Buying a Double Buggy 3 Wheels
The versatile single-to-double buggy has 17 different options for sleeping and seating kids, from newborn to toddler and the third option with iCandy's "piggy back board. It's also among the tiniest double strollers that fits through doors like a single pushchair.
This is a compact and light stroller that folds easily with one hand. It's also excellent on a variety of terrains and also has a handy shopping basket.
Adaptability
When you're looking to purchase a double buggy, there's plenty to think about. You'll want to ensure that your children are safe, comfortable and happy as you explore new routes and sights. You should also consider the price as well as the size, weight and the durability. A well-known brand (within your budget of course) will increase the resale value as well as speed up the purchase later on.
Based on the number of children you have to carry There are two primary kinds of double buggy with 3 wheels: front-facing and side-byside. Side-by-side buggies are smaller than front-facing ones, however they tend to have bigger footprints. 3 wheel pushchair is one of the most innovative models on the market. This is the slimmest buggy available. It even fits through narrow doorways.
Tandem buggies are generally larger. They are typically started as a single pushchair, but can be rearranged to accommodate an additional seat or carrycot by using adapters. Some tandem buggies can take twins or a toddler and a baby or a child and newborn thanks to their innovative seating arrangements. One example is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 which can be converted to a triple with the addition of the optional 'Piggy Back' board.
The iCandy Orange is another super-smart tandem buggy that has an exclusive 'cinema seating' design that allows the rear seat to be lowered or raised to different positions, so you can change how your children sit in it. This allows you to choose from 30 different seating configurations. It is ideal for parents of children at different developmental stages.
The phil&teds sports is also a good option. This multi-award winning buggy is the first of its kind that will protect your wallet in the near future. It starts out as a brilliant single and can be modified to take two (or three!) As your family expands, you'll be able to use the same footprint of a single buggy. This is made possible by the sling seat, which is ideal for infants and provides the best maneuverability, stability and kerb pop.
Manoeuvrability
In general, double buggys with 3 wheels are more comfortable for you to maneuver and control than double pushchairs that have 4 wheels. This is due to the fact that the front wheels are smaller, which makes them less wide, which means less weight is placed on them. They can be pushed easier and are also much more easy to maneuver up and down kerbs.
Mountain Buggy Duet is a great model. It is the thinnest side-byside buggy on the market and has a footprint the same as a single buggy. It is perfect for parents who are concerned about fitting into doors or on public transportation. Plus, the fact that it can also be used with twins or two car seats/car carrycots means it can be used right from birth.
Another alternative is the UPPAbaby Vista 2. It's a fantastic, lightweight buggy that's perfect for urban life, yet also comfortable on uneven or rough terrain. It can be used by twins as well as a baby and toddler because of its four-wheel suspension and big rear wheels. Its light frame means it can be carried and lifted easily. The only downside is that it's slightly harder to maneuver than other models on uneven ground.
Comfort
If you plan to use your buggy for long walks or for jogging, it's worth investing in one that can be able to handle rough terrain. Look out for a 3-wheel model with big rear wheels to take the bumps, plus a suspension system that can absorb shocks. The front wheels should be mounted optimally to give you better control over rough terrain and allow you to easily get around corners.
A quality double buggy allows you to alter the seating positions so that both children feel comfortable. The most effective double buggys have adjustable footrests as well as reclining seats for older children. There's plenty of room to store your items phones, keys, and even keys.
A simple fold mechanism is another feature to keep an eye out for. Our Lab experts recommend models with straps underneath the seats that pull the buggy apart, or a lever to open an opening that folds the frame in half in only a few seconds or so. Some models can even be folded with the seat removed, making them more compact when not in use.
The Mountain Buggy Duet has won numerous awards and is a side-byside with a lot of flexibility for twins or siblings. Its innovative frame expands in width to accommodate the carrycot or second seat, but still maintaining the same footprint as a single stroller. This means it will fit through doors and on public transport. It's a little heavier than some other models but its smooth ride and effortless handling make more up for it.
iCandy's Orange Convertible is another popular side-by-side that offers a huge 30 seating configurations to fit all needs. It's an excellent choice for twins as the seats can be oriented towards parents, and can convert to a tandem pushchair with an extra seat/carrycot at the middle.
The Joie Evalite Duo, a lightweight option with three wheels, is suitable for everyday use. It's not quite as large or expensive as other models, however its fixed front wheel and small turning radius make it difficult to navigate up and down kerbs. It's easy to push though and can also be used as a running buggy with the addition of a separate child carriage for running.
Safety
The phil&teds sport is able to take two kids in multiple ways, from infant to toddler with their car seat adapters or twin kit, and even handle three if you use their piggyback board (which you buy separately for about PS120). Its dual front swivel wheel, superior manoeuvrability and handy foot brake make it a particularly secure. The parent tray is larger than most lightweight double buggies and the canopies have peekaboo windows to improve visibility.
This multi-award-winning side-by-side is the slimmest full-featured true all-terrain double buggy available on the market. Its footprint is similar to a single buggy, so it can be easily accessed through doors and on public transport. Its incredible suspension handles difficult terrain with ease and our Lab experts are thrilled that it folds down to an uncomplicated resting position in just a few seconds. It also has a hand brake that is mounted on the adjustable handlebar for added security. The seats can be reversible so that you can have the children facing the front or the parents facing one another which is ideal for siblings and twins.
