We first evaluated algorithm performance using simulated dynamic data. We then applied our algorithm to a dataset of 50 women with locally advanced breast cancer imaged by dynamic FDG PET prior to treatment and followed to monitor for disease recurrence. Regional association analysis of 50 re-sequenced Chinese semi-winter rapeseed accessions in combination with co-expression analysis reveal candidate genes affecting oil accumulation in Brassica napus. One of the breeding goals in rapeseed production is to enhance the seed oil content to cater to the increased demand for vegetable oils due to a growing global population. To investigate the genetic basis of variation in seed oil content, we used 60K Brassica Infinium SNP array along with phenotype data of 203 Chinese semi-winter rapeseed accessions to perform a genome-wide analysis of haplotype blocks associated with the oil content. Nine haplotype regions harbouring lipid synthesis/transport-, carbohydrate metabolism- and photosynthesis-related genes were identified as significantly associated with the oil content and were mapped to chromosomes A02, A04, A05, A07, C03, C04, C05, C08 and C09, respectively. Only experimental studies investigating either or both bacterial and fungal endophytes and within the scope of this review were selected. The published data from the last 2 decades (2000-2019) revealed diverse endophytes associated with different plants produce a broad spectrum of bioactive compounds with therapeutic benefits. Notably, antibacterial, followed by anticancer and antifungal activities, were mostly reported. Only three studies investigated the anti-plasmodial activity. The variation observed in the synthesis of bioactive compounds amongst endophytes varied with host type, endophyte species, and cultivation medium. Endophytic fungal communities from parasitic plant Cynomorium songaricum and its host Nitraria tangutorum were investigated from three sites including Tonggu Naoer, Xilin Gaole, and Guazhou in Tengger and Badain Jaran Deserts in China using the next-generation sequencing of a ribosomal RNA gene region. Similarity and difference in endophytic fungal composition from different geographic locations were evaluated through multivariate statistical analysis. It showed that plant genetics was a deciding factor affecting endophytic fungal composition even when C. songaricum and N. tangutorum grow together tightly. Not only that, the fungal composition was also greatly affected by the local environment and rainfall. However, the distribution and richness of fungal species indicated that the geographical distance exerted little influence on characterizing the fungal composition. Overall, the findings suggested that plant species, parasitic or non-parasitic lifestyles of the plant, and local environment strongly affected the number and diversity of the endophytic fungal species, which may provide valuable insights into the microbe ecology, symbiosis specificity, and the tripartite relationship among parasitic plant, host, and endophytic fungi, especially under desert environment.Genome analysis gives important insights into the biosynthetic potential of marine actinobacteria. The genomes of two marine actinomycetes Brevibacterium luteolum MOSEL-ME10a and Cellulosimicrobium funkei MOSEL-ME6 were sequenced to identify the biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). Additionally, anti-proliferative, antioxidant, and enzyme inhibitory activities were studied in vitro. We report a total genome size of 2.77 Mb with GC content of 67.8% and 6.81 Mb with GC content of 69% for Brevibacterium sp. MOSEL-ME10a and Cellulosimicrobium sp. MOSEL-ME6, respectively. Biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) encoding different classes of natural products were predicted including terpenes, peptides, siderophores, ectoines, and bacteriocins. The bioactivity potential of crude extracts derived from these strains was evaluated. Notable anti-proliferative activity was observed against HepG2 cell line (hepatocellular carcinoma) with an IC50 value of 182 µg/mL for Brevibacterium sp. MOSEL-ME10a. Furthermore, antioxidant activity was assessed with IC50 values of 48.91 µg/mL and 102.5 µg/mL for Brevibacterium sp. MOSEL-ME10a and Cellulosimicrobium sp. MOSEL-ME6, respectively. For this study, we focused on partial or completely sequenced genes involved in nitrogen metabolism. link3 The KEGG nitrogen metabolism pathway mapping results for both acid ponds showed that all the predicted genes are involved directly or indirectly in the assimilation of ammonia and no dissimilation or nitrification process was identified. link3 Furthermore, the deduced nitrogen fixation in the two acid ponds based on SEED classification indicated the presence of different sets of nitrogen fixing (nif) genes for biosynthesis and maturation of nitrogenase. Based on the in silico analysis, the predicted proteins involved in nitrogen fixation, especially the cysteine desulfurase and [4Fe-4S] ferredoxin, from both acid ponds are unique with less than 80% sequence similarity to the next closest protein sequence. Considering the extremity of the environmental conditions of the two acid ponds in the Danakil depression, this metagenomics dataset can add to the study of unique gene functions in nitrogen metabolism that enable thriving biocommunities in hypersaline and highly acidic conditions.
