This study explores mental health personnel's experiences in the encounter with family members of patients at risk of suicide so as to develop a deeper understanding of the content of caring.
Data were collected using semi-structured interviews with 12 participants and were analysed and interpreted using a model inspired by the philosophical hermeneutics of Gadamer. The context was psychiatric wards.
Through a thematic analysis, four themes emerged Acknowledgement as a premise for involving family members. Embracing with the family members' feelings and reactions. Strengthening hope in a situation entailing a serious risk of suicide. Providing reassurance to family members in transitional situations.
Witnessing the family members' suffering and needs is understood as arousing a sense of responsibility in the participants and triggering various care strategies such as listening, embracing, strengthening hope and providing reassurance.

Because of its external effects, social distancing behavior (SDB) shares fundamental properties with public goods, whose potential for undersupply has been examined extensively in the social sciences. Although the negative effects of infodemics have been emphasized by governments and international organizations, theoretical models suggest that infodemics may work as a mitigation mechanism. That is, infodemics may enhance people's SDBs. Based on original survey data, we show that media exposure can positively increase SDB. We conclude by discussing two public health implications. First, the media plays an important role in motivating SDB. Second, even if infodemics can increase SDB, we must be wary of their ability to pose other, non-negligible dangers.
We analyzed the clinical features and outcomes of children with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis in Northwestern China.
We retrospectively recruited 33 pediatric patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis in Northwestern China from December 2013 to April 2020. The demographics, clinical features, treatments, and outcomes were reviewed.
33 patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis were enrolled in this study (a median age of 6.8years, 20 females and 13 males). The initial symptoms included seizures (42.4%), psychiatric symptoms (39.4%), speech dysfunction (12.1%), and paralysis (6.1%). During the course of the disease, 31 patients (93.9%) presented with psychiatric symptoms, 29 patients (87.9%) presented with speech dysfunction, 25 patients (75.8%) presented with movement disorders and 24 patients (72.7%) presented with sleep disorders followed by seizures, consciousness disturbance, autonomic nervous dysfunction, paralysis, and hypoventilation. 12 patients (36.4%) had abnormal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) findings, 10 patients (30.3%) exhibited abnormal brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) results, and 29 patients (87.9%) showed abnormal Electroencephalography (EEG) findings. None of the patients had tumors. All patients received first-line immunotherapy and 8 patients both received first and second-line immunotherapy. 30 of the 33 patients achieved good outcomes (score on the modified Rankin Scale [mRS] of 0-2), whilst the other 3 patients had poor outcomes (mRS score of 3-6).
Patients with higher CSF anti-NMDAR body titer were more likely to develop sleep disorders, consciousness disturbances and more severe disease states.

One hundred and seventy-eight schoolchildren from 1st, 3rd, 5thand 7th grade participated in the study. Physical activity was measured for seven consecutive days with an ActiGraph GT3X-BT accelerometer and is expressed as total PA incounts per minute (cpm) and moderate-to-vigorous activity (MVPA) (min∙day-1). During PN, 51% of boys and 33% of girls met the PA recommendations, whereas 36% of boys and 34% of girls met the recommendations during PD. Time spent doing MVPA did not differ between the two seasons (all p ≥ 0.073). Overall, the children accumulated 613 ±154 cpm during PN, which was lower than during PD 704 ± 269 cpm, p less then 0.001). A larger proportion of boys than girls met the PA recommendations during PN compared with PD. Our findings did not show any clear seasonal variation for MVPA or total PA among children, except for some differences within sexes in different grades. This study indicates that interventions aimed at increasing PA should be implemented throughout the year in the Arctic regions. .
Adolescent wellness over the years has been a major public health concern. The adolescent period is stated to be a critical phase as developments occur in all areas of the individual. This study aims to explore secondary school students' perceptions on knowledge of wellness, influences of wellness, prioritization of wellness dimensions and ideal adolescent wellness programmes in Fiji.
This study qualitatively investigates adolescents in four purposively selected schools in Suva, Fiji. 31 students who enrolled into years 11 to 13 in the selected schools were interviewed in-depthly using a semi-structured, open-ended questionnaire. Data was transcribed and classified into categories, sub-themes and major themes.
Participants' responses indicated wellness perceived as multidimensional with no regard to dimensional balance. Family, peers and school support, social media, nutrition and physical activities are factors perceived to influence wellness. The availability of school counsellors, facilitation of effective school health programmes, and incorporation of wellness into the school curriculum were perceived as ideal ways to increase adolescent wellness.
This study provides important research findings of adolescent wellness for Fiji's health sector, its policymakers and programme developers. find protocol Further studies are needed to understand the broad concept of wellness and its several dimensions.

