Percutaneous Biventricular Hemodynamic Support Employing Biatrial Extracorporeal Tissue layer Oxygenation.
The KET metabolisation rate was similar (P=0.296) between groups. No differences between groups were detected in terms of stages of sedation and recoveries. All physiological variables remained within normality ranges during the whole observation period. During the hospitalisation period, no severe adverse reactions and signs of resedation were observed.

The simultaneous administration of 10 µg/kg of DEX and 2 mg/kg of KET can be considered an effective protocol for chemical immobilisation of captive tigers, along with dosage adjusments or when other drugs are needed.

Nowadays Computer-Aided Diagnosis (CAD) models, particularly those based on deep learning, have been widely used to analyze histopathological images in breast cancer diagnosis. However, due to the limited availability of such images, it is always tedious to train deep learning models that require a huge amount of training data. Cerivastatin sodium In this paper, we propose a new deep learning-based CAD framework that can work with less amount of training data.

We use pre-trained models to extract image features that can then be used with any classifier. Our proposed features are extracted by the fusion of two different types of features (foreground and background) at two levels (whole-level and part-level). Foreground and background feature to capture information about different structures and their layout in microscopic images of breast tissues. Similarly, part-level and whole-level features capture are useful in detecting interesting regions scattered in high-resolution histopathological images at local and whole image levels. At each level, we use VGG16 models pre-trained on ImageNet and Places datasets to extract foreground and background features, respectively. All features are extracted from mid-level pooling layers of such models.

We show that proposed fused features with a Support Vector Classifier (SVM) produce better classification accuracy than recent methods on BACH dataset and our approach is orders of magnitude faster than the best performing recent method (EMS-Net).

We believe that our method would be another alternative in the diagnosis of breast cancer because of performance and prediction time.

