Solitude seen by ladies together with gestational cancer: could expert help as well as customized details are the solution?
Existing cancer benchmark data sets for human sequencing data use germline variants, synthetic methods, or expensive validations, none of which are satisfactory for providing a large collection of true somatic variation across a whole genome. Here we propose a data set, Lineage derived Somatic Truth (LinST), of short somatic mutations in the HT115 colon cancer cell-line, that are validated using a known cell lineage that includes thousands of mutations and a high confidence region covering 2.7 gigabases per sample. This data article presents a compilation of mechanical properties of 630 multi-principal element alloys (MPEAs). Built upon recently published MPEA databases, this article includes updated records from previous reviews (with minor error corrections) along with new data from articles that were published since 2019. The extracted properties include reported composition, processing method, microstructure, density, hardness, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength (or maximum compression strength), elongation (or maximum compression strain), and Young's modulus. Additionally, descriptors (e.g. grain size) not included in previous reviews were also extracted for articles that reported them. The database is hosted and continually updated on an open data platform, Citrination. To promote interpretation, some data are graphically presented. We present an efficient hyperentanglement concentration protocol (hyper-ECP) for two-photon six-qubit systems in nonlocal partially hyperentangled Bell states with unknown parameters. In our scheme, we use two identical partially hyperentangled states which are simultaneously entangled in polarization and two different longitudinal momentum degrees of freedom (DOFs) to distill the maximally hyperentangled Bell state. The quantum nondemolition detectors based on the cross-Kerr nonlinearity are used to realize the parity checks of two-photon systems in three DOFs. The hyper-ECP can extract all the useful entanglement source, and the success probability can reach the theory limit with the help of iteration. All these advantages make our hyper-ECP useful in long-distance quantum communication in the future.Hyperlipidemia is a well-established risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Millions of people worldwide display mildly elevated levels of plasma lipids and cholesterol linked to diet and life-style. While the prothrombotic risk of severe hyperlipidemia has been established, the effects of moderate hyperlipidemia are less clear. Here, we studied platelet activation and arterial thrombus formation in Apoe-/- and Ldlr-/- mice fed a normal chow diet, resulting in mildly increased plasma cholesterol. In blood from both knockout mice, collagen-dependent thrombus and fibrin formation under flow were enhanced. These effects did not increase in severe hyperlipidemic blood from aged mice and upon feeding a high-fat diet (Apoe-/- mice). Bone marrow from wild-type or Ldlr-/- mice was transplanted into irradiated Ldlr-/- recipients. Markedly, thrombus formation was enhanced in blood from chimeric mice, suggesting that the hyperlipidemic environment altered the wild-type platelets, rather than the genetic modification. The platelet proteome revealed high similarity between the three genotypes, without clear indication for a common protein-based gain-of-function. The platelet lipidome revealed an altered lipid profile in mildly hyperlipidemic mice. In conclusion, in Apoe-/- and Ldlr-/- mice, modest elevation in plasma and platelet cholesterol increased platelet responsiveness in thrombus formation and ensuing fibrin formation, resulting in a prothrombotic phenotype.Tunneling in a many-body system appears as one of the novel implications of quantum physics, in which particles move in space under an otherwise classically-forbidden potential barrier. Here, we theoretically describe the quantum dynamics of the tunneling phenomenon of a few intricate bosonic clouds in a closed system of a two-dimensional symmetric double-well potential. We examine how the inclusion of the transverse direction, orthogonal to the junction of the double-well, can intervene in the tunneling dynamics of bosonic clouds. We use a well-known many-body numerical method, called the multiconfigurational time-dependent Hartree for bosons (MCTDHB) method. MCTDHB allows one to obtain accurately the time-dependent many-particle wavefunction of the bosons which in principle entails all the information of interest about the system under investigation. We analyze the tunneling dynamics by preparing the initial state of the bosonic clouds in the left well of the double-well either as the ground, longitudinally or transversely excited, or a vortex state. We unravel the detailed mechanism of the tunneling process by analyzing the evolution in time of the survival probability, depletion and fragmentation, and the many-particle position, momentum, and angular-momentum expectation values and their variances. As a general rule, all objects lose coherence while tunneling through the barrier and the states which include transverse excitations do so faster. In particular for the later states, we show that even when the transverse direction is seemingly frozen, prominent many-body dynamics in a two-dimensional bosonic Josephson junction occurs. Implications are briefly discussed.Hotspots constitute the major reservoir for residual malaria transmission, with higher malaria incidence than neighbouring areas, and therefore, have the potential to form the cornerstone for successful intervention strategies. Detection of malaria hotspots is hampered by their heterogenous spatial distribution, and the laborious nature and low sensitivity of the current