Slot Rankings - How Wide Receivers Score More Touchdowns in the Slot

Slot machines function the same way for every spin, so you won't find any secret hacks to beat them. However there are a few things you can be aware of to maximize your winning potential.

Check out the RTP of a game before you start. This number will tell you how many players could win over the course of time.

Slot Efficiency

The goal of slot efficiency is of increasing the number of slot switches that can be made while not violating the constraints that are predefined. These constraints typically include the minimal operational delay (usually expressed in terms of scheduling delays), fairness and equity, access and competition, environmental objectives and many more. The process of distributing slots is a complex one and optimizing it to achieve the desired performance metrics requires careful analysis of all factors at play.

In general, the process starts by identifying the types of requests that are to be prioritized based on established historical precedence. Once the type is identified, the slot allocation model is then employed to reduce the delay criteria. However, numerous research gaps have been identified related to the optimization of slot scheduling models, particularly when it comes to trying to balance fairness and efficiency.

A popular method of prioritizing slot assignments is the ABC (assigned by velocity) strategy that gathers information about the history of items and then determines a velocity group. Items with the highest velocity receive the best slots, whereas smaller velocity items are placed farther back in the warehouse.

Another key element of slot efficiency is the distance factor, which determines the amount of space that needs to be allotted to support the pick-to-ship process. The calculation takes into consideration the velocity group of items, as along with their rack placements and the characteristics of handling equipment.

To improve the efficiency of slot machines In order to increase the efficiency of slot machines, it is important to consider the cost of the change to a particular slot. Managers can determine the costs of a typical change to a slot and the impact it has on other aspects of slot efficiency like velocity by analyzing a typical slot.

After spending a few months validating the data, and re-evaluating the recommendations, the casino started using the software more frequently. The gaming operations team estimates that they will save between 10 and 12 hours each month with their traditional analysis, which doesn't include the time spent reviewing customer-rated data or preparing and analyzing the latest strategies that can be implemented.

The team was able using the new recommendations provided by SRE to implement a variety of game changes that resulted in more the amount of money players earn. Particularly, Dancing Drums Explosion and Twinstar Wave XL both by Scientific Games, saw big increases in the premium lease and WAP rankings. The casino also was able to shift its budget from marketing to other costs and improve floor performance.

Perimeter Efficiency

We all know wide receivers score more touchdowns when they're able to hit perimeter targets rather than slot targets. This is because they are generally targeted downfield and usually are in one-on-one coverage. What might surprise some, however, is that the top five slot players and the rest of the group score differently on targets in the perimeter.

Mike Evans, Amari cooper, Tyler Lockett, and Michael Gallup were the top five scorers in the slot on perimeter routes among the 66 wide-receivers who saw at least 40 targets during each of the previous two seasons. The bottom of this list is dominated by players who are more possession-based such as Chris Godwin and Diontae Johnston. The two latter two are likely to see a boost in their targets this season if the Bucs can move them into the slot more frequently, but they'll need to improve their scoring on the perimeter to maintain their high standards.

Speedy wideouts are among the biggest benefit of moving into the slot, since they have an easier time getting open downfield in the event that their route isn't blocked by a cornerback or linebacker. Corey Coleman is the only wide receiver who's not a speedy wideout but would benefit from more slot time. He's a good player for intermediate and short routes.

Rain Bet , KJ Hamler and other possession-based receivers are at the low end of the list. They're better on intermediate and short routes, rather than deep zones. Jeudy, who will be the Rams principal slot receiver this year is a sleeper selection. Courtland Cooper and Amari Sutton are expected to play a larger role in downfield targets. Hamler is expected to be a natural on short-to-mid-long and intermediate routes, since that's where he excelled while playing for the Bills in 2021. Hamler could be a great replacement for the former wideout Jordan Matthews.

Percentage of Snaps in the Slot

The amount of snaps a receiver makes in the slot can be a good indicator for their ability to run routes that are deep. However, it's not always an accurate representation of a receiver's abilities because some receivers excel in the slot but can't play deep and vice versa.

Alshon Jeffrey, for instance leads the league in targets received per game (4.8) however, he is only 6th in slot receiving scores (58.5). This is due to the fact that the majority of his targets been thrown from the outside and it's hard to gain a first down in a wide-open deep line in this setting.

Some receivers are better playing inside, while others struggle to do so on the outside. Robby Anderson, for instance, was given 978 snaps by the Panthers this season. He completed 74% of his route in the slot, as opposed to just 26% on boundaries routes. This is an enormous difference that shows how much more efficient Robby Anderson is when aligned to the slot.

Furthermore there is the Buccaneers' Chris Godwin lines up inside on most of his passing downs, and has a top five slot receiving score (58.5). He also played 51% his perimeter routes and is a pro in one-on-1 coverage.

Speed receivers are usually more efficient when they line up inside, because they are able to be targeted down the field and frequently find themselves with one-on-one coverage. There are names like Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, and Julio Jones in our top five.

On the flip side there are some excellent slot cornerbacks such as McDuffie and Moore in this group. McDuffie leads the NFL in forced fumbles having seven, while Moore has the highest tackle-stopping efficiency (-3.5) on this list. Spagnuolo maximized McDuffie's skills by using his slot for nickel and dime packages, and then shifting him to the outside for base defense. Moore's ability in stopping big run plays is a major benefit when playing the slot.

Percentage of Snaps Outside

While top NFL receivers such as Golden Tate, Larry Fitzgerald, and Baldwin excel on the perimeter however, their slot counterparts are just as good. As a group wide receivers who have a high slot receiver grade score touchdowns at roughly the same rate as players who are on the outside. This is mainly because quarterbacks are more consistent in their target distribution when they throw to outside and slot wide receivers than other inside options like tight ends and backfield passers.

It's also interesting to see a receiver like CeeDee Lamb on this list in 2022 as he plays the slot in three WR sets and flanker in two of the sets. In fact Lamb is running a greater number of slot routes than the majority of players on this list. This is an excellent way to gain matchup advantages for your team. It also helps to explain why Lamb is the highest-graded receiver in our system.

He also plays at the X-position and makes huge plays outside. Lamb isn't as fast as the other players on this list but he is still an elite wide receiver that is well-suited to the Cowboys scheme.

Mecole Hardman is a further example of a player who's capable of putting up big numbers on both targets. He has a very high slot receiver rating and is among the league's top players at catching back-shoulder throws, but he's also a great contested-catch threat.

Another player on this list who's an authentic slot specialist is Baltimore's Jalen Hilton who has played in the slot on 85.7 percent of his defensive snaps this season. He has the third-lowest EPA for targets and the fifth-highest EPA for runs stopped among cornerbacks in the slot. This makes him a valuable member of his team's defensive unit. He has struggled to stop passes from outside, and his EPA against this kind of target is negative. This is due to him playing with safety and linebackers who cannot compete with Hilton's speed, size or ability to run routes.
