We would like to report the eco-friendly synthesis of reduced graphene oxide using aqueous extract of Acorus calamus (rhizome), dried fruit and seed parts of Terminalia bellirica, Helicteres isora and Quercus infectoria and the whole shell part of Turbinella pyrum by simple steam bath technique. The structural and morphological characteristics of prepared reduced graphene oxides were determined by UV-Visible spectroscopy, Fourier Transform Infra-Red spectroscopy (FTIR), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM) and Raman spectroscopy. The Surface Plasmon Resonance at 260-280 nm ensured the reduced graphene oxide formation. The antibacterial efficacy of synthesized reduced graphene oxide was evaluated against both gram-positive and gram-negative pathogens such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Salmonella paratyphi and Escherichia coli. Among the selected samples Quercus infectoria mediated reduced graphene oxide showed excellent inhibition efficiency (27 and 28 mm) against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, respectively as compared to the standard Gentamycin (29 mm). Quercus infectoria showed significant inhibition of 22 mm and moderate inhibition of 18 mm against Bacillus subtilis and Salmonella paratyphi, respectively. The results suggest selected plants and chank shell-mediated reduced graphene oxide as potential antibacterial agents for various therapeutic applications. In 2019, the SARS-CoV-2 beta-coronavirus, which caused a pandemic of severe acute respiratory viral infection COVID-19 (from COronaVIrus Disease 2019), was first detected. The susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 and the nature of the course of the COVID-19 clinical picture are determined by many factors, including genetic characteristics of both the pathogen and the human. The SARS-CoV-2 genome has a similarity to the genomes of other coronaviruses, which are pathogenic for humans and cause a severe course of infection 79% to the SARS-CoV genome and 50% to the MERS-CoV genome. The most significant differences between SARS-CoV-2 and other coronaviruses are recorded in the structure of the gene of the S protein, a key protein responsible for the virus binding to the receptor of the host organism cells. In particular, substitutions in the S protein of SARS-CoV-2, leading to the formation of the furin cleavage site that is absent in other SARS-like coronaviruses, were identified, which may explain the high pathogenicityThe expression level of genes that are important for the formation of the susceptibility to SARS-CoV-2 is affected by epigenetic modifications, comorbidities at the time of infection, taking medications, and bad habits.Infectious or contagious diseases can be transmitted from one person to another through social contact networks. In today's interconnected global society, such contagion processes can cause global public health hazards, as exemplified by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. It is therefore of great practical relevance to investigate the network transmission of contagious diseases from the perspective of statistical inference. An important and widely studied boundary condition for contagion processes over networks is the so-called epidemic threshold. The epidemic threshold plays a key role in determining whether a pathogen introduced into a social contact network will cause an epidemic or die out. In this paper, we investigate epidemic thresholds from the perspective of statistical network inference. We identify two major challenges that are caused by high computational and sampling complexity of the epidemic threshold. We develop two statistically accurate and computationally efficient approximation techniques to address these issues under the Chung-Lu modeling framework. The second approximation, which is based on random walk sampling, further enjoys the advantage of requiring data on a vanishingly small fraction of nodes. Cepharanthine in vivo We establish theoretical guarantees for both methods and demonstrate their empirical superiority. The operative and non-technical skills exposure of urology trainees has reduced due to a number of factors, including the European Working Time Directive, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Simulation-based education (SBE) is an innovative addition to clinical experience which can begin to address the skills-based learning deficiency in order to help trainees meet their curriculum requirements and optimise the exposure required for a trainee to become a competent general urology consultant. Surgical simulation is an effective training tool but has a complex implementation process, requiring considerable planning tailored to specific educational targets, to ensure it is sustainable and reproducible. Methodology from the field of implementation science offers an invaluable approach to design an effective simulation-based training adjunct, as exemplified by the example of the UK Urology Simulation Boot Camp (USBC), a comprehensive training course which incorporates core technical and non-technical skills based on the current Joint Committee on Surgical Training (JCST) urological training curriculum to equip newly appointed urology trainees to work as competent junior registrars. Delivered annually in Leeds since 2015, the course has had excellent feedback and results in improving the urological knowledge of trainees, as well as increases in trainees' confidence. This paper will provide a summary of how the course was designed, delivered, reproduced, sustained and evaluated. Its success is demonstrated by its incorporation into the UK urology training programme, and since 2018, it is now