430 medical students participated, 37.9 % (n = 163) from Israel and 62.1 % (n = 267) from Thailand. Personal cannabis use was reported by 55.6 % of the Israeli and only by 6.9 % of the Thai students (p < .001). Israeli secular students, compared to those from Thailand, were more likely to recommend MC for patient treatment, less concerned about serious physical and mental health risks, and more inclined to support legalization of recreational cannabis. Israeli students reported more permissive attitudes toward MC, but reported feeling less prepared to answer patient/client questions about MC than their Thai counterparts.

The findings of this study accentuate the need for curriculum designed around MC use to promote students' preparedness to serve patients in pain or with other medical conditions that may benefit from MC use.

Periodontitis is a noncommunicable inflammatory disease of the soft tissue and bone surrounding the teeth in the jaw, which affects susceptible individuals with poor oral hygiene. A growing interest has been seen in the use of dietary supplements and natural products for the treatment and prevention of periodontitis. Vitamin E consists of two major groups, namely tocopherols and tocotrienols, which are botanical lipophilic compounds with excellent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

This review aimed to summarize the preclinical and clinical findings on the effects of vitamin E on periodontitis. The current literature suggests that vitamin E could improve the periodontal status by correcting redox status imbalance, reducing inflammatory responses, and promoting wound healing, thus highlighting the potential of vitamin E in the management of periodontitis.

More well-designed and controlled studies are required to ascertain its effectiveness.In the present study, combinatorial nanostructured lipid carrier gel of 5-fluorouracil and resveratrol was formulated, optimized and characterized to enhance permeation in between epidermis and dermis layers of the skin to obtain a synergistic effect against skin cancer. After extensive trials, a newly modified emulsiosonication method was developed and additionally, for the first time, stability studies were done in the beginning to optimize formulation technique, which exhibited two major benefits simultaneously; first, it provided best-optimized technique for preparation of combinatorial lipid-nanosystem, and secondly, it also demonstrated a detailed report card of durability of formulations. In vitro release study showed a significantly improved, slow and prolonged release of drugs from the optimized lipid-nanosystem (***p less then 0.05), which followed non-Fickian Higuchi kinetics. Besides, mechanism of skin permeation enhancement study, dermatokinetic assessment, and depth analysis of optimized formulation on skin exhibited improved permeation and well distribution of drugs up to the dermis layer of skin. Moreover, combinatorial linogel possessed significantly greater efficacy (**p less then 0.01) on the A431 cell line, as compared to the conventional formulation. Thus, findings revealed that modified method of preparation for dual drug-loaded lipid-nanosystem lead to the production of a stable formulation that also improved the retention of both 5-fluorouracil and resveratrol in between the epidermis and dermis region of skin thereby helping in the management and treatment of skin cancer.The main objective of this paper is to develop a self-delivered prodrug system with nanoscale characteristics to enhance the efficacy of tumor therapy. The pH-sensitive prodrug was composed of ortho ester-linked dasatinib (DAS-OE), which was further self-assembled with or without doxorubicin (DOX) to obtain two carrier-free nanoparticles (DOX/DAS-OE NPs or DAS-OE NPs). The prodrug-based nanoparticles united the superiorities of small molecules and nano-assemblies together and displayed well-defined structure, uniform spherical shape, high drug loading ratio and on-demand drug release behavior. The drug loading content of DAS and DOX was 61.6% and 21.9%, respectively, and more than 80.2% of DAS and 60.2% DOX were released from DOX/DAS-OE NPs within 20 h at pH 5.0. Both in vitro and in vivo studies demonstrated that the pH-sensitive ortho ester bonds in the prodrug underwent hydrolysis to release DAS and DOX simultaneously after cellular internalization, resulting in remarkable antitumor effect. Behavioral studies show that the strength of suppression on a moving limb increases during somatosensory reaching, when reach-relevant somatosensory signals from the target limb can be additionally used to plan and guide the movement, leading to increased reliability of sensorimotor predictions. It is still unknown how this suppression is neurally implemented. In this fMRI study, participants reached to a somatosensory (static finger) or an external target (touch-screen) without vision. To probe suppression, participants detected brief vibrotactile stimuli on their moving finger shortly before reach onset. As expected, sensitivity to probes was reduced during reaching compared to baseline (resting), and this suppression was stronger during somatosensory than external reaching. BOLD activation associated with suppression was also modulated by the reach target relative to baseline, processing of probes during somatosensory reaching led to distinct BOLD deactivations in somatosensory regions (postcentral gyrus, supramarginal gyrus-SMG) whereas probes during external reaching led to deactivations in the cerebellum. In line with the behavioral results, we also found additional deactivations during somatosensory relative to external reaching in the supplementary motor area, a region linked with sensorimotor prediction. Somatosensory reaching was also linked with increased functional connectivity between the left SMG and the right parietal operculum along with the right anterior insula. In a preliminary case series of 10 patients, we found no complications at a mean follow-up of 4.7 years. The Foot Posture Index-6 improved by an average of 2.4 points. Four patients had regained active dorsiflexion. All patients reduced their use of orthotics. All patients improved according to Goal Attainment Scaling.

After describing a typical clinical scenario and diagnostic journey of a patient with recurrent, undiagnosed abdominal pain due to hereditary angioedema (HAE), a rare variant of bradykinin-mediated angioedema, we delve into the classification and differential diagnosis of the various types of angioedema and provide an overview of appropriate management with an emphasis on the bradykinin-mediated types. Bradykinin-induced angioedema may be inherited or acquired and is infrequent compared to mast cell-mediated angioedema. HAE is a rare disease characterized by recurrent attacks of non-urticarial, nonpruritic edema usually affecting the face, respiratory tract, extremities, gastrointestinal tract, and genitalia. Unlike mast cell-mediated angioedema, painful abdominal symptoms are prevalent in bradykinin-mediated angioedema and are sometimes the only manifestation of an attack, increasing the likelihood of initial misdiagnosis as appendicitis or other forms of acute abdomen. It is important for gastroenterologists to be vigilant for the possibility of angioedema pathology in patients presenting with undiagnosed, recurrent, abdominal symptoms to facilitate accurate diagnosis and effective treatment.
