The hydrogen evolution rate (HER) for g-CN was found as 115.2 μmol/h, whereas for CN-PM0.1was estimated at 641.2 μmol/h (six times higher). In particular, the pseudo-order kinetic constant of CN-MP0.1 for photodegradation of RhB was two times higher than that ofg-CN. Results show an important step toward tailor-designed and explain the vital role of the D-A system for the rational motifs of productive photocatalysts with effective pollutant degradable capability for future demand.Hydrogen (H2) molecules are easy to leak during production, storage, transportation and usage. Because of their flammability and explosive nature, quick and reliable dectection of H2 molecule is of great significance. Herein, an excellent H2 gas sensor has been realized based on Pd nanocrystal sensitized two-dimensional (2D) porous TiO2 (Pd/TiO2). The formation of 2D porous TiO2 with the removal of graphene oxide template has been monitored by an in-situ transmission electron microscope. It is found that the size of the GO template can be almost completely replicated by 2D TiO2. The Pd/TiO2 sensor exhibited an instantaneous response and a satisfactory low detection limit for H2 detection. These excellent gas-sensing performances (good selectivity, unique linearity response and high stability) can be attributed to the unique 2D porous structure and the synergistic effect between oxidized Pd and TiO2, including the unique adsorption properties of O2 or/and H2 on Pd/TiO2, the reaction between PdO and H2 gas, and the regulated depletion layer arising from p-type PdO to n-type TiO2. This work demonstrates a rational design and synthesis of highly efficient H2 sensitive materials for energy and manufacturing security.Noise has been regarded as an environmental pollutant that greatly affects people's physical and psychiatric health. Fibrous sound absorption materials are widely used to release the annoyance that brought by noise pollution, however, the fibrous materials are limited by poor sound absorption ability in low-frequency, heavyweight, and excessive thickness. Herein, composite nanofiber aerogels are designed with a hierarchical maze-like microstructure, which is fabricated by interweaving the cellulose nanocrystal lamellas with polyacrylonitrile electrospun nanofiber networks through the freeze-casting technique. The designed maze-like structure shows obvious enhancement in the low-frequency sound absorption band compared to the fiber aerogels made by the network structure. Moreover, through carefully regulating the maze structure, composite nanofiber aerogels with excellent sound absorption performance (with an NRC of 0.58) and lightweight property (11.05 mg cm-3) can be fabricated. In addition to the superior sound absorption ability, the hierarchical nature of the maze-like structure also guarantees the nanofiber aerogels with robust mechanical properties, which can be tailored to various shaped objects on a large scale. These favorable characters present that the composite nanofiber aerogels potential choice for sound absorption in the fields of vehicles, buildings, and indoor reverberation.A novel N-doped graphene-like carbon nanosheets (CNs) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-encapsulated Co-Co3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) (CN@Co-Co3O4/CNTs) were synthesized successfully by a simple hydrothermal and annealing method with graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as self-template. By annealing Co2+/g-C3N4 under N2 atmosphere, g-C3N4 was transformed into CN/CNTs, and Co2+ was reduced into CoNPs which were embedded in CNs. Further annealing in air, a shell of Co3O4 was formed around CoNPs. The amount of CNs, CNTs, and CoNPs can be adjusted by changing the ratio of Co2+ in Co2+/g-C3N4. The graphene-like CNs provided a large number of active sites and a large specific surface area for loading lots of small CoNPs uniformly. The CNTs with a diameter of 100 nm could not only improve the conductivity but also provide a buffer space for the aggregation and volume expansion of Co3O4. CNTs also enlarged the interlayer distance of CNs, which prevented the re-stacking of CNs and provided great convince for the intercalation and de-intercalation of Li+. When applied for anode material of lithium-ion batteries, CN@Co-Co3O4/CNTs exhibited a high discharge capacity of 460.0 mAh g-1 at 5000 mA g-1 after 300 cycles with a Coulombic efficiency of 98% and excellent higher-rate capacity (401.0 mAh g-1 at 2000 mA g-1 and 329.0 mAh g-1 at 5000 mA g-1).
Neurological disorders are one of the reasons for admission in pediatric emergency departments (PEDs). We aimed to evaluate the frequency of neurological disorders seen in a large tertiary PED.
We conducted a one-year retrospective study that included 1471 medical records. Inclusion was based on the main complaint recorded by nurses at triage. We also retrieved the final diagnoses and the investigations performed in the PED.
About 3.4% of the yearly admissions was based on a neurologic complaint on arrival. The final diagnosis was of a neurologic disorder in 1237 children, 2% of which were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit. An opinion from a child neurologist was requested for 33% of the children. Seizures were the most frequent reason for admission, followed by headaches. A previous visit to the PED in the past six months was a frequent finding (40%), and about one third of the patients with a neurologic diagnosis (except headaches) was already being followed by a child neurologist.
