The analysis focuses on healthcare system features that particularly disadvantage Black patients, such as the waitlisting eligibility criterion of a single glomerular filtration rate or creatinine clearance ≤20 ml/min, and neglect of wide variation in the rate of progression to end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) in allocating preemptive transplants. We propose initiatives to improve equity including (1) standardization of waitlisting eligibility criteria related to kidney function; (2) aggressive education for clinicians about early transplant referral; (3) innovations in electronic medical record capabilities; and (4) rapid status 7 listing by centers. If those initiatives fail, the transplant field should consider eliminating preemptive waitlisting and transplantation with deceased donor kidneys.Within the field of cosmetic dermatology, several promising developments utilize artificial intelligence to better patient care. We aim to highlight current and developing applications of artificial intelligence in cosmetic dermatology and provide insight into future modalities in this field. Methods include literature review, including peer-reviewed journal articles as well as product websites. With the development of customizable skin care, augmented reality applications, and at-home skin analysis tools, patients are empowered to be the masters of their cosmetic care. Artificial intelligence is utilized by physicians in new ways in their practices, with the advent of models for prediction of clinical outcome to treatments and tools for in-depth analysis of the patient's skin. Further research is required in the development of automated energy-based treatment devices and robotic-assisted treatments. Models for AI in cosmetic dermatology serve to increase patient involvement in their skin care decisions and have the ability to enhance the patient-physician experience. Dermatologists should be well-informed of the emerging technologies to better educate patients and enhance their clinical practice.
To systematically analyze the regional disease control after sinonasal mucosal melanoma (SNMM) primary treatment.

The study was performed according to the PRISMA guidelines searching on Scopus, PubMed/MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and Google Scholar databases.

A total of 15 studies with 936 patients (median age 68.0 years, IQR 65-71) were included. Overall, the cumulative regional recurrence rate (RRR) was 18.4% (n = 917, 99% CI 14.0%-23.4%), with a median follow-up of 30.0 months (n = 765, IQR 22.0-37.0). The RRR in clinical node negative patients was 17.0% (99% CI 12.2%-22.5%), with a median follow-up of 22.0 months (n = 327, IQR 21.5-31.5).

The RRR of SNMM after primary treatment is not to be neglected. Further prospective studies should be encouraged to clarify if elective treatment of the neck could be recommended at least in a subgroup of patients.

Herein, we report a new bioorthogonal activation approach by employing Pd(II)-triggered transmetallation reactions to conditionally activate the bio-reactivity of NHC-Au(I)-phenylacetylide complexes (1 a) in vitro and in vivo. A combination of 1 H NMR, LC-MS, DFT calculation and fluorescence screening assays reveals that 1 a displays a reasonable stability against biological thiols, but its phenylacetylide ligand can be efficiently transferred to Pd(II), leading to in situ formation of labile NHC-Au(I) species that is catalytically active inside living cells and zebrafish, and can meanwhile effectively suppress the activity of thioredoxin reductase, potently inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and efficiently suppress angiogenesis in zebrafish models.
Burnout may represent a significant source of distress in health care professionals. Many studies have reported its negative effect on career satisfaction and personal life. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relation between burnout and life satisfaction in a large sample of Italian oncologists.

An online survey was conducted of 14.5% of the Italian oncologists' population (n = 533) using Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, Satisfaction with Life Scale and additional questions exploring professional and personal factors. Moderated regression analysis was carried out to explore how burnout may relate to life satisfaction.

One out of 10 (10.5%) oncologists showed significant burnout symptoms, whereas 1 out of 3 (33.8%) reported being at least slightly dissatisfied with their own life. Family concerns significantly moderated the relationship between burnout and life satisfaction. Men and chiefs of cancer units or departments showed lower rates of burnout and life dissatisfaction than women and other oncologists, respectively.

Reported results are in line with existing data about a limited burnout prevalence in Italian oncologists. We discuss the potential role of gender inequality in explaining our findings. The present study suggests that family concerns may be considered a risk factor for both burnout and life dissatisfaction in oncologists.

In this paper, the authors intend to impart basic techniques for organizing and communicating information in the most effective, engaging, and actionable ways possible. We focus on three processes generating ideas and outlining a talk, creating visually appealing uncluttered slides, and delivering an inspiring, practice-changing presentation. We also discuss considerations for a virtual presentation. We believe that even experienced speakers could benefit from reflecting on these recommendations and editing their slide presentations for clarity and simplicity.As a result of the ongoing global expansion of genetic counseling, the need to formalize a system of professional regulation for genetic counselors was identified in Australasia. In June 2017, under the auspices of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA), a working party was convened. The purpose of the working party was to provide strategic leadership for the profession of Australasian genetic counselors with a goal to formalize a national regulatory framework for genetic counselors across both Australian and New Zealand jurisdictions. This was ultimately achieved in Australia through full membership with the National Alliance of Self-Regulating Health Professions (NASRHP) while the profession of genetic counseling in New Zealand is utilizing this framework to establish their regulation pathway. Regulation has a number of implications for genetic counselors, their employers, and the wider community, with the primary purpose of regulation being protection of the public from harm. This paper details the process of formalizing self-regulation for genetic counselors in Australasia, by defining professional regulation; outlining the purpose of regulation and the status of regulation for genetic counselors in Australasia and internationally, as well as health professionals more broadly; exploring the challenges of establishing regulation in Australasia; and the next steps for regulation in Australasia. Through detailing this process, the intention is to provide a framework to support genetic counseling colleagues internationally as well as other health professions in Australasia to explore and achieve regulation through their respective jurisdiction.

A framework solving the cost-function of the water-fat separation problem in a single-min-cut graph-cut based on the variable-layer graph construction concept was developed. The developed framework was applied to a numerical phantom enclosing an MR signal void, an air bubble experimental phantom, 14 large field of view (FOV) head/neck region in vivo scans and to 6 lumbar spine in vivo scans. Field-mapping and subsequent QSM results using the proposed algorithm were compared to results using an iterative graph-cut algorithm and a formerly proposed single-min-cut graph-cut.

The proposed method was shown to yield accurate field-map and susceptibility values in all simulation and in vivo datasets when compared to reference values (simulation) or literature values (in vivo).
