The purpose of the study is to evaluate the occlusal relationship of the mesiobuccal cusp of a mandibular first molar with the marginal ridge of maxillary first molar and second premolar and to analyze the effect of the above occlusal relation on different direct and indirect restorations using finite element analysis (FEA).

Four hundred volunteers studying in a dental college were screened, of which 100 volunteers were selected for studying occlusal relationships based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The two most common occlusal relationships were considered for analyzing two direct (amalgam and direct composite restorations) and two indirect restorations (composite and ceramic restorations). Three-dimensional (3D) scanning of the models was performed, and Class II tooth preparations specific for each restorative material were prepared digitally on 3D models. FEA was employed to study von Mises (VM) stress, principal stresses, and cuspal deflection for each restorative material, and failure of the tooth-restoration unit was calculated using the modified Mohr failure criterion.

Among all the analyzed materials, cuspal deformation, principal stresses, and VM stresses were high for direct composite restoration and least for ceramic inlay. According to modified Mohr criteria, except for direct composite, all other materials performed better.

Silver amalgam and ceramic restorations presented with minimal stress concentration and cuspal deflection, and Type I occlusal relationship presented with higher stress concentration compared to Type II.

However, biologic systems are fundamentally nonlinear with highly composite dynamics made up of numerous interacting elements and feedback loops, therefore studying them as linear models may not result in an accurate representation of their true features. The authors reviewed and utilized some of the principles of chaos and nonlinearity and extended them to clinical dentistry, from cracked tooth and flare-up after root canal procedures to the outcome of clinical treatments. Utilization of the concepts of chaos and sensitive dependence on initial conditions, and the concepts of self-organization, stigmergy, and fractals may help us to understand some of the puzzles that have not been solved by conventional linear models. The goal of this paper is to present some areas within nonclinical research that we believe will have important roles in the development of future clinical examination methods and therapies. The knowledge of biofilm and its eradication from the root canal system are of utmost importance in the clinical practice of an endodontist. Rapamycin Various treatment strategies and protocols have been demonstrated and discussed by numerous clinicians and researchers, on these models, that play an important role in the treatment outcome . Once a biofilm model is developed by considering various factors, several methods can be used to assess the biofilms formed on these models. This review discusses the importance of biofilm models in endodontics, types of biofilm models and factors associated with developing and the methods to evaluate these models. The genome sequence project of the human malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum reveal variations in the parasite DNA sequence. Most of these variations are single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). A high frequency of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the Plasmodium falciparum population is usually a benchmark for anti-malarial resistance which allows parasites to be elusive to the chemotherapeutic agents, vaccine and vector control strategies, resulting in the leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. The high density of drug resistance signature markers such as pfcrt,pfmdr1, pfdhps, pfdhfr, pfkelch13, pfatpase6 and pfmrp1 in the genome opens up a scope for the study of the genetic basis of this elusive parasite. The precise and prompt diagnosis of resistance strains of parasite plays vital role in malaria elimination program. This review probably shed light on contemporary SNP diagnostic tools used in molecular surveillance of Plasmodium falciparum drug resistance in terms of mechanism, reaction modalities, and development with their virtues and shortcomings.Alitropus typus is a crustacean parasite, which is increasingly becoming a menace to aquafarmers. In our previous study, a novel microbial consortium comprising of three exoskeleton degrading bacterial strains (Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Bacillus altitudinis and Klebsiella pneumoniae) had shown promising results as a biocontrol agent for A. typus. The present investigation reports the changes in proximate and elemental composition associated with the application of microbial consortium on the isopod A. typus. Proximate analysis showed an increased level of protein, lipid, and moisture in treated isopod at 48 h compared with untreated isopod. However, ash and chitin concentrations were lower in treated isopod. The elements in the mid-tergite of untreated isopod was compared with the treated isopod at 48 h using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDAX). The following elements were analyzed in the mid-tergite segment of untreated isopod C, O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, Cl, K, Ca and Fe. The results showed that the concentration of calcium had decreased significantly in the treated isopod at 48 h (4.28 ± 0.11%) when compared to the untreated isopod (10.01 ± 0.32%), indicating that the bound form of calcium carbonate in the exoskeleton had been precipitated by microbial action. The concentration of carbon and phosphorous was higher in the treated isopods at 48 h compared to the untreated ones. The data suggests that treatment with microbial consortium is not only an effective but also an environmentally safe alternative for the control of A. typus. The use of plant extracts and the benefit of their unique properties in treating various pathogens is the return to mother nature, and an attempt to overcome the problems of side effects resulting from the use of chemical drugs and the ability of some pathogens to resist these drugs. Nanotechnology has strengthened the ability of drugs to reach the target and reduced the size and amount of dose needed for treatment. Nano-extracts of Citrullus colocynthis and Capparis spinosa at concentrations of (100, 250 and 500) ppm prepared to the treatment Trichomonas vaginalis in vitro at the time (12, 24, 72) h. Results compared with the use of 0.1% of metronidazole (500 mg). The results showed that the concentrations (100, 250, 500) ppm of C. colocynthis had an inhibitory activity for the growth rate (43.77, 69.15, 89.89) at the time (12, 24 and 72) h, respectively. The inhibitory activity of C. spinosa was (43.18, 67.41, 87.04) at the same time and concentration, compared with metronidazole (43.47, 70.40, 87.04) at the same time. Neither plants showed severe effects in hemolysis. From the results, it can be concluded that either plant can be used as an alternative to metronidazole after completing human and animal tests. This study aimed to screen the natural infection rate of Leishmania major in Phlebotomus papatasi and Phlebotomus alexandri in two counties (Mehran and Dehloran) of Ilam province as cutaneous leishmaniasis endemic areas in the west of Iran. Furthermore, the genetic diversity of parasite species that are isolated from vectors, was investigated. Sandflies were collected by sticky traps from May 2018 to October 2018. Afterward, specimens were prepared for species identification by morphological features. DNA was extracted from female sandflies, and minicircle kDNA was used to identify Leishmania isolates through nested-PCR, followed by genetic diversity between Leishmania isolates was investigated by sequence analysis of the amplified minicircle kDNA. Natural infection of the L. major was shown in all positive specimens using nested-PCR. Analysis of data from 14 isolates displayed a high level of genetic diversity in L. major. In the phylogenetic trees, all of the L. major isolates occurred in six clusters. Clusters I, II, III, and VI contained isolated strains from P. papatasi. While clusters IV and V contained isolated strains from P. alexandri. Genetic diversity of L. major isolated from vectors was investigated in western Iran for the first time. According to the results of this study, probably "various clones of L. major populations are distributed in the study area. The genus Henneguya is the second largest within the class Myxosporea, which infects marine and freshwater fish. One hundred Clarias gariepinus specimens were collected alive from a branch of the Nile River in Kafrelsheikh, Egypt. Microscopic and molecular procedures were used to describe how Henneguya fusiformis infects the ovaries of C. gariepinus. The infected fish showed no pathogenic changes except for macroscopic creamy whitish nodules in their ovaries with the highest prevalence during the spring season. The mature spores are spindle-shaped. The total spore length, spore body length and width are 53.4 ± 0.8 (52.5-54.3) µm, 29.8 ± 0.5 (29.2-30.4) µm and 6.5 ± 0.3 (6.1-6.9) µm, respectively. The spore anterior end consisted of two equal polar capsules, located in a tandem position, each one measuring 4.2 × 2.1 µm. The polar filament formed a coil with 6-8 turns. The measurement of the spore end with two extended processes was 24.3 ± 0.4 (23.9-24.8) µm. Phylogenetic analyses of the 18S ribosomal RNA gene sequence revealed that H. fusiformis are clustered together with other myxobolids that are histozoic in channel catfish, Ictalurus punctatus, and Asian Redtail catfish, Hemibagrus nemurus" (Clariidae) in the United States and Malaysia, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first record of H. fusiformis in Egypt. Additionally, our study is the first record of H. fusiformis in the ovaries of C. gariepinus.Coprological studies on the prevalence of gastrointestinal helminth (GI) parasites in domestic ruminants from Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh, India, were carried out for a period of one year from January 2019 to December 2019. Fecal examination was done using direct smear, sedimentation and floatation methods. Altogether 3527 fecal samples were examined including 595 from cows, 485 from buffaloes, 1342 from sheep and 1105 from goat. Out of 3527 fecal samples examined, 1084 were found to be positive with three groups of gastrointestinal parasites (GI) showing an overall prevalence of 30.7%. Maximum infection was noted with nematodes (39.1%) and trematodes (37.3%), least infection was noted with cestodes (3.5%) and mixed infections were found to be moderate (20.01%). Host wise prevalence of parasitic infection has shown highest in the case of cattle recording 43.03%, followed by 40.8% in buffaloes, 29.4% in sheep, and 21.4% in goats. Total six varieties of parasites were recorded, the predominant being Haemonchus (Strongyle group) (29.
