112s, and 1197s. Camera guidance quality (good/neutral/poor) improved from 38.6/53.4/7.9 to 49.4/46.3/4.1% and 56.2/41.0/2.8%.

The cognitive camera robot improved its performance with experience, laying the foundation for a new generation of cognitive surgical robots that adapt to a surgeon's needs.

However, a large portion of the genome is dedicated to ncRNAs, which in turn represent a considerable amount of the transcriptome. ncRNAs are modulated on levels of type and amount whenever any physiological process occurs or as a response to external modulators. ncRNAs, typically forming complexes with other partners, are key molecules that influence diverse cellular processes. Based on the knowledge of mammalian biology, ncRNAs are known to regulate and control diverse trafficking pathways and cellular activities. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) notably have diverse and more regulatory roles than microRNAs. Expanding these studies on fish has derived the same conclusion with relevance to other species, including invertebrates, explored the potentials to harness such types of RNA to further understand the biology of such organisms, and opened gates for applying recent technologies, such as RNA interference and delivering micromolecules as microRNAs to living cells and possibly to target organs. These technologies should improve aquaculture productivity and fish health, as well as help understand fish biology.
The aim of this study is to determine whether patient age and procedure type are associated with duration of opioid use in pediatric patients undergoing ambulatory urologic procedures.

We retrospectively reviewed pediatric patients who underwent outpatient urologic procedures from 2013 to 2017. At postoperative visits, parents reported the number of days their child took opioid pain medication. Factors associated with duration of opioid use were evaluated using negative binomial regression models.

805 patients were included 320 infants (39.8%), 430 children (53.4%), and 55 adolescents (6.8%). Overall mean length of opioid use was 1.7 (± 2.6) days. On average, infants used opioids for the shortest duration 1.5 (± 2.3) days, followed by children 1.7 (± 2.5) days, and adolescents 3.1 (± 4.6) days. In adjusted models, adolescents used opioids for 85.2% longer (95% CI 13.1-161.8%; p < 0.001) than children and infants used opioids for 19.4% shorter duration (95% CI 0.4-34.7%; p = 0.05) than children. Each 1-year increase in age was associated with 6.1% increased duration of opioid use (95% CI 3.9-8.5%; p < 0.0001). Patients who underwent circumcision, hypospadias repair, and penile reconstruction took opioids for 75.9% (95% CI 42.6-117.1%; p < 0.001), 144.2% (95% CI 76.4-238.0%; p < 0.001), and 126.7% (95% CI 48.8-245.3%; p < 0.001) longer respectively than patients who underwent inguinal procedures.

Increasing age, circumcision, hypospadias repair, and penile reconstruction are associated with increased duration of opioid use.
Increasing age, circumcision, hypospadias repair, and penile reconstruction are associated with increased duration of opioid use.Due to the underlying disease and immunosuppressive treatment, pediatric patients with rheumatic diseases are at increased risk for (long distance) travel-related health problems. A pretravel comprehensive consultation is therefore strongly recommended. Whether a child with rheumatic disease is sufficiently fit for travel essentially depends on the disease activity, the age of the child and the intended travel destination. Depending on the level of immunosuppression, the risks for this patient group include (travel-related) infections and the possibility of disease activity flares. Of particular importance is adequate exposure prevention standard vaccinations should be updated and indications for travel vaccinations evaluated in advance of travelling. In this context, potential contraindications, especially for live vaccines, in the case of specific immunosuppressive treatment should be considered. In the event of travel to malaria endemic areas, the necessity for chemoprophylaxis or stand-by medication must be evaluated but caution is needed regarding potential drug interactions.
