Stimulation parameters included intermittent stimulation, frequency, pulse width, amplitude, and unilateral vs. bilateral stimulation. Especially high frequency SNM and either a narrow or wide pulse width seem to improve efficacy in patients with bowel dysfunction. Additionally, implementation of short cycling intervals is promising to improve quality of life for patients with urinary tract or bowel dysfunction.
The results of our systematic review indicate that stimulation parameters may improve efficacy of SNM in treatment of both urinary tract dysfunction and bowel dysfunction.

To (a) describe lunchbox foods packed and consumed by children attending early childhood education and care services; (b) compare the serves of foods packed and consumed with nutrition guideline recommendations; and (c) explore associations between parent characteristics and serves of food groups packed in lunchboxes.
A cross sectional study was conducted on a sample of early childhood education and care services where parents provide food in the Hunter New England region of NSW, Australia. see more Lunchbox contents were assessed using photography and pre- and post-meal weights. Descriptive statistics were used to describe packing and consumption of core food groups and discretionary foods.
Data on food packed and consumed were collected for 355 children's lunchboxes from 17 services (preschools n = 14, long day care services n = 3). Less than half (44%) of lunchboxes contained vegetables, and 54% contained at least one serve of discretionary foods. Less than 1% of lunchboxes met all setting-specific nutrition d.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrinological disorder in reproductive age and criterion have recently been revised for adolescent age group. Research regarding effects of PCOS on psychological well-being is limited; and majority of the studies are conducted in adult patients. We aimed to examine psychological effects of PCOS in adolescents who are diagnosed using latest criterion.
Cases were divided into PCOS and control groups according to their clinical, ultrasonographical and biochemical features. Beck depression inventory (BDI), State & Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-I/II), Self-Confidence Scale (SCS), Multidimensional Peer-Victimization Scale (MPVS) and Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A) were used in psychiatric evaluation.
There were no statistically significant differences between groups regarding psychiatric scale scores. However, several biochemical parameters (dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate, 17-hydroxyprogesterone) and clinical (Ferriman-Gallwey score [FGS]) of hyreached their full potential for their effect on emergence of psychological problems; thus making this age group critical for interventions of prevention measures. In addition, while examining the effects of PCOS on psychological well-being, biochemical parameters of hyperandrogenism might be as effective as physical manifestations (FGS); and high levels of biochemical parameters of hyperandrogenism might also affect psychological state.Thermal management is an important consideration for applications that involve gas sorption by flexible porous materials. A pressure-gradient differential scanning calorimetric method was developed to measure the energetics of adsorption and desorption both directly and continuously. The method was applied to the uptake and release of CO2 by the well-known flexible metal-organic frameworks MIL-53(Al) and MOF-508b. High-resolution differential enthalpy plots and total integral enthalpy values for sorption allow comprehensive assessment of the thermal behavior of the materials throughout the entire sorption process. During adsorption, the investigated materials display the ability to offset exothermic adsorption enthalpy against endothermic structural transition enthalpy, and vice versa during desorption. The results show that flexible materials offer reduced total integral heat over a working range when compared to rigid materials.Electrochemical reduction of CO to value-added products holds promise for storage of energy from renewable sources. Copper can convert CO into multi-carbon (C2+ ) products during CO electroreduction. However, developing a Cu electrocatalyst with a high selectivity for CO reduction and desirable production rates for C2+ products remains challenging. Herein, highly lattice-disordered Cu3 N with abundant twin structures as a precursor electrocatalyst is examined for CO reduction. Through in situ activation during the CO reduction reaction (CORR) and concomitant release of nitrogen, the obtained metallic Cu° catalyst particles inherit the lattice dislocations present in the parent Cu3 N lattice. The de-nitrified catalyst delivers an unprecedented C2+ Faradaic efficiency of over 90% at a current density of 727 mA cm-2 in a flow cell system. Using a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) electrolyzer with a solid-state electrolyte (SSE), a 17.4 vol% ethylene stream and liquid streams with concentration of 1.45 m and 230 × 10-3 m C2+ products at the outlet of the cathode and SSE-containment layer are obtained.
Asthma is a prevailing respiratory disease among children, characterized by allergic airway inflammation, airway remodeling, and airway hyperresponsiveness. Although it is well-known that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are linked to a variety of human diseases and well-documented, very few studies explore its role in asthma. In this study, we investigate the effects of lncRNA PVT1 on the promotion of airway inflammation and its associated mechanisms.
Human small airway epithelial cells (HSAECs) with PVT1 overexpressed or knocked down were constructed, and platelet activating factor (PAF) was used to treat HSAECs to mimic the pathological process of asthma in vitro. The expressions of prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The expressions of PKC, MyD88, and NF-ĸB were measured by Western blot. Monolayer permeability of HSAECs was also compared within different groups. Luciferase reporter gene assay was employed to detect the targeting relationship between PVT1 and miR-149.
The knockdown of PVT1 attenuated the levels of inflammatory factors induced by PAF and destruction of cell-barrier function. The overexpression of PVT1 facilitated the pathological development. Additionally, miR-149 was identified as a target microRNA of PVT1, and the overexpression of miR-149 could reverse the effects of PVT1 on PAF-induced HSAECs.
These findings suggest that PVT1 may represent a novel potential target for treatment of asthma.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) on glucose metabolism and insulin resistance in human placental trophoblasts and involvement of the cAMP/PKA/CREB1 signaling pathway in these effects.
An insulin resistance cell model of human trophoblasts was established. An SHBG-overexpression plasmid was transfected into these cells, and the expression of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1), CREB and p-CREB was detected and analyzed in normal cells, model cells and all groups of transfected cells by real-time PCR and western blotting; cAMP, PKA, glucose consumption and pyruvic acid levels were also detected.
Among the four groups, there was no significant difference in the expression of CREB mRNA or GLUT1 mRNA (P > 0.05); however, CREB, p-CREB, GLUT1 protein, cAMP and PKA showed low expression (P < 0.05) and cell glucose consumption and pyruvate production were decreased (P < 0.05) in the model group, compared to the normal group. SHBG overexpression in insulin-resistant cells partially increased the levels of p-CREB, GLUT1, cAMP and PKA (P < 0.05). Intracellular glucose consumption and pyruvate production were nearly restored to the levels observed in cells from the normal group.
Sex hormone-binding globulin regulates GLUT1 expression via the cAMP/PKA/CREB1 pathway and affects glucose transport in the placenta, which can induce insulin resistance and gestational diabetes.

