Despite current guidelines suggesting a benefit for dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) following peripheral vascular intervention (PVI), there are limited data on antiplatelet prescribing patterns post-procedure. We attempted to determine variables associated with DAPT prescription following lower extremity PVI.

Retrospective analysis of patients undergoing lower extremity PVI in the Vascular Quality Initiative (2017-2018) was performed. Participants not on anticoagulation or DAPT before the procedure were considered for the final analysis. Postdischarge antiplatelet therapy regimen rates were determined (none, aspirin only, P2Y12 inhibitor only, and DAPT). Multivariate logistic regression was performed to determine variables associated with DAPT initiation compared with those discharged on single-agent or no antiplatelet therapy.

A total of 16 597 procedures were included for analysis, with 49% initiated on DAPT post-PVI. Male sex (odds ratio [OR], 1.12 [95% CI, 1.05-1.20]), smoking (OR, 1.20 [95% CI, 1.quired to understand how this affects postintervention adverse limb and cardiovascular events.
In the present paper we aim to contribute to the understanding of how people with dementia experience using a web-based communication support application on a tablet computer in a group activity. The specific focus of the present paper is on perception of social inclusion among people with dementia in a group activity using digital communication support.

The study is based on interviews with participants in a communication group for people with dementia where the application CIRCA, specifically designed to support interaction involving people with dementia, was used. Five individuals with dementia were recruited from a residential care home where they lived in different wards. Seven group interviews with the participating persons with dementia following directly after each session were carried out.

The views of the participants were generally very positive, regarding many aspects of the activity. In the present study, the group activity seemed more important and beneficial for the participants, than the specific use of the application in itself.

Taking part in a group activity targeting communication made participants with dementia feel that they were part of a social group, that they had learnt things, and that they had been able to contribute with their expertise to others.

Group activities targeting communication give people with dementia the opportunity to exercise their social inclusion practices. Group activities may render a feeling of social community and a sense of belonging to the participants. The use of digital communication support may enhance such activities.

Comparative studies of different robotic types are warranted to tailor robot-assisted upper limb training to patient's functional level.

This study aimed to directly compare the effects of high inertia robot arm (whole arm manipulator, WAM) and low inertia robot arm (Proficio) on upper limb motor function in chronic stroke patients.

In this randomized controlled trial, 40 chronic stroke survivors were randomized into robot-assisted arm training with WAM (RAT-WAM) and robot-assisted arm training with Proficio (RAT-P) groups. The RAT-WAM and RAT-P groups participated in the robot-assisted arm training with WAM and robot-assisted arm training with Proficio, respectively, for 40min daily, three times weekly over a four week. Upper limb motor function was measured before and after the intervention using the Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA), action research arm test, and box and block test (BBT). Curvilinearity ratio (the length ratio of a straight line from the start to the target) was also measured as an index for upper limb kinematic performance.

The RAT-WAM and RAT-P groups showed significant improvements in FMA-total and -proximal (shoulder/elbow units), BBT, and ARAT after the intervention (
<.05). Also, the RAT-P group showed significantly more improvement than the RAT-WAM group in FMA-distal (hand/wrist units) (
<.05).

Improvements of upper limb motor function occurred during robot-assisted arm training with robotic systems. Low inertia robot arm was more effective in improving the motor function of the hand and wrist. The results may be useful for robot-assisted training for upper limb impairment.