This study investigated the overall developmental trajectories of three conceptually progressive aspects of counseling self-efficacy, including helping skills (HS), session management (SM), and counseling challenges (CH), among beginning therapist trainees in China.
Participants included 103 beginning therapist trainees in a master's level counselor training programme in China, who filled out measures of counselor self-efficacy in three waves over one year of practicum.
(a) Trainees showed highest initial level of HS, followed by SM, with CH being the lowest; and there were significant increases in all three aspects of self-efficacy. (b) Trainee age, gender, and personal therapy hours as a client were associated with the overall self-efficacy developmental trajectories. Specifically, elder therapist trainees reported higher initial levels of self-efficacy in HS and CH; female trainees reported lower initial level but higher increases in CH self-efficacy over practicum; and trainees who had more hours of personal therapy as clients showed higher initial levels on HS but not on other aspects or the change trajectories.
Results in this study may inform trainers regarding trainees' developmental characteristics, and assist them in planning targeted support to better foster trainee progress.

However, less is known about DBT in Intensive Outpatient (IOP) programs, or in PH to IOP step-down models. The current study examined changes in depression, anxiety, stress, hopelessness, and mindfulness skills acquisition, from intake and discharge data of clients at a southeastern behavioral health clinic in the United States. The sample included 146 clients, 65.75% female (ages M = 33.88, SD = 12.34), who attended either a DBT-PH, -IOP, or -PH to IOP step-down program. Participants completed the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-21), Beck Hopelessness Scale (BHS), and Five Facets of Mindfulness Questionnaire Short Form (FFMQ-SF).Depression, anxiety, and hopelessness decreased from intake to discharge in the PH program, while all symptoms decreased in the IOP and step-down programs. Mindfulness total scores, and most subscales, increased in each program. Mindfulness skills acquisition predicted decreases in depression and stress in the IOP group, and decreases in depression and hopelessness in the step-down group.Overall, clinical symptoms and mindfulness skills acquisition improved over the course of the DBT-PH and-IOP programs. The abeyance of self-consciousness (SC) during hypnosis has been discussed as a central aspect of hypnosis, yet dispositional SC has been very rarely evaluated as a correlate of hypnotizability. In this study (N = 328), the authors administered the Harvard Group Scale of Hypnotic Susceptibility (HGSHS), the Inventory Scale of Hypnotic Depth (ISHD), and the Self-Consciousness Scale-Revised (SCS-R). Women tended to score higher than men on the HGSHS, besides experiencing greater ISHD automaticity. The Discontinuity (with everyday experiences) subscale of the ISHD correlated with the Public Self-Consciousness scale of the SCS-R and with the Private Self-Consciousness subscale (using simple, quadratic, and cubic regressions). Being concerned about the perception of others related to experiencing hypnosis as discontinuous with everyday life, which also related to being more introspective and interested in subjectivity at the middle range of scores. The article concludes with suggestions on how to pursue the implications of these results, including testing for nonlinear relations. We report results from a blind comparison of six analytical laboratories ISO/IEC 17025 accredited for the implementation of the analytical element of EN 1911, which involves the quantification of chloride in deionized water collected from HCl emitting industrial processes regulated under the EU's Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). Both "synthetic" (sodium chloride dissolved in deionized water) and "real" (extracted and collected from a stack simulator facility) samples were prepared across ranges which were equivalent to concentrations in the stack of 0-10 mg·m-3 and 0-60 mg·m-3, respectively. Laboratory measurements of the real samples showed significantly poorer performance than the synthetic, implying that the use of synthetic samples in national proficiency testing schemes may be leading to an overly optimistic view of the uncertainties that can routinely be achieved in measurements of real industrial processes. In addition, at the applicable emission limits (10 mg·m-3 and 3 mg·m-3) and measurement ranges (0-15 mg·m-3 and 0-4.
