Increased blood Pb levels were positively associated with serum levels of IFN-γ, and negatively associated with serum levels of IL-13. Adjusted linear regression analysis showed that serum levels of IL-13 were negatively associated with serum levels of IgG1 and IgG1 + IgG2. Mediation models indicated that IL-13 had significant mediating effects on the relationships between blood Pb levels and serum IgG1, as well as between blood Pb levels and serum IgG1 + IgG2. Increased blood Cd levels were positively associated with serum levels of IgG1. Our results show heavy metal (particularly Pb) exposure may affect IgG subclass production by regulating Th1/Th2 cytokines in exposed children, thus providing new evidence for a relationship between humoral immune function and environmental exposure. The overarching hypothesis of this study was that temporal microbial potentiometric sensor (MPS) signal patterns could be used to predict changes in commonly monitored water quality parameters by using artificial intelligence/machine learning tools. To test this hypothesis, the study first examines a proof of concept by correlating between MPS's signals and high algae concentrations in an algal cultivation pond. Then, the study expanded upon these findings and examined if multiple water quality parameters could be predicted in real surface waters, like irrigation canals. Signals generated between the MPS sensors and other water quality sensors maintained by an Arizona utility company, including algae and chlorophyll, were collected in real time at time intervals of 30 min over a period of 9 months. Data from the MPS system and data collected by the utility company were used to train the ML/AI algorithms and compare the predicted with actual water quality parameters and algae concentrations. Based on the composite signal obtained from the MPS, the ML/AI was used to predict the canal surface water's turbidity, conductivity, chlorophyll, and blue-green algae (BGA), dissolved oxygen (DO), and pH, and predicted values were compared to the measured values. EPZ005687 purchase Initial testing in the algal cultivation pond revealed a strong linear correlation (R2 = 0.87) between mixed liquor suspended solids (MLSS) and the MPSs' composite signals. The Normalized Root Mean Square Error (NRMSE) between the predicted values and measured values were less then 6.5%, except for the DO, which was 10.45%. The results demonstrate the usefulness of MPSs to predict key surface water quality parameters through a single composite signal, when the ML/AI tools are used conjunctively to disaggregate these signal components. The maintenance-free MPS offers a novel and cost-effective approach to monitor numerous water quality parameters at once with relatively high accuracy.Significant microbial removal of highly chlorinated polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) requires the cooperation of anaerobic and aerobic bacteria. During the sequencing process of anaerobic dechlorination and aerobic degradation of PCBs, aerobic degrading bacteria have to undergo anaerobic stress. However, the survival strategy of aerobic degrading bacteria under anaerobic condition is not well-understood. In this study, the culturable cells of Rhodococcus biphenylivorans TG9 decreased from 108 CFU/mL to values below the detection limit after 60 days of anaerobic stress while the viable cells remained 105-106 cells/mL, indicating that anaerobic condition induced TG9 entering into the viable but nonculturable (VBNC) state. Cell resuscitation was observed when oxygen was supplied further confirming the VBNC state of TG9. The results of single-cell Raman spectroscopy combined with heavy water indicated the significant decrease of metabolic activity after TG9 entering into the VBNC state. Additionally, the degradation ability of TG9 in the VBNC state was also significantly reduced, while it recovered after resuscitation. Our research proved that entering into the VBNC state is a survival strategy of TG9 under anaerobic conditions, and the limited culturability and degrading capacity could be overcome by resuscitation. The present study provides new insights for improving the remediation efficiency of PCBs contamination. With the level of science and technology, the logistics industry is paying more and more attention to sustainable development. However, the current cold chain logistics industry generally has problems such as backward refrigeration technology, irrational distribution management, and outdated equipment, which make its energy consumption serious and cause severe carbon emission effects on the environment. Optimizing the carbon emission structure of the cold chain logistics industry is the top priority for ensuring the sustainable development of the logistics industry. The circulation of fresh products is mainly through cold chain logistics. However, there are some problems of excessively high cost of the cold chain and easy disconnection during the cold transportation process in Chinese cold chain logistics, which severely restricts the development of Chinese cold chain logistics. Because of the perishability and strong timeliness of distribution of fresh products, inventory costs, penalties, and damage costs need to be considered. Because fresh products should utilize refrigerated transportation, it is also necessary to consider refrigerated costs during transportation and cold storage cost in distribution centers. Based on the goal of the lowest total cost, this paper constructs an integer programming model and analyzes cases. By comparing the simulation results of the genetic algorithm and the hybrid algorithm, it is concluded that the hybrid algorithm is more effective.Accurate and efficient estimation for defect profile of magnetic flux leakage (MFL) signals is important for nondestructive evaluation in industry. To improve the accuracy of defect profile reconstruction, an improved