Carpal tunnel is an important anatomical passage that carries the flexor tendons into the hand. As there is still no consensus about its contents among the anatomy textbooks, the main purpose of this study was to identify the relations of the flexor carpi radialis tendon in the carpal tunnel.

This retrospective study was completed in April 2018 at authors? university?s hospital. Seventy-four female and 44 male patients? wrists without any pathology were examined by using magnetic resonance images. The series of axial sections where the pisiform exist were evaluated by using T1 sequence and the structures in the carpal tunnel were identified.

Results of this study showed that the tendon of the flexor carpi radialis was found above the flexor retinaculum within its own septal compartment in all patients.

According to the results, tendon of flexor carpi radialis crosses the wrist region superficial to the carpal tunnel. Thus, tendon of flexor carpi radialis doesn?t have any effect on the carpal tunnel syndrome. Further cadaveric studies would be useful for identifying the contents of the carpal tunnel and morphological organization of the wrist. COVID-19 syndrome due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a currently challenging situation ongoing Worldwide. Since the current pandemic of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is a great concern for everybody in the World, the frequently asked question is how and when the COVID-19 process will be concluded. The aim of this paper is to propose hypotheses in order to answer this essential question. As recently demonstrated, SARS-CoV-2 RNAs can be reverse-transcribed and integrated into the human genome. Our main hypothesis is that the ultimate aim of the SARS-CoV-2 virus is the incorporation to human genome and being an element of the intestinal virobiota.

We propose that the SARS-CoV-2 genomic incorporation to be a part of human virobiota is essentially based on three pathobiological phases which are called as the "induction", "consolidation" and "maintenance phases". The phase of "recurrence" complicate any of these three disease phases based on the viral load, exposure time, and more contagious strains and/or mutants. We have performed the "Random Walk Model" in order to predict the community transmission kinetics of the virus.

Chimerism-mediated immunotherapy at the individual and community level with the help of vaccination seems to be the only option for ending the COVID-19 process. After the SARS-CoV-2 virus integrated into the human genome via the induction, consolidation and maintenance phases as an element of intestinal virobiota, the chimerism would be concluded. The "viral load", the "genomic strain of the SARS-CoV-2" and "host immune reaction against the SARS-CoV-2" are the hallmarks of this long journey.

The aim of this study was to examine the prevalence of surgery for post-prostatectomy incontinence (PI) following minimally invasive surgery compared to conventional open surgery for prostate cancer.

This retrospective cohort study used the Florida State Ambulatory Surgery and State Inpatient Databases, 2008 to 2010, RP patients were identified using ICD-9/10 procedure codes and among this cohort PI was identified also using ICD-9/10 codes. Surgical approaches included Minimally invasive (robotic or laparoscopic) vs. open (retropubic or perineal) RP. The primary outcome was the overall prevalence of surgery for PI. The secondary outcome was the association of PI requiring anti-incontinence surgery with the surgical approach for RP.

Among the 13535 patients initially included in the study (mean age, 63.3 years), 6932 (51.2%) underwent open RP and 6603 (49.8%) underwent minimally invasive RP. The overall prevalence of surgical procedures for PI during the observation period among the all patients who had attributed to high rate of PI surgery following laparoscopic approach and low rate of PI surgery following perineal approach. More studies are needed to establish strategies to reduce the rate of PI surgery after RP.
Syncope is a common problem in children and adolescents. However, a large proportion of syncope cases have no underlying cause.

This study aimed to identify the factors affecting the severity of syncope using tissue Doppler imaging (TDI).

This retrospective study included 61 children and adolescents with syncope who underwent echocardiography. The head-up-tilt test (HUT) was performed when there was a more severe syncopal event. We compared the echocardiographic findings between the execute HUT and non-execute HUT, negative HUT result and positive HUT result, and normal electrocardiogram (ECG) and abnormal ECG groups. Data were analyzed using an unpaired t-test post-hoc analysis.

In the execute and non-execute HUT groups, the odds ratios were 0.55 for medial E/E' (p = 0.040) and 0.64 for lateral E/E' (p = 0.049). Comparison of the results of the decreased, normal, and increased groups for lateral E/E' revealed a significant difference in the execution HUT and non-execute HUT groups (overall, p = 0.004; decreased vs. Corticosterone order increased, p = 0.003; normal vs. increased, p = 0.050).