recommended to all new urology residents in the UK. The course implementation model would be applicable to other surgical specialties.Sugar beet is an important crop in the advent of COVID 19 as it has a high potential for ethanol production in less growth span. The life cycle of this crop is of five to six months with a root yield of 60-80 t ha-1 and sugar content of 15-17%. Sugar beet is known as a temperate crop of short duration grown in the month of September to October and harvested in April and May, but successful efforts have been made in establishing this crop for Indian agro-climatic conditions. India stands to gain from capitalizing on the potential of sugar beet for sugar, ethanol, and fodder. It offers the increment in the farmer's income especially hill farmers with respect to seed production of this crop in India The crop has been bestowed with a natural endowment of reclaiming saline soils which will help in cultivating the Indian saline areas. The crop is full of carbohydrates content which is being used for multiple purposes giving value addition to the crop. The green top and, wet and dry pulp are a good source of fodder es and material sciences in times to come.Carfilzomib is a second-in class Proteosome Inhibitor and has been approved for Relapsed/Refractory Multiple Myeloma (RRMM). We retrospectively retrieved and analyzed data of KPd combination both biweekly and weekly regimens at our centre from 1 st August 2017 and 31 st May 2020. Sixty-nine patients were treated with KPd with median age of 58 years. Median prior lines of chemotherapy were 2(1-15). Twenty-eight (40.5%) patients underwent autoSCT. Median no. of cycles was 4(1-12) and 3(1-13) with median time to response of 4(2-12) and 2(2-6) months in biweekly and once weekly regimen cohorts respectively. At last follow-up, overall response rate (ORR) was 65.2%CR-n = 10 (14.5%), VGPR-n = 19 (27.5%), PR-n = 16 (23.2%) with n = 13(18.8%) patients had PD and relapse was observed in n = 24(34.8%). Thirty (43.4%) patients received maintenance therapy n = 21(70%) or autoSCT n = 9(30%). Common toxicities were anemia n = 11(15.9 %), thrombocytopenia (n = 15(21.7%) and neutropenia (n = 16 (23.2%), hypertension n = 28(40.5%), peripheral neuropathy (grade1/2) n = 15(21.7%), infections [n = 18(26%) bacterial [n = 9(13%),viral n = 7(10.1%), fungal n = 8(11.6%)]. At a median follow-up of 18 months, the estimated median PFS was 11.3 months (95%C.I. 8.3- 14.2) whereas the estimated median OS was 28 months (95%C.I. 20.4-35.5) for the entire cohort. Mortality rate of 2.5% and 10% in two cohorts respectively. Commonest cause of death was PD and sepsis. KPD is a well-tolerated regimen for RRMM, which can be a bridge to ASCT, however with significant side effects. This paper models and predicts how the strengthening of intellectual property (IP) protection will impact R&D in developing economies. International agreements such as TRIPs and free trade agreements are enhancing the level of international control on IP. This is changing deeply the R&D environment in developing economies by restraining illegal channels of knowledge accumulation such as imitation, reverse engineering and piracy. An asymmetric and non-cooperative two-stage (R&D-Production) game is proposed to model a developing market where two local firms compete with a more innovative foreign firm. Equilibrium R&D expenditures and profits of the competing firms are compared for different levels of market technology, technological gaps and IP protection. The proposed model shows clearly that a stringent enforcement of IP agreements will dramatically decrease the innovative abilities of developing economies especially in high technological sectors. The maintain and increase of their R&D skills will not be possible without a reduction of their technological gap and strong incentives to initiate regulatory (or permit tacit) R&D cooperation between local firms.Carotid body tumors, also known as paragangliomas or chemodectomas, are rare tumors. They are mostly benign slow-growing tumors arising from neural crest cells, but can give rise to complications because of their location and close relation to carotid vessels and cranial nerves. A 40-year male patient diagnosed with a carotid body tumor is discussed along with a review of cranial nerve complications associated with the management of carotid body tumors. This case highlights the complete recovery after a temporary hypoglossal nerve deficit following surgery. Another important aspect is that syncopal attacks might occur in carotid body tumors and early surgery is required to prevent complications.
Pulmonary aspergilloma is the formation of saprophytic colonies of fungus in pre-existing pulmonary cavities. They may cause life-threatening haemoptysis. As medical treatment often fails, surgery is the mainstay of treatment in symptomatic patients. Earlier studies had reported high levels of mortality and morbidity with surgery while more recent studies have shown better results. Hence, being in a large tertiary care centre in India, we decided to analyse the details of our own experience in the surgical management of pulmonary aspergilloma.

Details of all adult patients treated surgically for pulmonary aspergilloma, between the years 2009 and 2020, maintained in a live database in our institute, were retrieved and analysed.

There were 102 patients in the study. The average age was 40years. There was a male (M F, 31) and right side preponderance. Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) was the commonest cause for cavities in which aspergilloma developed as identified in 84 (82%) patients and diabetes mellitus, the commonest comorbidity present in 28 (27.
