Once upon a time, there was a beautiful little girl
named Ashley. She lived with her parent with her
parents in a cottage, far away from the city. On the
side, they also had a small farm, and an equally
small ranch. Thus, she should accompany her father
to deliver their harvested vegetables, eggs, and
wools three times a week.
However, Ashley couldn’t enjoy her job anymore. She
wanted to do something different; something that her
friends are doing. Attending birthday party is one
of them. Sadly, her father strict schedule couldn’t
let her do particularly anything other than
farmingㅡand occasionally playing with her German
Shepherd, Orange.
One morning, she suddenly yelped with her squeaky,
high pitched voice.
“I don’t want to go today. No!”
, there was her daddy had stood in front of her,
frowned.
“What do you mean, Ashley? Go to the bathroom and
we’ll go about fifteen minutes later.”
“No, daddy!”
For a minute, there was awkward silence going on.
Knew that he could do nothing, he was silently
leaving.
Ashley couldn’t be happier about it. She
smiled brightly as her small fingers traced window’s
frame. But her happiness didn’t last long. As soon
as she walked toward the door, her clock fell and
made a loud noise. She stopped for a while,
confused. “What’s wrong?”
The clock was given by her father as a
present on her 5th birthday. Her said that it must
be expensive, because the timber was really good.
Yet it had never been damaged since then. So it was
really strange thing to see. She had been looked for
mess she made when she bent down. Glad the timber
didn’t tear into pieces. The clock was still
working! She peeked her finger between those broken
glasses and touched the clock’s pointer.
She moved the long pointer two numbers
forward, and suddenly Orange disappeared. She moved
the pointer four numbers backward, and the clock get
back to its form. Ashley frowned.
“Is it a magic clock?”
She shook her head, thinking that it wasn’t
possible. “No, it can’t be.”
While Ashley was thinking about her clocks,
her father was facing a big problem. Since there was
nobody to check the truck often, the yields are lost
by half. Sure, it was bad for them, because they
might not have anything ‘till the day after
tomorrow. He was really sad.
Ashley took the clock down and smashed the
glass, so she could peek in again.
“Three hours.”
She had been looking through the window for some
minutes, when her father arrived. Even from a far,
she could see his emotion. His sadness. He looked
pale and unhappy to start with, so she closed her
eyes and caressed the clock.
“It was my fault.” She mumbled.
The girl had taken a deep breath before she
moved the pointer some hours, back to dawn. It did
fine for some minutes, but cracked halfway. She’s
trapped in Sunday, 10.20 AM, with a sad father, no
money, and smashed clocks.
She squeezed her dress nervously as her eyes
getting teary. She felt suppressed. Her life is such
a mess right now. Feel tired, she rest her head to
the wall and closed her eyes. A minute later, she
fell in a deep, deep sleep.
The girl opened her eyes in disgust because
of the excessive amount of sunshine she got. She
groaned as she stretched both of her arms. It was a
good morning to start with. She had been smiled
sheepishly for few minutes when a husky voice can be
heard.
“Hello, sweetheart. Are you ready for today’s
treasure hunt?”
His daughter’s smile is really pretty. He
couldn’t help but smile. “Let me sleep for a while.”
She begged, still with annoying, squeaky voice.
“We’ll go about fifteen minutes later. Take your
time.”
Even without looking back, he knew that she nodded
her head happily.
He will have went outside, when Ashley found
herself staring at the clock; amazed. It was a
dream. A nightmare. With a smile plastered on her
lips, she brought a hat with her and ran outside.
Little did she know, it was happened.