These findings suggest that the presence of left ventricular diastolic deterioration may cause hypoperfusion even in the absence of organic causes and, consequently, increase syncope severity and frequency. Runs of homozygosity (ROH) are contiguous lengths of homozygous genotypes that can reveal inbreeding levels, selection pressure, and mating schemes. In this study, ROHs were evaluated in Wannan Black pigs to assess the inbreeding levels and the genome regions with high ROH frequency.

In a previous study, we obtained 501.52 g of raw data from resequencing (10×) of the genome and identified 21,316,754 single-nucleotide variants (SNVs) in 20 Wannan Black pig samples. We investigated the number, length, and frequency of ROH using resequencing data to characterize the homozygosity in Wannan Black pigs and identified genomic regions with high ROH frequencies.

In this work, 1,813 ROHs (837 ROHs in 100-500 kb, 449 ROHs in 500-1,000 kb, 527 ROHs in >1,000 kb) were identified in all samples, and the average genomic inbreeding coefficient (FROH) in Wannan Black pigs was 0.5234. Sixty-one regions on chromosomes 2, 3, 7, 8, 13, 15, and 16 harbored ROH islands. In total, 105 genes were identified in 42 ROH islands, among which some genes were related to production traits.

This is the first study to identify ROH across the genome of Wannan Black pigs, the Chinese native breed of the Anhui province. Overall, Wannan Black pigs have high levels of inbreeding due to the influence of ancient and recent inbreeding on the genome. These findings are a reliable resource for future studies and contribute to save and use the germplasm resources of Wannan Black pigs.

Growth hormone (GH) and insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) play a critical role in animal growth rates. We aimed to investigate the effect of GH and IGF-I genotypes on body weight (BW), dominance, and gene expression in slow-growing chickens at different ages.

A total of 613 Korat chickens (KRs) were bred and divided into three groups by genotype - A1A1, A1A3, and A3A3 for GH and AA, AC, and CC for IGF-I. Chickens were weighed every two weeks, and liver and breast muscle tissues were collected at 10 weeks of age. Genetic parameters of KRs were estimated using ASReml software. GH and IGF-I mRNA levels were measured by quantitative PCR. Significant differences between traits were analyzed using the generalized linear model.

A significant effect of GH genotypes on BW was found at most ages, and the A1A1 genotype had the highest value of BW. Compared with the A3A3 genotype, the A1A1 and A1A3 genotypes showed a higher dominance effect at 0 and 2 weeks, and genotype A1A1 had the highest value of dominance at 8 weeks of age. A difference in GH mRNA levels between genotypes was detected in breast muscle at 6 weeks and in the liver tissue at 2 weeks. In the case of IGF-I gene, the AA genotype had the highest BW at the beginning of life. Significant differences in BW dominance were found at 2 weeks. However, IGF-I mRNA levels were not different among genotypes in both breast muscles and liver tissues.

Our results revealed that GH and IGF-I influence growth, but may not be involved in heterosis. GH can be used as a marker gene in selection programs for growth because the homozygous genotype (A1A1) had the highest BW at all ages. IGF-I is not a useful marker gene for selection programs.

This project aimed to evaluate the effects of both different additives and filling methods on nutritive quality, fermentation profile, and in situ digestibility of whole plant corn silage.

Whole plant corn forage harvested at 26.72 % dry matter (DM) was chopped and treated with two filling methods, 1) fill silos at one time (F1), 2) fill silos at three times (F3), packing samples into one / three silo capacity at the first day, another one / three capacity at the second day, then one / three at the third day, three replicates. For each replicate, samples were treated with three additives, a) control (CTRL, no additive), b) Sila-Max™ (MAX, Ralco Nutrition Inc., Marshall, Minnesota, U.S.A.), and c) Sila-Mix™ (MIX, Ralco Nutrition Inc., Marshall, Minnesota, U.S.A.). With three replicates of each secondary treatment, there were nine silos, 54 silos in total. Each silo had a packing density of 137.61 kg of DM / m3. All silos were weighed and stored in lab at ambient temperature.