This paper estimates the impact on future smoking prevalence of 25 year olds by increasing tobacco prices, securing indoor smoke-free homes and implementing school-based multi-tiered interventions. Methods Utilizing a multi-state Markov model, a status quo projection of the smoking prevalence from years 2017 to 2030 were compared with projections of the smoking prevalence in 2030 considering the impact of the three prevention strategies. Results In a status quo projection, 27.0% of Danish 25-year-old females are expected to be smokers in 2030, while 13.2% would be smokers in 2030 were all three prevention strategies in effect from 2019. By itself, increasing tobacco prices by 50% reduced the prevalence of smokers among 25-year-old females to 14.8% in 2030, a relative reduction of 47.5%. For 25-year-old males in 2030 the reductions were similar, with a prevalence of 16.6% when all three prevention strategies were in effect, a relative reduction of 51.5%. Conclusions Implementing increasing tobacco prices, indoor smoke-free homes and school-based multi-tiered interventions in Denmark is likely to significantly decrease youth smoking prevalence in the future. However, these three strategies will not produce a smoke-free generation without other initiatives. We measured the eccentricity effect of deformation thresholds of circular contours for two types of the radial frequency (RF) patterns with their centers at the fixation point constant circular contour frequency (CCF) RF patterns and constant RF magnified (retino-cortical scaling) RF patterns. We varied the eccentricity by changing the mean radius of the RF patterns while keeping the centers of the RF patterns at the fixation point. Our peripheral stimulus presentation was distinguished from previous studies which have simply translated RF patterns at different locations in the visual field. Sensitivity for such shape discrimination fell off as the moderate and high CCF patterns were presented on more eccentric sites but did not as the low CCF patterns. However, sensitivity held constant as the magnified RF patterns were presented on more eccentric sites, indicating that the eccentricity effects observed for the high and moderate CCF patterns were neutralized by retinocortical mapping. Notably, sensitivity for the magnified RF patterns with large radii (4°-16°) presented in the peripheral field revealed a similar RF dependence observed for RF patterns with small radii (0.25°-1.0°) presented at the fovea in previous studies.Adults perceive a continuum of emotional facial expressions categorically rather than continuously. Categorical perception is thought to be adaptive and functional, allowing for inferences that inform behavior. To date, studies have demonstrated categorical perception of some emotional facial expressions in infants. However, a recent study reported that 12-month-olds infants do not perceive facial emotional expressions categorically across a happy-sad continuum. In contrast, toddlers at 3.5 years of age appear to use categorical perception along the happy-sad continuum. Using a novel paradigm that employed the use of a looking-time discrimination task and an explicit identification task, this study measured 26-month-old's identification of faces and ability to discriminate between faces along a happy-sad continuum. Results suggest that 26-month-olds perceive facial expressions categorically along the happy-sad continuum. For over 2000 years, the pictorial line has been recognized as being fundamental to drawing and several other art forms. Yet pictorial lines present intriguing issues, three of which are considered here lines very rarely exist in the natural world; there is no known part of the brain which "processes" lines; and, paradoxically, we often pay very little attention to the lines themselves, and they have even been viewed as "an imaginary idea".
Antiplatelet therapy may increase the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage after endovascular treatment for ischemic stroke but may also have a beneficial effect on functional outcome. The aim of this study is to compare safety and efficacy outcomes after endovascular treatment in patients with and without prior antiplatelet therapy.

We analyzed patients registered in the MR CLEAN Registry between March 2014 and November 2017, for whom data on antiplatelet therapy were available. We used propensity score nearest-neighbor matching with replacement to balance the probability of receiving prior antiplatelet therapy between the prior antiplatelet therapy and no prior antiplatelet therapy group and adjusted for baseline prognostic factors to compare these groups. link2 Primary outcome was symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage. Secondary outcomes were 90-day functional outcome (modified Rankin Scale), successful reperfusion (extended thrombolysis in cerebral infarction score ≥2B) and 90-day mortality.

Thirty pd clinical trial comparing antiplatelet therapy versus no antiplatelet therapy is needed.
We found no evidence of an association of prior antiplatelet therapy with the risk of symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage after endovascular treatment, nor on functional outcome, reperfusion, or mortality. A substantial beneficial or detrimental effect of antiplatelet therapy on clinical outcome cannot be excluded. A randomized clinical trial comparing antiplatelet therapy versus no antiplatelet therapy is needed.
Numerous tests of visuo-spatial neglect (VSN) have been developed. In this study, we propose a clustering of VSN tests by making a distinction between static tests with low levels of cognitive demand (i.e. link3 tests without movement or time-restrictions, such as paper-and-pencil tests) and dynamic tests with high levels of cognitive demand (i.e. tests incorporating movement and time-restrictions, such as virtual reality tests). The concepts of static and dynamic tests have not been systematically investigated so far. Here, we investigated (1) whether we would find dissociations between patients showing VSN on test within the static cluster but not on tests within the dynamic cluster, and vice versa; (2) whether differences in demographic or clinical characteristics could be identified between these groups of patients; and (3) whether the underlying factor structure would correspond to our proposed distinction between static and dynamic clusters of tests.

Sixty-one patients with VSN completed three static tests (shape cancellation, line bisection, letter cancellation) and three dynamic tests (Catherine Bergego Scale, Mobility Assessment Course, simulated driving test).
