How To Get More Results From Your Best Double Stroller
How to Choose the Best Double Stroller

If you're looking for a double stroller there are a variety of options. To help you choose the best one for your family, we talked to child development expert and mom Katie Billingsley.

It is recommended to choose a stroller that is easy to fold, push and carry. And consider a model that's versatile enough to accommodate two car seats for infants or a toddler along with an adult rider board.

Safety

If you want to keep your kids safe while walking make sure you choose a double stroller with features like all-terrain tires and a brake operated by hand. These wheels and brakes allow you to navigate trails and gravel without your children falling or rolling. The best double strollers offer plenty of storage space for gear and kid-sized essentials like snacks and toys.

The first step in choosing the right double stroller is to know the age of your children and how far apart they are. A majority of double strollers are designed to accommodate one child seat, but the ones are available in various configurations so that you can pick the type of seating that is most suitable for your children and your lifestyle.

The classic doubles are great for children of similar age who are keen to interact. Some options have a more double-decker design, allowing the user to place one of the seats above the other or even attach a rider board to older siblings. Newborns can either be snuggled in a bassinet connected to the frame or in an attachment that lets you look at your baby. If you are expecting twins or have twins, then a twin stroller is the best choice.

Look for a double-wheeled stroller that can handle off-road terrain and even hiking. Many of these strollers were developed with active parents and their children in mind. They come with features that let you take them on any trip, no regardless of how challenging or difficult the climbs are.

The best double strollers are equipped with clever features that aid in navigation in difficult terrain and bad weather. For instance, this jogging stroller includes a wrist loop for your child so you're sure they're secure when running downhill or at faster speeds. It also has a canopy that covers the entire area and has ventilation to ensure your children stay comfortable during the summer heat.

If you're looking for a light compact double stroller look at this model from Joovy. It weighs less than 23 pounds., making it ideal for air travel and storage in trunks or overhead compartments. It also has a large storage basket and an easy-to-use one-step parking brake.

Seating

In double pushchair to the massive strollers of old these double strollers are sleek and can accommodate a variety of configurations that can be adapted to families. Some work as traditional side-by-side strollers while others--such as the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double Stroller - function as a base that car seats, toddler seats or bassinets click into. They are available in various widths and weight limits to fit infants and children up to kindergarten.

A good double stroller will be easy to fold and maneuver, as well as allowing you to adjust the height of your handlebar to ensure that you feel comfortable throughout your outings. A well-designed handlebar should be comfortable to grip, and it should invite you to walk with proper form (ask parents for advice on this). It should have a range of storage options to accommodate everything your children will require.

If your twins have a similar age and are in the same age group, a tandem stroller might be the ideal option for your family. The seats of these models are placed together, allowing you to engage with both of them and keep an eye on them at the same time. They also recline independently, so that one child can nap while the other is awake and ready to go.

The disadvantage of a twin stroller is that it can be larger than a single-occupant model which makes it difficult to maneuver around the aisles of shops, sidewalks and narrow doorways. For certain families, however the benefits are well worth the extra effort and size.

If you're looking for a compact double-stroller, then the UPPAbaby V2 Double is an excellent alternative. Its shock absorption, sleek design, and capacity for two infant car seats - plus an optional running board for older children -- make it a great choice for city living.

A wagon-style double stroller, such as the Delta Children LX Stroller Side-by-Side is another alternative. This bare-bones model offers a lot of seating space and storage space, along with sturdy wheels that can handle any terrain. It also comes with a canopy that has 50+ SPF and adjustable handlebars. Some parents complain that the seats are too low and don't recline completely flat, making it hard for small children to reach their food trays or to relax.

Simple to use

Double strollers are often an investment that will use for many years. When you are shopping for a double stroller, make sure it is easy to use and clean. Luckily, the most effective double strollers are designed to be as user-friendly as they can and include a variety of useful features for parents.

To start, all the strollers we tested fold easily and compactly (with only one hand!). They are light and ideal for traveling. A lot of them fit into the majority of trunks and are gate-checked on airplanes. In addition, the majority of our testers found that their strollers folded down to a smaller size than the single seat models, and some even had a carry strap for convenient carrying.

If you're looking for a versatile double stroller that can grow with your family, look no further than the Valco Snap Duo Trend. This side-byside stroller is compatible with infant car seats as well as other accessories. It can be used from birth to preschool age. Each seat has five-point harnesses, a large canopy and ample sun protection.

The Joovy Twin Roo is another option that is highly praised. This stroller is lightweight and incredibly compact, measuring just 22 pounds and 26 inches wide when folded. The front seat reclines almost to a flat position, and the back seat can be adjusted to suit every child. There's a large storage bin and an easy, one-step connected parking brake which makes this stroller easy to maneuver and use.

The only negatives of the Joovy Twin Roo were minor and specific to the model in question. Kerry states that the packaging was enjoyable and innovative, but it was also packaged in five boxes that can be a hassle to lug around. She also found the Genuis magnetic clasp to be a bit clunky, and it took her some time before she was able to master it. In the end, though she was extremely pleased with her stroller and would definitely recommend it.

Storage

Strollers come in all sizes and shapes, ranging from tandem doubles that are side-by-side to (single-file seating) styles, and a lot allow you to modify your setup with a bassinet, or car seat attachment. Some come with rider boards designed for older kids. However, not all of them are made equal. Some are sleek and easy to use, whereas others are bulky, heavy and difficult to fold or stow.

If you're looking to purchase a light double stroller, check out the Joovy Caboose Ultralight Graphite. It was the lightest option in our tests, weighing close to 23 pounds. It is also easy to fold, yet it has all the features parents need to have a great time out with two kids.

The Vista v2 double by UPPAbaby is another model that our testers loved. They were particularly impressed by its sleek design and easy-to-use. It can accommodate two infant car seats, a toddler's seat and a bassinet, with no adapters required. The rear seat can be removed to make it a quad or triple stroller. It comes with a huge basket for storage, and can be upgraded by adding a parent organizer and all-terrain tires as well as storage bags for the sides.

Billingsley states that the best double stroller to use for toddlers is one with various options for customization. This includes a seat or bassinet that can be removed. Toddlers are typically limited in their endurance and strollers that have an integrated bassinet can give them a safe space for them to nap. The expert says that a double stroller should also have a great harness and recline position and plenty of storage space for toys and snacks.

The ZOE Twin+ is a popular choice for parents due to its light weight and flexibility. It's airline gate-check-friendly it can be accessed through all doors (without taking off the front wheels), and can expand into a triple or quad stroller with an added tandem seat. Its nearly flat, independently reclined seats, sun canopy with extra-long lengths and adjustable footrests are additional highlights, while its spacious underseat storage area and the inclusion of parent and child cup holders round out the impressive set of features. The only downside according to Taylor, is that it lacks a a small profile when folded, and could be difficult to carry.