Carboplatin is a key drug for gynecologic cancers. However, hypersensitivity reactions (HSR) are major adverse effects that might necessitate carboplatin discontinuation. Desensitization is an effective method in patients who developed initial HSR and further required carboplatin treatment. Here, we aimed to evaluate our experience with the use of the carboplatin desensitization protocol in five patients at the University of Tokyo Hospital.
We established a four-step, 5-h desensitization protocol for our hospital. Observational and retrospective analyses were performed. Additionally, we have shared the patients' clinical information with the emergency department to ensure the safety of this protocol.
Five patients with recurrent gynecological cancer were treated using this protocol. Four of the five patients were treated effectively and 28 of 29 desensitization protocols were completed successfully. In one patient, we switched to olaparib successfully after two courses of our protocol. One patient who developed grade 4 HSR during initial carboplatin administration developed grade 2 HSR and we discontinued the protocol.
The carboplatin desensitization protocol is very efficient. The outcome of our protocol was on a par with other protocols. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to indicate that switching to olaparib can be considered a suitable option in patients who develop HSR to carboplatin.

Increased left atrium diameter (LAD) is associated with an elevated risk of cardiovascular diseases. The relationship between nutrition status and left atrial enlargement (LAE) is still unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the association of famine exposure in early life with LAE in adulthood.
Participants were divided into non-exposed, fetal, early, middle and late childhood exposed groups according to birth data. LAE was defined when LAD was ≥3.9cm in women and ≥4.1cm in men, or ≥2.3cmm
by a sex-independent cut-off normalised for body surface area. Multivariate logistic regression was performed to calculate the odds ratio (OR) and confidence interval (CI) between famine exposure and LAE.
In total, 2522 [905 male, mean (SD) age 59.1(3.65)years] subjects were enrolled, including 392 (15.5%) LAE subjects. The prevalence of LAE in non-exposed, fetal, early, middle and late childhood exposed groups was 55 (10.8%), 38 (11.2%), 88 (18.1%), 102 (16.7%) and 109 (19.0%), respectively. Compared to the non-exposed group, the ORs for LAE were in fetal (OR=0.