methods used to assess transmission intensity. We adopt ecological theory underlying foraging in herbivorous insects to vector mosquito host seeking and modelling of fine-scale landscape features at the village level. The overall effect of environmental variables on the density of indoor mosquitoes, sporozoite infected mosquitoes, and malaria incidence, was determined using generalized linear models. Spatial analyses were used to identify hotspots for malaria incidence, as well as malaria vector density and associated sporozoite prevalence. We identify household occupancy and location as the main predictors of vector density, entomological inoculation rate and malaria incidence. We propose that the use of conventional vector control and malaria interventions, integrated with their intensified application targeting predicted hotspots, can be used to reduce malaria incidence in endemic and residual malaria settings. We numerically find values of four process input parameters, namely, the argon flow rate, the hydrogen flow rate, the powder feed rate, and the current, that yield the desired mean particles' temperature and the mean particle velocity (collectively called mean particles' characteristics, or MPCs) in an atmospheric plasma spray process just before the particles arrive at the substrate to be coated. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/gc376-sodium.html Previous studies have shown that the coating quality depends upon the MPCs. The process is simulated by using the software, LAVA-P-3D, that provides MPCs close to their experimental values. Thus, numerical rather than physical experiments are conducted. We first use the design of experiments to characterize the sensitivity of the MPCs to process parameters. We then identify relationships between the significant input parameters and the MPCs by using two methods, namely, the least squares regression and the response surface methodology (RSM). Finally, we employ an optimization algorithm in conjunction with the weighted sum method to find optimum values of the process input variables to achieve desired values of the MPCs. The effects of weights assigned to the objective functions for the temperature and the velocity, and the difference in using the regression and the RSM model have been studied. It is found that these values of the process parameters provide MPCs within 5% of their desired values. This methodology is applicable to other coating processes and fabrication technologies such as hot forging, machining and casting.Muscle fibers are the largest cells in the body, and one of its few syncytia. Individual cell sizes are variable and adaptable, but what governs cell size has been unclear. We find that muscle fibers are DNA scarce compared to other cells, and that the nuclear number (N) adheres to the relationship N = aVb where V is the cytoplasmic volume. N invariably scales sublinearly to V (b  less then  1), making larger cells even more DNA scarce. N scales linearly to cell surface in adult humans, in adult and developing mice, and in mice with genetically reduced N, but in the latter the relationship eventually fails when they reach adulthood with extremely large myonuclear domains. Another exception is denervation-atrophy where nuclei are not eliminated. In conclusion, scaling exponents are remarkably similar across species, developmental stages and experimental conditions, suggesting an underlying scaling law where DNA-content functions as a limiter of muscle cell size.Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a perplexing condition characterized by a broad and diverse range of neuropathology and psychopathology. While there are no agreed upon or validated clinical criteria for CTE, case series of CTE have described a wide range of neuropsychiatric symptoms that have been attributed to repetitive traumatic brain injuries (rTBI). However, the direct links between the psychopathology of psychiatric and neurological conditions from rTBI to CTE remains poorly understood. Prior studies suggest that repetitive cerebral injuries are associated with damage to neural circuitry involved in emotional and memory processes, but these studies do not offer longitudinal assessments that prove causation. More recent studies on novel targets, such as transmission of misfolded proteins, as well as newly advanced non-invasive imaging techniques may offer more direct evidence of the pathogenesis of CTE by tracing the progression of pathology and display of related behavioral impairments. Understanding this interface in the context of rTBI can play an important role in future approaches to the definition, assessment, prevention, and treatment of CTE and mental illnesses.A Correction to this paper has been published https//doi.org/10.1038/s41746-020-00365-5.In the present work, culture-based and culture-independent investigations were performed to determine the microbiota structure of the coelomic fluid of Mediterranean sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus individuals collected from two distinct geographical sites neighboring a high-density population bay and a nature reserve, respectively. Next Generation Sequencing analysis of 16S rRNA gene (rDNA) showed that members of the Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Fusobacteria phyla, which have been previously reported to be commonly retrieved from marine invertebrates, dominate the overall population of microorganisms colonizing this liquid tissue, with minority bacterial genera exhibiting remarkable differences among individuals. Our results showed that there is a correlation between microbiota structure and geographical location of the echinoderm collection site, highlighting over-representation of metagenomic functions related to amino acid and bioactive peptides metabolism in specimens inhabiting the nature reserve.
