The Ratio of C-Reactive Proteins in order to Albumin Is an Unbiased Forecaster regarding Cancer Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms of the Pancreatic.
Mercury (Hg) is an important environmental indicator of anthropogenic pollution. In this study, the Hg content in the bottom sediments of the East Siberian Sea was observed to range from 13 to 92 ppb, with an average of 36 ppb. Facies dependence was also observed and expressed as an increase in the Hg concentration in fine-sized sediments on the shelf edge and continental slope, compared to that in the sandy silts and sands of the inner shelf. The Hg accumulation in bottom sediments of the eastern part has increased over the past 150 years due to an increase in global emissions of anthropogenic Hg, which is caused by the transboundary transport of Hg to the Arctic. Moreover, changes in the Hg value, which occur due to the plankton arriving at the bottom sediments because of changes in hydrology and primary production, are thought to be associated with global warming.Floating marine debris (FMD) were abundantly reported in the Northern Chilean Patagonia in 2009 where sea-based activities (mussel and salmon aquaculture) are responsible for most of them. Identifying the sources of FMD is important to take the necessary actions to diminish their abundance. In 2019 eleven transects were opportunistically conducted to evaluate the abundance, spatial distribution and composition of FMD in the same area, and to compare them with the previous study using the same methodology. FMD identified were classified into the same six categories from the previous study, however "Others" category were now the dominant one indicating that new pollutants have been increasing during the last decade. Inside the "others" category, plastics buoy and other floating devices, that normally are used by the salmon aquaculture, were the main items. Similarly than the previous study, styrofoam and domestic plastics were also the other most abundant items. In general, also, an increase in abundance compared with the previous study was found. learn more The highest abundances were similarly found in the "Golfo de Corcovado" zone ranging from 50 to 230 items km-2. Our results, as well as the previous study, confirm that sea-based activities are still responsible for the FMD found in the Northern Patagonia. To avoid the origin of this contamination it is urgent to implement public policies that effectively reduce FMD, and hold the aquaculture industries responsible. The deposition of remaining nanoparticles in the Caribbean Sea generates the formation of potentially dangerous elements, which influence at the imbalance of ecosystems. The detection of nanoparticles is not simple and the use of conventional methods is difficult application, which is why we highlight the immediacy and importance of this research for the areas of marine biology, urbanism, engineering and geosciences, applied in the Caribbean Sea. The general objective of this study is to evaluate the use of advanced methods for the determination of toxic nanoparticles, which can directly affect the development of marine organisms in the aquatic ecosystem in waters of the Caribbean Sea, favoring the construction of future international public policies with the elaboration of projects capable of mitigating these levels of contamination. The morphology and structure of nanoparticles were analyzed by emission scanning electron microscope with a high-resolution electron microscope. The nanoparticles smaller than 97 nm were identified in different proportions. The morphological analyses indicated nanoparticles' presence in the form of nanotubes, nanospheres, and nanofibers, which were shown in an agglomerated form. The presence of potentially hazardous elements, such as As, Cd, Pb, Mg, Ni and V were verified. In addition, the presence of asbestos in the form of minerals was confirmed, and that of titanium dioxide was found in large quantities. The results provide new data and emphasize the possible consequences to the in the Caribbean Sea, with the identification of dangerous elements (As, Cb, Pb, Hg, Ni and V), harmful to the marine ecosystem. Therefore, there is a need for strict control to reduce contamination of the Caribbean Sea and avoid risks to the ecosystem and public health, through suggestions of international public policies, through constant monitoring and the application of environmental recovery projects in this marine estuary.Sediment samples had been collected from five major rivers into Jiaozhou Bay, China to study the spatial distribution, sources, and ecological risks of 16 priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in April 2018. Results showed that the contents of PAHs in the sediments from the five rivers were significantly different. The distribution trend was Dagu less then Yang less then Licun less then Baisha less then Moshui River. The contents of PAHs in the eastern rivers were higher than those in the western portions. The contribution rate of HMW-PAHs was higher than LMW-PAHs in the sediments, with the majority of PAHs being four rings. PAHs in sediments were mainly derived from combustion sources, including the incomplete combustion of petroleum, coal, and wood. The benzo[a]pyrene toxic equivalent method (TEQ) showed that Moshui River had a high risk of carcinogenesis. The evaluation results of Effects Range Low(ERL), Effects Range Median (ERM) and Mean- Effects Range Median-quotient (M-ERM-Q) showed that PAHs in the sediments of Moshui River would occasionally have adverse biological effects, as well as possible medium and low ecological risks. The ecological risks of PAHs in the sediments of the other four rivers were low. Hence, we should focus on and control the input of PAHs in the Moshui River. The study evaluated pollutant dynamics between The Black Sea and The Marmara Sea using data collected during a marine survey of the region around The Bosphorus strait, in the last five years. A hydraulic model was utilized to define two-layered water exchange in The Bosphorus. Analysis of pollutant exchange indicated The Black Sea as major polluter for the marine environment in The Marmara Sea. Four wastewater outfalls are located along The Bosphorus; Mass balances between the two ends of The Bosphorus indicated losses of 44 t/d total N and 138 t/d COD in the lower layer before reaching The Black Sea. This was explained with a simultaneous nitrification-denitrification process sustained in the low oxygen or anoxic zones around the outfalls, implying that a sustainable wastewater strategy should preclude additional treatment for The Bosphorus discharges, since they do not have an appreciable impact on the water quality of the lower flow.