Although APAP is safe in therapeutic concentration, APAP overdose may induce neurotoxicity, which is mainly associated with oxidative stress. Caffeine is a compound widely found in numerous natural beverages. However, the neuroprotective effect of caffeine remains unclear during APAP intoxication. The present study aimed to investigate the possible modulatory effects of caffeine on brain after APAP intoxication. Mice received intraperitoneal injections of APAP (250 mg/kg) and/or caffeine (20 mg/kg) and, 4 h after APAP administration, samples of brain and blood were collected for the biochemical analysis. APAP enhanced the transaminase activity levels in plasma, increased oxidative stress biomarkers (lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species), promoted an imbalance in endogenous antioxidant system in brain homogenate and increased the mortality. In contrast, APAP did not induce dysfunction of the mitochondrial bioenergetics. Co-treatment with caffeine modulated the biomarkers of oxidative stress as well as antioxidant system in brain. Besides, survival assays demonstrated that caffeine protective effects could be dose- and time-dependent. In addition, caffeine promoted an increase of mitochondrial bioenergetics response in brain by the enhancement of the oxidative phosphorylation, which could promote a better energy supply necessary for brain recovery. In conclusion, caffeine prevented APAP-induced biochemical alterations in brain and reduced lethality in APAP-intoxicated mice, these effects may relate to the preservation of the cellular antioxidant status, and these therapeutic properties could be useful in the treatment of hepatic encephalopathy induced by APAP intoxication. The Tepary bean (Phaseolus acutifolius) lectin fraction (TBLF) exhibits differential cytotoxicity on colon cancer cells and inhibition of early tumorigenesis in the colon (50 mg/kg, three times per week, for 6 weeks). TBLF showed low toxicity with the ability to activate the immune system; however, some adverse effects are the loss in body weight gain, intestinal atrophy, and pancreatic hyperplasia. After a recovery period of 2 weeks after treatment, reversion of pancreatic hyperplasia but no recovery of intestinal atrophy was observed. As TBLF has shown anticancer effects on the colon, it is important to characterize the adverse effects and how they can be reversed. Sprague Dawley rats were administered with TBLF (50 mg/kg) for 6 weeks, three times per week, and then allowed to recover for 6 weeks post-treatment. After TBLF administration, small intestine atrophy, villus atrophy, and cryptic hyperplasia were confirmed, as well as increased intestinal mucus production, increased permeability and a decrease in the apparent ileal digestibility of crude proteins. The colon showed damage in the simple prismatic tissue and decreased crypt depth, and changes in microbiota and a decrease in the apparent fecal digestibility of crude protein were determined. Our results show that the adverse effects provoked by TBLF were partially reversed after 6 weeks of recovery post-treatment, suggesting that increasing the recovery period it could be possible to reverse all adverse effects observed.Snakebite is considered as one of the acute severe medical problems across the world. Snake venoms composed of various group of toxins, enzymes and non-toxic enzymes. Phospholipases A2 present in Naja naja snake venom plays a significant role in lipid signalling and contributes to different inflammation in the human body. Dryopteris cochleata rhizomes have antioxidant, antimicrobial property and used to treat lesions, gonorrhoea, sores, muscular pain, rheumatic and also useful in dog and snake bites. In this study, Indian male fern D. link2 cochleata rhizomes have been used for green synthesis of silver nanoparticles with the aim to increase the bioactivity of plant extract and to evaluate N. naja snake venom inhibition activity of prepared nanoparticles. Green synthesized nanoparticles were characterized with the help of ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and atomic force microscopy. Naja naja venom inhibition activity of nanoparticles was performed using in vitro phospholipases A2 assay and tissue damage activity. The results showed that surface plasmon resonance maxima peaks of nanoparticles were observed at 424 nm. Average particle size was around 35 nm, with a spherical shape. Neutralization results exhibited that synthesized silver nanoparticles from D. cochleata decreased percentage of tissue damage, resulting in significant inhibition of phospholipase A2 and N. naja snake venom. Results concluded that green synthesized silver nanoparticles from D. cochleata rhizome neutralize N. naja snake venom activity. In the present study, the protective effects of honey and bee venom (BV) either independently or in combination against lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl4)-induced hepatoxicity, lipid peroxidation, and hematological alterations in male albino rats were investigated. In addition, histopathological alterations of hepatic tissues induced by LPS/CCL4 were recorded. Sixty-four of male albino rats of average weight 120-150 g were included in this study. Rats were divided into eight equal groups of eight. The obtained results demonstrated that treatment with LPS/CCl4 caused an increase in the levels of alpha-fetoprotein, which was accompanied by changes in the hepatic function biomarkers that characterized by the increased levels of transaminases (AST, ALT). link3 The results showed oxidative stress as assigned by the increase in lipid peroxide. Meantime detraction in the antioxidants, including glutathione peroxidase was observed. Interruptions in biochemical parameters accompanied by disturbances in hematological parameters and liver histopathology were resulted due to exposure to LPS/CCl4. This study showed the use of honey and BV provided a protective effect on hepatotoxicity induced by LPS/CCl4. This might have been occurred through the reduction of hepatic transaminases and the "Alpha-fetoprotein" in serum and the equilibration of the antioxidation system, thereby, inhibiting the reactive oxygen species accumulation. Honey and BV administration reestablish disturbed hematological parameters and liver histopathology persuaded by LPS/CCl4. More interesting, we demonstrated that using a combination of the honey and BV showed promising enhancement in their protective effects over the use of just one of the two reagents.Manganese (Mn) is an essential micronutrient. However, it is well established that Mn overexposure causes nervous system diseases. In contrast, there are few reports on the effects of Mn exposure on glomerular endothelium. In the present study, the potential effects of Mn exposure on glomerular endothelium were evaluated. Sprague Dawley rats were used as a model of Mn overexposure by intraperitoneal injection of MnCl2·H2O at 25 mg/kg body weight. Mn exposure decreased expression of vascular endothelial-cadherin, a key component of adherens junctions, and increased exudate from glomeruli in Sprague Dawley rats. Human renal glomerular endothelial cells were cultured with different concentration of Mn. Exposure to 0.2 mM Mn increased permeability of human renal glomerular endothelial cell monolayers and decreased vascular endothelial-cadherin expression without inducing cytotoxicity. In addition, Mn exposure increased phosphorylation of mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 2/3 and upregulated expression of zinc finger protein SNAI1, a negative transcriptional regulator of vascular endothelial-cadherin. Our data suggest Mn exposure may contribute to development of glomerular diseases by inducing permeability of glomerular endothelium. Here we look at popular trends and concepts in toxicology over the decade 2009-2019. The top 10 concepts included methodological approaches such as zebrafish and genomics as well as broader concepts such as personalized medicine and adverse outcome pathways. The total number and rank order for each of the top 10 were tracked year by year via PubMed with >9500 papers contributing to the analysis. The data revealed a slow upward trend in the number of papers across all the concepts from 260 in 2009 to >1700 in 2019. Zebrafish, genomics and personalized medicine remained in the top four slots since 2009 with zebrafish dominating the rankings over the entire decade. Genomics was a strong second until 2013 when it was displaced first by the microbiome in 2014 and secondly by personalized medicine in 2015. Other notable trends were the ascendancy of the microbiome and adverse outcome pathways and the descendancy of hormesis and the 3Rs (replacement, reduction and refinement of animals in testing). The observation that the top four slots have been static over the past 4 years suggests that new ideas are introduced and increase in popularity until they find their place in scientific culture.
