These results indicate that SnO2 and TiO2 PNFDs have good potential for commercialization and use as toxic gas and photon sensors in daily lives.Transition metal orthovanadates are emerging 2D materials for promising electrochemical energy storage applications. Facile hydrothermal method for nanocrystalline indium vanadate (InVO4) semiconducting materials' fabrication is economical because of its direct chemical synthesis. X-ray diffraction studies, field emission scanning electron microscope (SEM) images, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and photoelectron X-ray spectrum are used to describe the semiconductor materials as synthesized. InVO4 microspheres have attracted a lot of attention in the energy and environmental sector. These microsphere-derived semiconductor materials are recognized to offer the advantages of their large surface area, tunable pore sizes, enhanced light absorption, efficient carrier (electron-hole) separation, superior electronic and optical behavior, and high durability. From the results of SEM and TEM, InVO4 shows a microsphere construction with a mixture of nanosized particles. Diffuse reflectance UV-visible measurements are used to determine the bandgap, and it is found to be 2.1 eV for InVO4. The electrochemical analysis reveals a superior performance of the pseudocapacitor with hydrothermally derived microspheres of InVO4. Alongside an improved pseudocapacity, developed after 4000 cycles, it has excellent cycling stability with a retention of ≈94% of its original specific capacitance efficiency.Thrombospondin type I domain-containing 7A (THSD7A), is a specific autoantigen of adult idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN), whose circulating antibody (THSD7A-AB) represents a promising biomarker for diagnosis of IMN. The objective of this meta-analysis is to investigate the diagnostic efficiency of THSD7A-AB for IMN. After rigorous data extraction, quality assessment, and data analysis, 10 articles (4545 patients) are included. For IMN, the summary sensitivity is 4% (2-7%), and the specificity is 99% (98-100%). The summary positive likelihood ratio (PLR) and negative likelihood ratio (NLR) are 5.40 (2.40-11.90) and 0.97 (0.95-0.99), respectively. The diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) is 6.00 (2.00-12.00). The area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) is 0.78 (0.74-0.81). For M-type phospholipase A2 receptor (PLA2R)-negative IMN, the summary sensitivity is 8% (6-10%), specificity is 100% (99-100%). The summary PLR and NLR are 15.80 (5.70-44.00) and 0.93 (0.91-0.95), respectively. The DOR is 17.00 (6.00-48.00). The AUC is 0.99 (0.98-1.00). THSD7A-AB has higher diagnostic value in PLA2R-negative patients than in IMN patients. These results suggest that THSD7A-AB could possibly be applied as an auxiliary non-invasive diagnostic method for PLA2R-negative IMN.Sports medicine surgeons sometimes encounter morbidly obese athletes with femoroacetabular impingement, such as Sumo wrestlers. In such cases, traditional arthroscopic equipment will not reach the joint. This case report describes the use of a cystoscope to perform arthroscopy to treat borderline developmental dysplasia of the hip combined with cam impingement in a morbidly obese athlete. The cystoscope enables hip arthroscopy to be performed when traditional instruments are not of sufficient length to access the hip and/or an extra-long arthroscope is not available. The use of the cystoscope provides a practical, feasible and minimally invasive option to treat non-arthritic intraarticular hip pathology in the morbidly obese or extremely muscular athletes.Several studies have demonstrated that patients have significant impairments in understanding their injury and appropriate course of management in orthopedic surgery. The purpose of this investigation is to determine if patients are able to obtain a fundamental understanding of the requisite care associated with hip arthroscopy. Any patient who elected to have hip arthroscopy was prospectively recruited to participate in the study. All patients were told they would be asked to complete a questionnaire about their surgery and post-operative instructions. The answers to each question of the questionnaire they would receive at the first post-operative visit were verbally given to each patient during the pre-operative visit. They were also given a post-operative instruction sheet on the day of surgery that contained answers to the questionnaire. At the first post-operative visit, all patients were then asked to complete a multiple-choice questionnaire prior to seeing the surgeon. A total of 56 patients (14 males, 42 females) were enrolled. All patients reported they had read the post-operative instruction sheet. The average number of correct answers was 6.5 ± 0.6 (95% CI 6 - 7) out of 11 questions (59% correct response rate ±18% [95% CI 52 - 66%]). Although we made significant pre-operative oral and written efforts to help patients achieve an elementary level of health literacy regarding their forthcoming hip arthroscopy, many patients did not achieve satisfactory comprehension. New ways (through video, simplified cartoons or verbal explanations) must be considered in educating patients concerning surgical procedures to increase comprehension and health literacy.Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a debilitating disease that can cause deformity and collapse of the femoral head, thus leading to the development of degenerative joint disease that can incapacitate the patient with pain and reduction in hip mobility. This study aims to determine the safety and efficacy of tantalum rod insertion in the treatment of ONFH with a minimum follow-up period of 1 year. A multi-database search was performed according to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. Data from studies assessing the clinical and radiological outcomes as well as complications of tantalum rod insertion in the treatment of ONFH with a minimum follow-up period of 1 year were extracted and analyzed. Ten studies were included in this meta-analysis, consisting of 550 hips. There was a statistically significant increase in HHS (MD = 30.35, 95% CI 20.60-40.10, P  less then  0.001) at final follow-up versus pre-operative scores. However, more studies are needed to investigate and identify the most appropriate patients who would benefit most and the synergistic effect brought on by the use of complementary biological augmentation of bone grafting or stem cells with tantalum rods.The rapid growth of hip preservation has left surgeons following trends based on limited, or even anecdotal, evidence in certain circumstances. A consensus as well as high-level research on how best to manage the iliopsoas is lacking. Arthroscopic treatment of the iliopsoas may be an example of how treatment patterns and trends can shift with limited evidence-based medicine. A cross-sectional survey of 16 high-volume hip preservation surgeons was conducted to gather perspectives and opinions on how and why the arthroscopic management of the iliopsoas has evolved. All participants completed the survey in person and anonymously. Of the surveyed surgeons, the mean career hip preservation volume was 1031.25 cases (250 to >3000) with an average annual volume of 162.08 cases (75-400). Of the surveyed surgeons' caseload, 16.1% involved an iliopsoas tenotomy or fractional lengthening mostly commonly (75%) for recalcitrant internal snapping. Labral repair/reconstruction is performed concomitantly 87.5% of the time. Seventy-five percent of surgeons indicated a decrease in frequency of iliopsoas tenotomy over the course of their practice most commonly (56.3%) because of hip flexion weakness; however, 0% of the surgeons could cite literature evidence to support their practices. Perceived poor outcomes in individual practices was the most common (56.3%) source of this complication. Surgeons were less inclined to perform tenotomy on patients with borderline dysplasia (75%) or ligamentous laxity (56.3%).Capsulotomy in different modalities has been used to provide adequate exposure to access both the central and peripheral compartment in hip arthroscopy. Even though the hip joint has inherent bony stability, soft tissue restraints may be important in patients with ligaments hyperlaxity or in some cases with diminished bony stability. Biomechanical studies and clinical outcomes have shown the relevant role of the capsule in hip stability, mainly the role of the iliofemoral ligament. Although is not very common, iatrogenic post-arthroscopy subluxation and dislocation have been reported and many surgeons are concerned about the role aggressive capsulotomy or capsulectomy in this situation, thus capsule repair has become very popular. link2 We present a novel technique to access the hip without cutting the iliofemoral ligament. With this technique we can obtain adequate arthroscopic access to the hip joint in order to treat adequately the central compartment pathologies reducing the risk of iatrogenic post-operative hip instability.The purpose of this article is to report the inter- and intra-observer reliability of a computerized objective technique to quantify patient-specific acetabular morphology. link3 We describe the use of and provide the software code for a technique to better define the location and magnitude of acetabular pathology. We have developed software code that allows the end user to obtain detailed measurements of the acetabulum using traditional computed tomography data. We provide the code and detailed instructions on how to use it in this article. The methodology was validated by having an unbiased observer (that was not involved in this project but has been trained in this software measurement methodology) to perform the entire acquisition, reconstruction and analysis procedure and compare their measurements to the measurements of one of the authors.
