For instance, a smart phone has a PIN code that is set by the user when they purchase the device and must enter each time they want to use it. While a longer PIN number may appear more secure but there are ways to guess or hack a PIN code that is as short as four digits. The VIN code is a serial number that has six digits that uniquely identifies an automobile or truck. The last digit of the VIN code is also known as the check-digit. The remaining numbers have been converted into numbers. For example the first digit receives eight, the next digits increase by one until it reaches nine at seventh digit, which then becomes two. Then the whole VIN will be translated back to its original form, by multiplying each weight by 11. If the result is equal to the check number, then the VIN is valid.