reconstruction method based on modified cuckoo search (CS), called MCS, is proposed in this paper. Firstly, a novel single-dimension updating evolution strategy is proposed to avoid the interference between multiple dimensions, which can make full use of the appropriate nest position in the historical search. Secondly, an adaptive multi-strategy difference evolution is introduced into the evolution process to improve the diversity and efficiency of CS algorithm. The proportion factor of each strategy in multi-strategy difference evolution is adjusted dynamically according to the value of the objective fitness. Finally, various MFL signals are selected to verify the effectiveness of the proposed MCS algorithm. The experiment results illustrate that the proposed method has high performance on the quality of the solution and robustness for noise.Tumor immune microenvironment has been shown to be important in predicting the tumor progression and the outcome of treatments. This work aims to identify different immune patterns in osteosarcoma and their clinical characteristics. We use the latest and best performing deconvolution method, CIBERSORTx, to obtain the relative abundance of 22 immune cells. Then we cluster patients based on their estimated immune abundance and study the characteristics of these clusters, along with the relationship between immune infiltration and outcome of patients. We find that abundance of CD8 T cells, NK cells and M1 Macrophages have a positive association with prognosis, while abundance of γδ T cells, Mast cells, M0 Macrophages and Dendritic cells have a negative association with prognosis. Accordingly, the cluster with the lowest proportion of CD8 T cells, M1 Macrophages and highest proportion of M0 Macrophages has the worst outcome among clusters. By grouping patients with similar immune patterns, we are also able to suggest treatments that are specific to the tumor microenvironment. In this paper, a crystal image analysis method is presented to measure and predict crystal sizes, based on cooling crystallization of β-form L-glutamic acid (LGA) by using an in-situ non-invasive imaging system. The proposed method consists of image restoration, image segmentation, crystal size measurement, and size prediction. To cope with the effects of noise pollution, uneven illumination and movement blurring, the image processing method is conducted for segmenting crystal images captured from the stirring reactor. Thus, the crystal size distribution for crystal population is obtained by using a probability density function. In addition, a short-term prediction method is given for crystal sizes. An experimental study on the cooling crystallization process of β-form LGA is shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.A complete stability analysis of the equilibrium solutions of a system modeling tumor chemotherapy is performed in two cases of administration of the treatment, by continuous infusion and by periodic infusion. Several numerical simulations illustrate and complement the theory. In this paper, we present an SEIIaHR epidemic model to study the influence of recessive infection and isolation in the spread of COVID-19. We first prove that the infection-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable with condition R01. By using the COVID-19 data in India, we then give numerical simulations to illustrate our results and carry out some sensitivity analysis. We know that asymptomatic infections will affect the spread of the disease when the quarantine rate is within the range of [0.3519, 0.5411]. Furthermore, isolating people with symptoms is important to control and eliminate the disease. The complexity of biological systems suggests that current definitions of molecular dysfunctions are essential distinctions of a complex phenotype. This is well seen in neurodegenerative diseases (ND), such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease (PD), multi-factorial pathologies characterized by high heterogeneity. These challenges make it necessary to understand the effectiveness of candidate biomarkers for early diagnosis, as well as to obtain a comprehensive mapping of how selective treatment alters the progression of the disorder. A large number of computational methods have been developed to explain network-based approaches by integrating individual components for modeling a complex system. In this review, high-throughput omics methodologies are presented for the identification of potent biomarkers associated with AD and PD pathogenesis as well as for monitoring the response of dysfunctional molecular pathways incorporating multilevel clinical information. In addition, principles for efficient data analysis pipelines are being discussed that can help address current limitations during the experimental process by increasing the reproducibility of benchmarking studies.Discrete fractional calculus (DFC) use to analyse nonlocal behaviour of models has acquired great importance in recent years. The aim of this paper is to address the discrete fractional operator underlying discrete Atangana-Baleanu (AB)-fractional operator having $hbar$-discrete generalized Mittag-Leffler kernels in the sense of Riemann type (ABR). In this strategy, we use the $hbar$-discrete AB-fractional sums in order to obtain the Gr"uss type and certain other related variants having discrete generalized $hbar$-Mittag-Leffler function in the kernel. Meanwhile, several other variants found by means of Young, weighted-arithmetic-geometric mean techniques with a discretization are formulated in the time domain $hbarmathbbZ$. At first, the proposed technique is compared to discrete AB-fractional sums that uses classical approach to derive the numerous inequalities, showing how the parameters used in the proposed discrete $hbar$-fractional sums can be estimated. Moreover, the numerical meaning of the suggested study is assessed by two examples.