Neurological disorders are frequent in our PED and are mainly represented by seizures and headaches. Appropriate training in epileptology might be helpful for healthcare professional working in PEDs.

This difficulty is thought to be due to the way that facial expressions are visually explored. Evidence for atypical visual exploration of emotional faces in autism is, however, equivocal. We propose that, where observed, atypical visual exploration of emotional facial expressions is due to alexithymia, a distinct but frequently co-occurring condition. In this eye-tracking study we tested the alexithymia hypothesis using a number of recent methodological advances to study eye gaze during several emotion processing tasks (emotion recognition, intensity judgements, free gaze), in 25 adults with, and 45 without, autism. A multilevel polynomial modelling strategy was used to describe the spatiotemporal dynamics of eye gaze to emotional facial expressions. Converging evidence from traditional and novel analysis methods revealed that atypical gaze to the eyes is best predicted by alexithymia in both autistic and non-autistic individuals. Information theoretic analyses also revealed differential effects of task on gaze patterns as a function of alexithymia, but not autism. These findings highlight factors underlying atypical emotion processing in autistic individuals, with wide-ranging implications for emotion research. The attentional template is often described as the mental representation that drives attentional selection and guidance, for instance, in visual search. Recent research suggests that this template is not a veridical representation of the sought-for target, but instead an altered representation that allows more efficient search. The current paper contrasts two such theories. https://www.selleckchem.com/products/ljh685.html Firstly, the Optimal Tuning account which posits that the attentional template shifts to an exaggerated target value to maximise the signal-to-noise ratio between similar targets and non-targets. Secondly, the Relational account which states that instead of tuning to feature values, attention is directed to the relative value created by the search context, e.g. all redder items or the reddest item. Both theories are empirically supported, but used different paradigms (perceptual decision tasks vs. visual search), and different attentional measures (probe response accuracy vs. gaze capture). The current design incorporates both paradigms anhallenged by an apparent non- veridical tuning of the template in situations where the target stimulus is similar to non-targets. The current studies compare two theories that propose different explanations for non-veridical tuning; the Relational and the Optimal Tuning account. We show that the Relational account describes the mechanism that guides early search behaviour, while the Optimal Tuning account describes perceptual decision-making. Optimal Tuning effects may be due to an artefact that has not been described in visual search before (simultaneous contrast). The contamination of Cd and Cu in soil is a great threat to medicinal plant. Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) is a potential soil pH adjuster to reduce metal toxicity. However, how GGBS affects the quality and yield of herbal plants under the stress of Cd and Cu is not clear. This study aims to investigate the quality and yield of a medicinal plant (Pseudostellaria heterophylla) responding to GGBS treatment in Cd and Cu contaminated soil. GGBS with three mass percentages (0%, 3%, 5%) was added into contaminated lateritic soils for planting. Each condition had 21 replicated seedlings. The concentrations of Cd and Cu in plant, amounts of active ingredients (polysaccarides and saponins) in medicinal organ, and tuber properties were measured after harvest. The results showed that under 3% and 5% GGBS treatments, Cd and Cu accumulations in all plant organs (leaf, stem, root and tuber) were reduced by 69.4-86.0% and 10.3-30.1%, respectively. They were below the permissible limits (World Health Organization, WHO). Even though the concentrations of active ingredients in P. heterophylla tuber decreased by up to 35.8%, they still met Hong Kong Chinese Materia Medica standard. Besides, the biomass of root tuber increased by 9.8% and 46%, due to 3% and 5% GGBS treatments, respectively. The recommended 5% GGBS treatment in practice can balance the reduction of active ingredients and the increase of plant yield when minimizing Cd and Cu accumulation in tuber.
Evidences showed that polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) do harm to human body. However, the association between PAHs and sex hormones in children and adolescents remains unclear.
The study aims to investigate the associations between PAHs and sex hormones in the general children and adolescent population.
967 participants aged 6-19 with complete data of PAHs exposure biomarkers, covariates and sex hormones [total testosterone (TT), estradiol (E2) and sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG)] were recruited from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), 2013-2016. Free androgen index (FAI) was calculated with TT/SHBG. Multivariate linear regression models were performed in six subgroups (male children, male adolescents, male late adolescents, female children, female adolescents and female late adolescents) to estimate the associations between sex hormone alterations and PAHs exposure.
In male puberty adolescents, weighted multivariate linear regression indicated that negative trends for 2-Hydroxynaphthalene, 1-Hydroxyphenanthrene, 2&3-Hydroxyphenanthrene and E2 (2-Hydroxynaphthalene β -0.
